The manga of this series is so underrated. Definitely was slow at first but that helped ease you into the huge cast of all the girls. When shit picked up, it really picked up. I wish the anime would reboot or at least just continue to the other half of the manga.
Cant watch this show without thinking about the end of the manga--which was as about a bad, sad end as I've ever read. Which is why I dont watch this show.
Story doesn't really pick up until we meet Pinocchio, and then everything after Alessandro is honestly great. Anime IMO doesn't really do the manga justice though IMO.
I think anime needs to keep average people interested and has limits due to time. They tend to water down the story and edit the source material due to their targeted audience. Manga needs to grab attention due to art or world building. Longevity of the series leads to a more fleshed out story. Anime crams entire plots to get through the story before people get disinterested. Not that it's impossible to do however it is rare to keep a series afloat for a long time.

It would have been too tedious to try to incorporate real physics into the whole story, so errors are understandable. Sometimes the girls can be thrown or shoved. Yet other times the can overcome a hit. The plot really controlled when they are uber or weak. Second season had more examples of inconsistent strength relating to weight/mass.
