  • The Skoda Kushaq SUV comes with two engine options that include a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit and a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine. Out of the two, the smaller engine has been the subject of doubt for some. Its capability to cope with various terrains and carry the load of the vehicle was properly tested during one of our recent drives up the hills of Mussoorie.

Also factor in that ac would not have been used while climbing due to winters, it can be challenging if ac has to be used while climbing up

I recently bought a 1.0 tsi taigun manual. Few days back I took it to a hill station with 5 people and some luggage. Normal hills it had no problem climbing. But steep uphills, I had to shift to 1st gear. And also on such steep uphills if I had to stop in between and then start, I did feel the power lag and honestly it was frustrating. I had to rev the engine with half clutch to prevent the car from moving backwards. But otherwise it’s a brilliant car. And I own the highlline version and it doesn’t come with hill stop assist

It's 100% true, I own Kushaq and it has the same problem. Everyone usually goes with their friends or family with full loaded car and many time we are using the AS as well but at that time on the steeps its totally non performing asset. I'm driving car from last 20 years but on hills I'm not confident with this car I've cover the north east terrain with this car and I had a lot of issues while coming on hills. After 4000 rpm its AC also stop cooling the car.

The rev limiter becomes a pain if you are stuck uphill. You cannot rev it till 6k rpm to pull it in slight offroad conditions where cars like venue and brezza easily pull off.

How does the 1.5 Ltr. DSG compares with the 1Ltr. Torque Converter automatic, in climbing hills with rough roads not the smooth roads you were driving?

Boss I think this is not right test you are show casing in front of us. I own Kushaq and it has alot of issue on mountains. Everyone usually goes with their friends or family with full loaded car and many time we are using the AS as well but at that time on the steeps its totally non performing asset. I'm driving car from last 20 years and had visited lot of hill stations but I'm not confident with this car bcoz of turbo issue over the hills, I've cover the north east terrain with this car and I had a lot of issues while driving on hills. Mussoorie is not too hill to judge this and you are driving alone. After 4000 rpm its AC also stop cooling the car. Boss this is not the right image you are showcasing infront of us.

I have also gone on the mountains with Kushaq. Must be the roads but I find it to be super quick to over take and climb the hills.
I think you should get it checked..

The initial lag is going to frustrate the driver when crawling in jam on an incline with 4 people and luggage, and it would be quite a challenge to reverse it from standstill on an incline without going downhill for a second due to initial lag.

@@muhammadarshiq6365yes it causes a lot of problem when there is a little bit of loss of traction. The rev limiter also becomes a problem if you are stuck uphill on a "kacchi" road.

There are only two occupants in the car. Still you mentioned that there is some lag in power delivery.
With five occupants and their luggage, it will probably struggle to climb.

It's better to put it in manual and use paddle shifters in that case. Local drivers put 5 people in Alto or Eon and climb steeper climbs.. Just put in manual and shift according to load
