Wow the water is so calm. OMG 6 450HP outboards? That is insane. As a kid in the 1970's I remember being so excited when my best friend's parents bought a boat with a 60 HP and we had a blast water skiing all summer long.
I know right? 60 HP was totally fine for water skiing. Now it's just a numbers game. Who's got the biggest boat with the most horsepower? It doesn't even matter if they only use a fraction of the power on a regular basis. They "need" it for 8 seconds during a hole shot. 🙄 The engines in most of these boats (total) cost more than my HOUSE.
The only thing that beats the sound of high hp inboards at high rpm is the howl of trips or twin Mercury 2.5s screaming at 8k rpm. I’m an outboard tech so I’m a little biased lol
Makes me want to hit the lottery and buy a really nice boat. I guess until that happens, I'll just keep watching these videos and enjoy boating vicariously.
That cigarette racing boat rolling Jays I've moved it several times in and out of the water for the cigarette company before we loaded it on the semi truck to head down to Miami the company that makes these boats is just down the street from me. It's a lot of fun moving these boats for these guys. They're made right here in Titusville Florida
Back in the old days, I got a chance to take a fast ride in a deep-hulled Baha on a calm day on Lake Texoma. Captain got 'er up to 90 MPH. We were going so fast my eyes teared up, and it took my breath away. It was a thrill that I never want to do again, just like sky-diving.
At least the Cigarette Tiranna "Rolling J's" had all 6 Mercs running this time! last video, one they had one one out of commission! Great video, great power boats running and the sounds of those V8's! damn! :-)
Thanks for starting out with that gorgeous Skater -- Michigan born and bred!! The white mystery boat with lightning boat is a Black Thunder, 43 foot I believe. Very big heavy boats with incredibly nice and huge cuddy cabins.
That Freeman cat at the end moves along really well... And when I've seen it run in the rougher water it handles it probably better than most other boats that I've seen. Looks like a real good hull design...
I've seen Freemans running in and out of Haulover many times in rough seas and they handle better than almost every other boat other than the big yachts. If I was in the market for that kind of multihull, Freeman would be at the top of my list.
Woah! Haulover actually has smooth days? So strange to see after that recent video with a 10 knot ebb tide (or whatever it was). The flow was incredible.
That 43' Scarab AVS cruising thru at the end was being driven by APBA Work World Champion Offshore Racer Scott Porta... He can cruise as slow as he wants. The mystery boat at 3min is a 43' Black Thunder with twin 540ci 500hp engines. I was driving the 38' Donzi ZSF at 6min
The gray boat that photobombed the MTI at 5:33 looks like a Victory Cat. Probably outran the MTI also, I saw a test where one of these ran 141 with twin 450's, amazing the speed they get out of these twin engine outboard cats...
