Critical incident Briefing: Oct 25, 2020 22nd Ave & Roy Rogers Officer-involved Shooting

  • The Phoenix Police Department released a Critical Incident Briefing (CIB) video that includes audio, visuals and information related to an officer-involved shooting which shooting occurred on the night of October 25, 2020 northeast of I-17 and Jomax Road.
    Police Officers responded to a domestic fight. The caller told 911 their neighbor, Paul Sarver came to their home with his daughter, asking for a gun and threatening to kill himself.
    Two officers arrived on scene and walked towards the suspect’s house. Before reaching the front door, a man later identified as Paul Sarver emerged from behind a parked vehicle in the driveway. Sarver told the officer he had a gun and simultaneously pointed an item at the officer. Both Officers fired at Sarver, striking him.
    As additional officers arrived, they entered the house and located two victims, a 46-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy, both with obvious signs of trauma. The man, woman and their son all died from their injuries.
