Travel is my life, but due to Covid I've had to resort to Google Earth in VR for the past months. It's a decent substitute...sure... but you can't help but miss the smells of salt water, coconut and palm tree leafes from my many travels in the Carribean haha you know what I mean. Oh well when Covid's over I'm hoping to go on more sponsored hotel yoga retreats. Or I guess if I wear a mask I can travel now but they aren't hosting any so xx #travelforlife

My mom tells a story where she was on a group trip with a bunch of little girls her age and they were on a stopover in Italy. The flight they were supposed to catch left early and they had to wait until the next day. The next day kept going and they still couldn't get a flight until her leader broke down crying at which point they were put on a first class trip.

I generally find that the adventure side of traveling is often, meh. The adversity side of travel makes for the best stories. Those that your friends won't be bored to here. Especially if you throw in a, "Yeah, I was a complete dumb ass."

I am doing my fair share of travelling and I can verify that plenty of 20somethings - 30sometiings doing those round trips around the world are like that! LOL! They do visit a lot of countries, they may as well sit down with locals and learn a bit from the language, and yet.... they have only a superficial understanding of the country and its people, not even the 10% of what I have even before visiting the country. There are things which are called "general knowledge" and "street-wisdom" which cannot be replaced easily by the frequency of travelling and the number of countries. I was in Indonesia and the locals could relate more to me rather than people who stayed there for quite some months. Precisely because Ii saw them as people. These travelling guys saw them as... background to their experiences album, as a checklist.
