Thanks for watching, paint prep is key if you are doing that as the paint doesn’t stick easily to them otherwise more people would have done it, I tried and failed. Back to tape for me
@@rickynelson9647 you can get proper belt line tape on eBay from a number of sellers specific for the Mini. Make sure you clean the chrome with a degreaser and let it fully dry before trying to stick It on
Thanks for this. Now I can try to act like I know what I’m doing. 🤣 Really good guide, seriously! Never knew it was called a beltline. I’m going to clean up the dechrome all around. What’s the trick to popping the gas cap shell? Thanks again!
Love the video. Clips everywhere, lol. What kind of paint did you use? The wrap guys kind of did a continuous wrap over the hood and beltline. It’s parking on the beltline a bit. Thanks man!
Just a quick heads up:. The front windshield clips are going to snap in half left and right. Go ahead and order a minimum of 4 trim inserts (part number 51317111933) and maybe a few of the retaining clips, they don't break as easily. The door panels rear panels and hatch trim did not have nearly as many problems and were actually pretty easy.
I actually replaced a couple under the windscreen. I couldn’t fit them as they are as like you say you would need to remove the glass, so I actually dremeled the back edge of the clip slightly and it slid right under the glass 👍🏼
Hi thanks for the comment. I’ve never taken the belt line from an R56 Hatch, here is a video from my R55 which would be similar: Mini 2nd Gen Alternative to Tape How to Dechrome Your Chrome Belt Line With Paint R55 R56 Clubman ua-cam.com/video/sE7aFWehYMc/v-deo.html different being you may be able to remove the rear and side trims on an r56 hatch
Only thing you have to be careful is breaking the clips as these cars are getting old so all the plastic clips under the glass can snap. Not sure how easy they are to replace.
They appear to be in the same spot as #9 , but the clip in the diagram doesn't look the same. Is there anyway I can shoot you a photo? That'd be a great help.
Your content is amazing mate. You seriously need to be sponsored by mini. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the amazing feedback, glad you find it useful
Going to been doing some paint correction on my mini. Thanks for this video. Now I do not have to mask all my trim off. Thumbs up 👍.
Glad it helped
Awesome video wanted to paint mine and didn’t know the best way to remove. Pretty simple actually. Thank you.

Hi thanks for watching, can’t remember re the r53 petrol cap. May be worth a Google
@@tweedbean all good. I hit it with some Cerakote and it looks fantastic now.
Thats a stunner mate, have you got vids of interior mods eg buckets and steering wheel fitting
Unfortunately those mods were done before I really started doing UA-cam tutorials. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Hi the paint didn’t last so I ended up using the belt line tape you get on eBay etc

Thanks for the video brother! Helped me out a lot.

Great tip
@paul do you know the part number for the rear windshield clips?
I have a blue r53 s with white mirrors, roof and stripes do you think black would look better than chrome?
I personally think chrome can work with a white roof etc, what colour are your wheels? Is the rest of the car stock?
White wheels and yes rest of the car is stock it doesnt look bad just wondering if black would look better
Can you do a video on the roof gutter trim replacement mines fell off
I will have a look as it’s sounds like an easy video to do
Did you paint the chrome trim or just apply black tape?
Some really well fitted tape. I have experimented with paint but couldn’t get it to last well. Possibly down to my prep
@tweedbean Dont suppose you know how to replace the plastic clips on the bodywork if they are broken?
Sorry not sure
Great guide mate.
Thanks for watching
Where do you order all black trim line though?
Hi you have to buy the belt line tape from eBay they don’t do off the shelf replacement trim for the r53
Is this the same for the R56?
Unfortunately apparently rear glass has to be removed to replace the r56 ones.
What about he rubber around the window just above the clips can you change that ? Mines slightly torn about and inch right where the door meets
The belt line trim is all one piece so have to replace that section of belt line if that’s the rubber you are on about
Where you buy your black kit from. ?
Hi killallchrome do one as well as plenty of other eBay stores 👍🏼
I need the trim. Not just tape. Front, sides and rear. 😬 No one seems to do it.
You would have to buy new from Mini or second hand from a scrap yard. No aftermarket options
Ok. Thanks.
I remember on my R53 (rip) a decent amount of the clips were broken... you'd have to remove the glass to replace those.... I think.

Great vid! Is the removal process the same for an 2007 R56?

@@tweedbean thanks! I'm going to tackle this, the side mirror caps, and headlights soon on mine. Appreciate ya! 😎
Is it the same for a r56 non s year 2013
Very similar
Do you have a link to where to buy the black belt line?

How do you remove the clips in the hatch it's self that the trim snaps into without breaking them?
Sorry I havent had to replace one before so not entirely sure. Thanks for watching
Well this is way easier than leaving them on your car when you paint them. Fml

i know this video is old but anyone have the part numbers for the black trim thanks
Hi there isn’t a part number, Mini don’t make OEM black belt line. You have to buy beltline tape from eBay
do you have a link please i cant find it

Anyone know where to find the chrome belt aftermarket?
Do you mean the tape? The dont do an aftermarket replacement as such
warp color what?
Assume your asking what colour the car is? It’s not a wrap, it’s painted Porsche RS green
@@tweedbean ok thank you
Seems to easy.. i guess if i try it after years fitted on the car all my clips go bad.
My car is a 2006 and I had no issues with clips but you can purchase replacement clips if needed I would assume
Can you do this with an R56 Cooper S. I need this!
You can’t as it’s mounted under the glass
