    The difference between the twins and Chet is super apparent when Chet tries to be a “regular” guy. The twins are 100% authentic, whereas Chet is trying to escape the life he was born into. It’s kinda sad really. You can see the pain in his eyes. He doesn’t fit in either world. It’s just a lifetime of pretending to “be himself “.

    • @nikkjcrespo
      @nikkjcrespo 2 роки тому +22

      It is a bit funny to read all the comments here about how "genuine" Chet comes across in these interviews. Yeah, he's not as much the douchebag rich white boy we thought, but he is still someone who grew up privileged and is trying to escape his identity and be someone else. The Hoff Twins are insane but they're not pretending to be that way (like Grimes for example). It's a bit sad but I think a lot of people are trying to escape who they are and wear some type of mask or throw themselves into an opposing subculture that they wish to be a part of.

I think that’s the true difference between the two. The key factor is that Chet has always had a cushion to fall back on no matter how hard he fucks around, the twins truly keep it real because that’s literally the only thing they’ve had going for them this far. His father was a meme and famous, he didn't have much of a social life at all, he had little free money as a kid, etc. He grew up in such a starkly different way that it is unfair to try and psychoanalyze him when none of us have been in his shoes. It's like a white, natural-born American trying to psychoanalyze a Brazilian immigrant. We can't expect to fairly diagnose them because in their culture what we see as abnormal is actually normal.

He and his life are very complex the fact that he grew up with so much wealth and attention that no one could imagine easily, extremely privileged yet it doesn’t necessarily mean happiness. As someone looking from the outside, you could tell he knows exactly what he’s doing and he has incredible amount of love for his family yet he still couldn’t say too much because even the tiniest thing is up for all kinds of interpretation. Just imagine you need to live up a standard of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. He’s so much more than he appears to be. It’s not all good or bad, but it definitely makes him incredibly fascinating. The only thing people really need to know is that he means no harm that’s all and has kindness at heart. Let him live his life.

    I think this video feels so wholesome because it shows that we all have wealth in some areas of life and deficiencies in others. We need to start recognising that so many of the things that society says are far more important just aren't.
    There are a lot of proverbs that come to mind, but I think "The grass is always greener..." fits pretty nicely. I've been seeing a lot of interviews with celebrities who talk about how their pursuit and attainment of fame just results in them feeling empty and disconnected.
    We're all different, we all have our skills and faults, but we need to start seeing more of these things as just as valuable as cash and clout.

    The part when dude said "I'm tryna watch Forest Gump wit cho Pops," I felt for Chet right there. He said in his piece that he's frustrated about having to deal with, literally, that entire sentence his entire life. Mans comes here, thinking these dudes are probably not going to bring it up and BAM!
    Also, I thought it was interesting watching Chet react to them speak on growing up broke and money bringing happiness. I felt like he wanted to chime in, but maybe didn't because he KNEW his message would be lost in the sauce.
    I believe that thinks Chet he would love to have the "respect" that the Hoff Twins have and the Hoff Twins want the rich and fame Chet has. Both would experience life on the other side and regret every second.

One thing I've learned from this little insight into the world of the wealthy, is that many of them are some of the most miserable people around. The first video I legitimately think he was on coke or some sort of substance whereas this video he is in a totally different mindset. He seems so empathetic and the twins seems so bitter after his monologue essentially. Literally just my opinion though
