Sometimes you need to get in close and a big hammer with a long handle won't fit. This is why I like to keep a modified hammer on hand. This one turned out perfectly.
Octaginiz! In the beginning I thought you said antaiginize. I thought, hey, I antaiginize my tools, not ToolScouter. This morning I have had Rollerbald, ScoutCrafter, and ToolScouter. What a morning. Great video. Love these types of tool rehabs.
What a gorgeous looking hammer, always enjoy what effort you put into your restorations. Been busy with life but I get at least time to follow and keep up on everyone. Thanks again and see you next time.
Thanks so much for your visit and kind words. I take it you’re still in the middle of moving. Hope things go well and I’ll see you on the next one. Have a great weekend.
You’re right. Once in a while, you need to pound the fire out of something. This thing should do it. Yes, with this hammer I tip my hat as a salute to ScoutCrafter. I do like his color of red. Thanks for coming by and have a great weekend.
Yes, having the right drift will make a difference. In many cases, I keep all kinds of different size rods and bolts, and will use them in projects like this.
Hammer balance is in the hand of “bewielder”! I’ll bet that’s a fun hammer to use. Such a good proportion! Well done Toolscouter! Nice paint and handling look!
You and I think a lot alike. That octagonal handle helps keep it aligned properly in my hand and I think they’re more comfortable. Thanks for coming by for a visit. I hope you have a great weekend.
Awesome! I just posted a video earlier this week with a ball pien from my collection. I don't use them often, but I'm glad a have several pounds to choose from when i need one.
Yes, in many cases I do. I have a whole bunch of scrap poplar and it works well as wedges. In this case, it was a left over from another project. It seem to work well.
Yes, that is a Stanley 700. I don’t know a whole lot about it, a friend of mine gave it to me. When he gave it to me, he already had the MDF board on the inside of the jaws to keep from scratching whatever you are working on. It sat in my shed for a long time because I presumed it was strictly for picture frames. I saw somebody else using it for another application and I said, “why don’t I do that?” So I slapped it on that workbench. Sorry I can’t tell you anything more about it. Thanks so much for your visit and have a great weekend.
Nice hammer, it'll probably become a favorite, those short handled ones are handy.
The short handle on true or handy once in a while. So glad to have you stop by for a visit. Hope you have a great weekend.

Beautiful hammer! The red highlights look great and nice handle.
Thank you Larry. Appreciate your kind words and for your visit. Hope you have a great weekend.
Scoutcrafter will be jealous, especially in red! Very nice job. That will be a great user hammer. You can pound the fire out of something.

Nicely done! Every shop needs one! 😃👍🇺🇸
This is true. I even use your color. Tip of the hat to you.🙂 thanks for coming by and have a great weekend.
Love the improvised drift! I've got tons of drifts and punches but can never seem to put my hands on just the right one when I need it! Lol

Nice resto on the hammer. I like the RED paint.

Nice job on that handle. Making that handle octagonal really helps with the grip. Nice size head too. 👍🏻👊🏻

It was a very simple project, but a lot of fun to do. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
I love the 2x4 work holding! Always learn something new thank you!
You bet. Thank you so much for coming by the shop for a visit. Hope you have a great weekend.
Very nice restoration. I have been making a set of short handled hammers. They are very handy in the shop for tight spots
Very nice. They sure do come in handy at times. Have fun with your projects and thanks for stopping by the shop for a visit. Have a great weekend.
Very nice! The red and the polished head complement each other.
Thank you very much. I appreciate you stopping by for a visit. Hope you have a great weekend.
Great project! ScoutCrafter had us all make a short handle hammer a few years ago and I use mine often.
That’s great to hear. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day.
I’d never seen removing the wedge like that! Wish I had seen that on the last axe I worked on! Great video! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for coming by to visit me in the shop. I’m glad you found something useful in the video. Hope you have a great week.

They are a very useful hammer. I saw the hatch you were making with them. Very cool. Thanks so much for coming by and have a great weekend.
Turned out awesome.
Thanks Terry. Have a great weekend.
Like how set the wedges and didn't scratch the paint
Thank you. Sometimes I’m not so lucky but this time it turned out well. Thank you for your visit and have a great weekend.
Great project! Besides, what kind of maniac doesn’t have a short-handled ball spin hammer?
I couldn’t agree more! We don’t want to be like one of those guys.
Do you make your own wedges!
Yes, in many cases I do. I have a whole bunch of scrap poplar and it works well as wedges. In this case, it was a left over from another project. It seem to work well.
Also, I just noticed your bolt-on corner vise. I have only seen the screw-type mounts. Can you tell us a bit more about it?
