- "Beginners guide to catching BLACKFIN TUNA". The title says it all. In this episode I go over the basics, in detail, to catching Blackfin Tuna. One of the most common tuna found in the waters off South Florida. From the gear you'll need, to baits & spots to fish, how you'll find them, and the best tactic to get into the bite. It's all here in this short, sweet and to-the-point seminar, that brings catching this ultra popular fish, down-to-earth and demystifies the process. I keep the explanations simple and most importantly focus on how to get it done right the first time. If your into these great tasting pelagic fish and aren't having much success, or your thinking about getting into it and want to before more informed before you make the plunge... This episode's for you.
Enjoy,
Tight lines & good vibes.

Another awesome lesson from the best fishing teacher on the Internet. Thank you for taking the time to put this lesson together.
You're a legend - thanks for sharing!
Great info Heath! Haven't caught one in a while but I'll use this info to improve my luck!
Awesome! Let’s go
We will try this before we head north mid April, the reef fishing has been slow here in Key Largo so far.
Mahi are showing up early also
If you and Alfie are ever up in Northwest Florida, let me know. It would be awesome to get out with you fishing one day.
nice one.again
cant wait for yellow fin.
Awesome video Heath. Always learning from your Channel and you make it fun to watch!
Thanks, Heath!
Out of NC there are days I can’t get away from them but for the last 4 years, I’ve yet to boat a Key Largo Blackfin on my boat.
Good stuff thank you!
Great videos Heath! You do an exceptional job of keeping it simple so everybody can head out with a baseline of how to start executing your tips.
Heath, I enjoy watching your videos. You do a great job of explaining the details, Thank you.
Well done!! Nice job on the setup and showing it happen. I live on Big pine, love me some blackfin fishing!
Thanks for this video Heath I need to catch some Tuna to go with the wahoo and cero sushi we have been making.
12:15' nasty weather to a peaceful afternoon, Ah! Florida!
Correct
I got an assortment of teasers, soft(small size)and 2 bigger hardwood behind.(i understand the principle of it .bigger fish chaises the smaller ones)...
1 hook on a skirt on the end?
Easy transition from "yoyos" to rods!planners to down riggers!
And plentiful "grunts" on the reefs...
I personally like double hooks on skirts
Hi Heath, Thank you for more good information. I always learn something from your videos. Hope you are feeling OK. Say "Hi" to the Crew. Take care and have fun, Mickey
Hi Mickey. Since I'm out of the game for a bit.. all I can do is help... And hope my boat misses me as much as I miss it 😁. Hope all is well in Palm Bay. Winter is almost over. Talk to you soon.
By the way, I'm now doing a livestream fishing report every Tuesday at 6:00pm. If you available, drop in and say "Hi".
Hi Heath, get well soon. The fish are waiting for you. Take care, Mickey
My man, I love the content, your work amazing... with that said can you set up a link so we can buy you a decent microphone.
Thanks... And yes I'm working on the mic 😁
Thanks for the great info. So the terminal rig is just 1 oz skirted jig? @ 8-10 kts? How deep does that run them? Imagine pretty shallow?
Yep 1 ounce weighted skirt. Yes 8-10 mph. Lure trolls just below the surface. Tight lines 😁
Early in morrow, late in the afternoon...cockroaches or/and trigerfish.
🤣🤣🤣
How far off shore looking to go down in June
1.5 to 3 miles
What do you use those bucktails for?
Ok, never mind, I asked too early. 😮
Everything eats them
My wife and i are moving down to FL. Those e blackfin are on the top of my list that im dying to catch.. that and mahi. I dont have salt fishing rods yet. Do i need to sell the farm to get a huge quiver of rods?
No I wouldn't go doing that yet 😁. Get some medium class gear, spinners & conventionals 15-30 lb class stuff... Spool it with 20 lb test and that'll get you started
@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing i guess itd be the same for someone watching videos of fishing here in the Colorado rockies where im born and raised. Youd think, by watching videos, youd need flyrods from 4-6 weight just to get your foot in the door. I mainly use a 4 wt 95% of time, have two spin rods for the wife and i and just a couple pitchin rods for bass in the city
Fl is full don’t come!!!
H! Great vid!
Evenrud OMG how old is that thing
