People are turned off when walking into a Rolex store. Went into one in Miami and the first thing they said in a snotty voice was you can’t buy anything here nothing is for sale. Minneapolis same shitty thing. Chicago the lady there was nicer but the entire experience turned me off on buying my first Rolex. I’ve got three bond omegas and I love them. Great experience buying them also.
Whatever the market, it doesn’t make any difference to the grey dealers. They work on a 20% mark up! Percentages are percentages 🤷🏻♂️ They’ll make the same!
Rolex is great, but once you've had one you realize there are other brands out there that are also worth your attention. Perhaps that's also playing a role in the softening of the market. Good video Charlie.
I actually had a black Submariner but traded it for a Bluesy. Nothing wrong with the black one, and I agree that the no-date looks cleaner, but the Bluesy stands out so much more, and I fell in love with it instantly. Even though it doesn’t hold the same resale value, you’ve got to go for what you love in the end. Btw, I love these videos mate 👍
Thanks for all your great video content and advice over 2024! I’m hopeful of being in a position to buy my first Rolex in 2025. Won’t be doing the dance at the AD will be going straight to the grey market!
I’ve been looking all over for information but I haven’t found the answer yet, I recently saw a yellow gold John Mayer Daytona with Arabic numerals on the dial, is that a factory Daytona in the Middle East only? Or did someone make it aftermarket? Thx.
Do you all wanna know how to increase the value of your Rolex watches in 2025? Don’t sell your watches to gray market dealers. I promise you, if we all follow this advice, your watches will more than double in value! Trust me!
All watches need to be available at every AD and at retail prices thats what will ultimately kill the entire industry as most people don't care after awhile and loose interest like me a life long WIS.
I was able to pick up a datejust two tone 41mm on oyster and had to add diamond bezel and a diamond Roman dial.😎also my daily is the Starbucks. Everything is for sale on independent jewelers.

Wishing you and all your family and friends a wonderful magical Christmas and New Year filled with joy happiness kindness love and with gratitude for everything we have received though out 2024 🎄best wishes
Even though I don’t care much about Rolex. His channel is actually really good about the watch market, because Rolex is king and the declining market is worse on other brands
Love the videos but I genuinely struggle to understand how the operation works it feels like this is your passion and I love that but for me this whole industry is based on selling people a dream of exclusivity similar to the hype shoes runners market which for me such a soleless thing to do just my opinion
I would've happily paid retail price for a Rolex earlier in the year, but nobody was interested in selling me one no matter where I went. I ended up buying the new Tudor BB GMT because I could actually get one. Next time I get a few quid, I might have better luck 🤞
What!! Nah 😂 I was able to upgrade my 36mm two tone datejust to a two tone 41mm and also buy a used Starbucks. Great prices on both at reputable jewelers.
@@misterzero8667 How do you know what I wanted? I'm not interested in a Daytona or a Pepsi for that matter. Thanks for assuming you know me or what I was looking for. Stupid comment, silly boy
I have my name down for a Bruce Wayne and a Submariner, I’ve bought the Seadweller 43 anniversary because it was available and it goes towards my spending history for my two watches that I’m wanting… still waiting for a call, I’m not the most patient person and this waiting list thing is not for me, I’ll give it another six months or so then I’m going to buy a motorcycle and just keep the Seadweller 43 screw Rolex and all this waiting list rubbish.
SD 43 offered to me me 20 mos. ago- I declined, not taking that L. I’ll get it for 10.6K lightly used soon. Prefer my Tutor tbh, which I got for 30% below retail all inclusive by paying cash.
I have just sold my james Cameron which I purchased from a rolex AD in 2017, I ordered 2 other models in early 2018 and all I've had from them every time I enquired about my order is lies and excuses, they even lied to my face in January 2020 about my collection of said watches. Still waiting and still getting nothing but fobbed off. Not honest people to deal with and as a result of my experience with ADs I wouldn't put a rolex on my wrist if they paid me.
yes AD behavior is destroying the brand. So many people feel cold now towards the brand. I wouldn't be see in one now as a direct result of AD behaviour and scarcity sales model.
Very sorry to hear that Robert. Unfortunately a lot of ADs give terrible customer service, though there are some good ones out there. Hopefully you end up getting the call soon 🤞
I still don't understand how the gray market retailers get their watches. Perhaps of the contracts with AD's which prefer to sell them at higher prices rather than at retail to the "normal" clients. Sad, very sad.
@@edoardocentis515 you don’t need to keep watches forever to be a collector. Sometimes you get bored of a watch or wish to trade up to something even better. Good thing about Rolex is that you can sell or trade up and not lose money.
A buyers market is when the all steel watches are no more than 15% above retail on the gray market for a new unworn. I’m not buying until that happens. In the meantime plenty of beautiful watches can be had from AD’s from other brands with little to no wait times. Time for Rolex to squash the gray market.
If the dealer is buying and selling at increasingly lower prices but keeping their mark-up in pounds terms fixed, the dealer's gross profit margin % will improve.
Rolex should just increase pricing to where the market finds equilibrium and stop this stupid dance that jerks everyone around. Imagine having to buy models and products you don't want for the privilege of joint a waiting list for something else and suffer the ridiculous behavior of the ADs. It's disrespectful to customers and is hurting the brand.
I prefer they keep playing such games because if they don't then all these "luxury" brands will lose their perceived exclusivity status and drive prices below retail.

In demand products are hard to get , omega are not in demand this easy availability worth 50% less when you sell them
@ you still don’t treat people like crap
Sorry to hear that Kevin, not surprised it has put you off the brand! Omega do some great watches, enjoy them!
What was your attitude when you walked in? How did you present yourself? Sometimes you get what you give…..ya know?
I walked into Bucherer yesterday and was only greeted by security 😂, Walked nextdoor into Omega and was treated much better.
Cannot see the market returning. Post Covid, less demand, less waiting time with ADs means lower grey market prices
It will be interesting to see how it goes in 2025 👍

Why would anyone sell a new Rolex to a grey market dealer under list, unless they’re getting a massive discount on the RRP from the AD
Because they bought that Rolex just to have purchase history and get in line for the one he/she actually wanted? It's not uncommon.
Usually to work their way up the list for the bigger pieces 👍

buyers market charlie ? why did rolex got fined nearly £800M by france , due to their poor performance selling

Watches are always being sold or traded by collectors.
If you follow any gray watch market. You'll realize how many they buy and sell a day.
I call them flippers, not collectors.

Hard to believe you would buy two tone watches at retail from the AD and sell under retail unless the AD is selling you extreme hard to get models.
Visited my AD this week had my customary champagne picked up my 17th watch dont give up guys your time will come

My advice - get rid of your inventory. Watches about to get hammered.
