@@architdutta8288: Don't know if it's true that milkmen ask for lift from trains in Bihar, but I won't be surprised if that happens. When I visited Jharkhand and Bihar, I saw trains stopping in the middle of nowhere just because there were passengers. No station, no platform, not even a signboard bearing the name of the station, absolute barren land. And that's a common route for passenger service. Just imagine! And yes, milkmen carrying their jars and cycles hang them along the external body of the coaches by the window rods. That's the convention there.

A train cannot stop for someone the train was slow before it saw you and there would be a red signal and the driver already knows when there is a red signal and he slows down the speed from a distance to stop at signal u must be at the signal and u got the train and also it was an empty rake. Stopping the without any serious reason and signal may lead to suspension from job

In Mumbai, in chunabhatti Station, i was coming down the staircase when I saw a local leaving. The staircase is Clearly visible from the engine. The train was moving out when I waved my hand asking the train to slow down while feeling incredulous inside how it can happen and believe it, it happened. The train slowed sufficiently for me to get in!!
I travel daily...and here in Mumbai thida happens daily...local trains slow down so that people dont try to catch the train running and get harmed

Make a plan to visit Jorhat City (The 2nd largest urban area) in Assam. Their are 3 Gurudwara's in Jorhat City. One Gurudwara near Vishal mega Mart, Gar ali road, lahoty. 2nd Gurudwara near Royal enfield showroom, Rajabari road and 3rd Gurudwara near MES gate, Rowriah road near Jorhat airport.

The train didn't stop because he waved his hand, it stopped because it was waiting for other train to go, the loco pilot doesn't have the rights to stop train in any circumstances (exept emergency conditions) the loco pilot will be fired if he/she stops when they don't have a signal to stop
