@@awesome9174 No need to be facetious. The drama over the graphical downgrade of Onward is honestly the most whiny nonsense I've seen in quite a while in the gaming community. The games mechanics didn't change. It still plays the same and feels the same. The graphical fidelity is not really all that important, and the drop in fidelity allowed for a larger playerbase to exist by dropping rhe entry price required for it. It's overall a net positive.

Does contractors have mods akin to Pavlov? Because that's what makes Pavlov the king of shooters for me. Onward I only play because I haven't found a game with a better PvE mode.... Also its crazy immersive.
Half way through this video I got up, linked my new card to my oculus account and bought this game. I’ve been getting bored with Pavlov recently after about 6 months of playing it. Contractors just doesn’t do it for me. So I decided to type in “onward review” and this video popped up. You made me by this game so fast after a few days of consideration
Because of the daily deal I had to explain how to load LMGs to 6 people Also the smg for volk that you were using is not good because for the same class there is an smg that cost the same but is slightly better
Finally! A video about Onward! It's such a hard game to come across but it's a masterpiece. Glad to see that you found this masterpiece of a game. Have fun with it.
Onward and Pavlov are different games doing different things. To me Pavlov is more CSGO/Call of duty. Onward is a tactical shooter more like siege or some other tactical shooter
I remember i game of onward i played with my brother who was on the oppisite team. My team had an entire plan with snipers watching the objectoves and scouts on the ground to give information. Nothing happenned until the end of the game where we heard a gunshot. After the game i asked the enemy team where they were and turns out they were arguing with my brother and ended up just shooting him
Love onward, my favourite VR shooter because of how fun it can be when you play tactically. also I got no clue why the recoil is so horrible for you, its usually really controllable and pavlov has more recoil than onward. so yeah onward has close to no recoil so you might not have been 2 handing it correctly
A head up to everyone: If you have an oculus, get the game it's fantastic. If you have PCVR, do not buy this game. The devs sold out to FB and it is terrible on the PC version now.
I have the Valve index and im thinking about buying this game, cuz I love the slow paced more tactical gameplay, but it seems like recently the game has been downgraded a lot.. anyone here have the game and know if its still worth it?
@@pixel6173 I really like the PC version and the game in general. Eventhough the graphics have been downgraded a lot, it still looks great and way better than the quest version. I would recommend watching a comparison video from "Eyes on VR". I literally can't go back to the oculus Quest version.
Onward is the second VR game I played, and I played it with a Rift DK2 and the Razer Hydra motion controllers. I could only point and shoot directly infront of me, and I couldn't physically turn at all or I'd pull the base station for the Hydra off my desk, but boy was it an awesome experience. FFW to when I bought a Vive, playing it with my mate and some randoms, I say "Reloading" and instead of covering me, a guy on my team stands next to me and watches and nods as I speed reload a tube fed shotgun. Great game.
If it had the shots to kill that Pavlov it would be better because you can actually react and people would play more aggressive in my opinion I like more fast paced
Yoo you did a great job at introducing this game my friend asked me to play and watch this video and I’m definitely buying it I know it’s a older game now but still excited
Bro, I really needed him to say have a good day tomorrow because tomorrow is my birthday but I haven’t been feeling very good lately. I actually kinda needed that.
This game used to be so much more I beg of you to play the 1.7 version back before it was downgraded to run on the oculus quest. You might think the game is good now but the game was 10x better. Better sounds graphics and even AI. Back during 1.7 I could proudly say that this game was looking to be one of the best VR shooters, but ever since they sold their soul to oculus. The game has been nothing but a shadow of it's former self. I urge you to go back and play the 1.7 version. The experience is just so much more authentic. I've never wanted my money back from a game as much as onward, a true backstab to the vr community.
I got a quest from my parents for christmas, and honestly it's fine. I have 2 friends with Indexes and it's like the difference between getting 100% on a test and getting a 92% on a test, the only difference is the quest is 1/5th the cost and much easier to set up and play.
If you plan on buying Onward be at least aware that Downpour Interactive are total smoothbrains. Trying to make your game more accessible by making it run on the Quest isn't an inherently unreasonable action, but also downgrading PC and completely spitting in the face of their players by not even in the slightest caring to give back a proper visual upgrade to the very same people that made all of this even possible, has to be the most dickish move ever. Not even to mention the Facebook acquisition, where they literally called it warm received in a post with absolutely 0 likes and continuously locked down posts after to silence every opposition, again no communication to the players w h o b u y t h e g a m e what so ever. And this is NOT against the gameplay/gunplay it's unique, great and stands out in many ways, but why would i continue playing a game that i know will get worse over time and also be the one that's going to be called toxic for wanting stuff back that was already there? and where i know that the game wont receive major groundbreaking updates since it's "running fine"? It quite literally doesn't have to be this way if we just speak up and have them fix it once and for all...
I appreciate that when you engage with the quick flash of text meme, you at least make it enough frames to be able to pause without making the player 25% speed. I hate the meme, but I appreciate you thinking of the pauselets.
This used to be my fav game until they backstabbed the pc players by downgrading their graphics without warning and not allowing refunds and when anyone complained about it they banned them from the community. Fuck the money hungry devs I trusted them and they ruined my favourite game now any round I play there is no mics or quest kids shooting everyone because team killing is so funny. The old good community is gone because of greed.
i love how so far you have managed to find every single VR game around the same time as I did, and you had the exact same reactions as I did!! so weird
If anyone is new, on a whim I bought a Meta Quest 2 and Onward. It is basically rainbow six vr without special operators. I have only been playing 2 days and have been having a blast. I cannot stress enough how amazingly immersive this game is. [I highly recommend having a large area to move and a flat, soft surface to kneel and prone on for the best chance of surviving in this game. This isn't a relaxing or laid back game, you are in a gun fight keeping track of a constantly changing, 7-digit uplink code whilst trying to radio in to tm8s you are under fire. Comfort in the real world is what makes this whole thing truly viable]

Onward is an entirely different situation. Like an Arma game but CoD mixed together vr
Basically Insurgency VR
I'm just going to use habie as a guide for VR gaming from now on. Had Onward in my library for two years and never even booted it up, wish I had as many wrinkles on my brain as you have.
Bro seriously my favorite game. I was gushing about it yesterday to some friends. It's balanced, and is soley reliant on your skill and teamwork. Truly a great game
I’m more into contractors this game got me so hooked that I even bought a overpriced gunstock 😭
9:02 I'm in bed man so I got really scared but of all the people in the world you're probably the nicest stalker out there
hey habie, love your videos and they never fail to put a smile on my face no matter my mood, thanks for doing what you do!
I feel like onward is like if Pavlov and Insurgency Sandstorm had a baby
His content may be asmr cause every time i try to see his videos at night my smoothbrain can't work properly and always falls to sleep. Love you habie keep up the good work!!!
Has a US marine, I can confirm this is real life footage of us on a battlefield
VR needs more proper full games. Feels like for years the VR community has just been playing Onward, Pavlov, blades and sorcery and that hot dogs horse shoes and handgranades game.
Half life
It feels like for years people have been playing csgo and cod
@@boredbored2bored991 Obviously PC and console have more games to play then just the typical titles.
But in VR you're pretty much stuck with the same games
What I'm saying is VR needs more campaign story single player based games, we need more games like half life alyx. VR seems to just get weird wacky funny games instead of proper games that have a proper story to it like half life alyx, medal of honour. And maybe in the future resident evil 4 (but that's mostly gonna be exclusive to different headsets)
@@BarrySmoother yeah I get what you’re saying but there’s a lot of good vr games now saints an sinners Jurassic world after math lies beneath and just some and if you wanna talk shooters larcenauts just released and hyper dash i
Man you got me with the. “Have a good tomorrow if your getting ready for bed.” Just love this man
I guess we can use the past tense now
My favorite part is that all the attachments have some benefit to them. Making gun and class creation feel more customizable to your style rather than a premade gun.
Personally I find onward easier to aim, it feels like the game is simulating actual weight of the gun
Okay I know my comment is going to be lost amongst the others but I just want to say thank you. I really want to get into UA-cam via VR or just other dumb videos and you are a perfect example of what I think a youtuber should be. You don’t pressure people into subscribing or ringing the bell, you ask for a like and then tell people to have a nice day. So thank you for being such a great UA-camr, keep making great content, and I hope YOU have a great day!
I bought it yesterday, cause of the daily sale on the oculus store, and it was worth the 18$
@Mr. CT that's literally what he said
@@gnfq-ig yeah I know, but was it worth it?
@@Absquatulationist idk
You know the quest version is much much worse than the rift one right?
@@szpecunio yea, but the gameplay is intact and still hella fun, even on my shitty quest 1.
Me and a few other guys decided to go first responder only, (pistols with flash/lasers and body armour) and we died 10 times because we were doing elite dificulty lol
you should try contractors is like a hybrid of the fast paced action from pavlov and the tactical gameplay of onward
And with the new overhaul for contractors, is had smoother graphics and character models who's feet actually match the movements instead of floating through the air
I was in a game where some idiot was shooting at my teammate and I in that building and my teammate said something like “you missed all your shots anyway,” but who knows? It could have been someone else
You should have played this when it was at it's prime before the downgrade.
1.7 was the best MP-VR game ever :(
I use to LOVE joining training ranges. However with the new update u can’t go 2 seconds with out someone throwing flash bangs in night version when u have night vision on
Eh, it has never had more players so it is wrong to say that it was at its prime in the past. A multiplayer game is always judged by how many players are actively engaged with it, not how pretty it looks.
@@TechnoMinarchist In that case every mobile game is a masterpiece.
It's overall a net positive.
this guy is the definition of an average game enjoyer, this man has taught me so much about what a video game is meant to be. fun. i've looked back on my collection of video games over the time that i have watched him and realized i own a collection of games that i just play and don't have to much fun in, but now i know what fun is meant to be.
thank you for bringing me happiness in this tough time
Btw game will feel different for new players since there were some controversial updates regarding graphics and the Oculus quest due to an acquisition of this game's game studio by Facebook
Damn looks like another great game ruined through acquisition
dude this is the first youtuber merch that doesnt look like shit, or just says the name. I would actually wear this if I didnt just spend 400 dollars on steam summer sale
Is it just me or does Habie have, like, the same voice as Thrill?
Thrill definitely uses some sort of mic or software to clean up his voice.
Because on his livestreams he sounds noticeably different.
i noticed that too, its weird
Just got a Quest 2 last week and have been watching your videos nonstop. Bless your soul
Nothing against onward or pavlov, but contractors is just more fun for me.
Hell yeah!
Also has crossplay and they didn't have to nuke the pc experience to do it
Does contractors have mods akin to Pavlov?
Because that's what makes Pavlov the king of shooters for me.
Onward I only play because I haven't found a game with a better PvE mode.... Also its crazy immersive.
@@Giliver It does but most games I find are just regular modes. It does have ww2 weapons though which is fun.
Because of the daily deal I had to explain how to load LMGs to 6 people
Also the smg for volk that you were using is not good because for the same class there is an smg that cost the same but is slightly better
Good explanation to the people that didn't watch the full video ✌
Onward is just vr Insurgency
This is exactly like my experiences in Onward, GLORIOUS. Every word you spat out was just how I would have put this game.
Onward was the best VR Shooter until Meta bought it and ruined it for the Quest
I remember i game of onward i played with my brother who was on the oppisite team. My team had an entire plan with snipers watching the objectoves and scouts on the ground to give information. Nothing happenned until the end of the game where we heard a gunshot. After the game i asked the enemy team where they were and turns out they were arguing with my brother and ended up just shooting him
Would like it more if i didn't have toxic teammates constantly. Hard to be a new player in it.
Just mute everyone until you get good enough
Theres actually a whole community and league around Onward, been playing this for about 2 and a half years now and it never ceases to dissapoint!
You sound a bit like thrill seeker
You literally make our days better by 300%.
I used to love Onward, but ever since they ported it to Oculus and destroyed the graphics and layout of the game I cant look at it the same
I love this game so much, but god damn when he says the lobby’s can be like a fever dream, he is not lying
Love onward, my favourite VR shooter because of how fun it can be when you play tactically. also I got no clue why the recoil is so horrible for you, its usually really controllable and pavlov has more recoil than onward. so yeah onward has close to no recoil so you might not have been 2 handing it correctly
My friend plays onward and says there is nothing better than an 8 year old shout his location and hearing an RPG be fired shortly after
A head up to everyone:
If you have an oculus, get the game it's fantastic. If you have PCVR, do not buy this game. The devs sold out to FB and it is terrible on the PC version now.
Nahh the PC version is way better than the quest version. It looks so much better.
I have the Valve index and im thinking about buying this game, cuz I love the slow paced more tactical gameplay, but it seems like recently the game has been downgraded a lot..
anyone here have the game and know if its still worth it?
ive been playing onward since release and the pc version sucks ass after they sold out
@@pixel6173 I really like the PC version and the game in general. Eventhough the graphics have been downgraded a lot, it still looks great and way better than the quest version. I would recommend watching a comparison video from "Eyes on VR". I literally can't go back to the oculus Quest version.
Oculus is a company, not a headset. The PCVR version still takes the cake.
Great game.
6:16 and 6:24 are my favorite parts
Also when you missed all your shots on your teammates, I would have just shot myself
been here since 5k subs. its nice to see that the algorithm picked you up so well!
I love this game so much. escort is so fun and i can play with other smoothbrains.
I’m convinced god sent down a chill funny af UA-camr that makes you enjoy life in the form of this man
was...
it got fucking destroyed in 1.8 because quest and children so now it is completely different and you get team killed by squeakers constantly.
1.7 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1.8
@catlover2543 damn bro.
this dude is the most underrated youtuber I've watched, get this man to 200k
If it had the shots to kill that Pavlov it would be better because you can actually react and people would play more aggressive in my opinion I like more fast paced
Definitely, I've never understood slow paced games like r6s
Yoo you did a great job at introducing this game my friend asked me to play and watch this video and I’m definitely buying it I know it’s a older game now but still excited
6:35 727 WYSI
osu reference
Yes when ever I find something entertaining I literally never check for other games that I thought would be on the vr
Tom Clancy's: Rainbow Six Siege: Virtual Reality
Look at the way he just followed that order at 5:15
“no matter what robot daddy does”
Habie147 2021
The balance of watching and playing on a vr game really makes it like re4 vr it does it well too
Why is there so much quest hate in this comment section. Some people, mostly children, don’t have the money for a pc AND headset. Chill lol.
oculus quest store tho, now its too accessible and ruined by squeakers (I do not own, but that is what is keeping me from buying)
I got a quest from my parents for christmas, and honestly it's fine. I have 2 friends with Indexes and it's like the difference between getting 100% on a test and getting a 92% on a test, the only difference is the quest is 1/5th the cost and much easier to set up and play.
I cant find the quest hate?
Edit: i refreshed
Yeah
@@TeakKey7 Dude, gaming is for everyone and we were all squeakers once. Plus, the more popular and lucrative ($$$) VR is, the better VR gets.
"And they make up for that by making it hard to control the weapons recoil' - proceeds to not use front grips
"blew my mind" had no right to make me laugh as hard as it did! (now to continue with the video)

Didn’t ask :)
Habie keeps telling me not to support him but he’s genuinely the first UA-camr I’ve wanted to give my money to
i love how so far you have managed to find every single VR game around the same time as I did, and you had the exact same reactions as I did!! so weird
Personally i think Ghost of Tabor is the best VR shooter
I still love Onward though
8:50 youtube was on speakers and you did that. First of all, it scared the shit out of me. Second, Now every one thinks I have explosive diarrhea 😂😂😂
