Sir, can you please also do a comparison video, Fleece vs wool? Liked this video a lot.

Thank you! Great to get a perspective from an extreme experienced consumer. I’m contemplating using a fleece blanket for camping vs down, and instead of a sleeping bag.

Fleece is a great option for summer camping.

Cold and/or wet and ACTIVE = fleece
cold, dry and non-active = Down

Fleece makes a great mid-layer even in when skiing in zero Fahrenheit. Skied almost a month last season in freezing temperatures with base layer, mid-layer fleece and lightly insulated ski jacket.

It's a great setup for sure.

Great video, I'm in the UK, very damp here, not arctic temps, but if wet and windy it can kill you, fleece is the first choice, if anything, I just take the down in a drying as a backup for night time in the tent.

Very interesting. What are the differences in terms of breathability between these 2 options?

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  3 роки тому +3

Fleece is more breathable at the expense of not blocking wind as well.

      @@ALinsdau thanks for your reply.
My own experiences with the 4 types of supports available the fleece Synthetic Insulation down type insulation and the merino wool led me to privilege for the layers close to the body and above as long as I am above 5 degrees the merino wool. If I go up in high altitude and if I am then in temperatures below 5 degrees I will then use down which will also protect me if there is a lot of wind. If the weather is humid or if the wind is completely crazy I have an ultra light Gore-Tex. After years of practice on the house put the best mix.
I have moved away from fleece and synthetic insulation because I find them less breathable than merino wool which also manages I feel much better body température.

It's a tough call. Down is warmer but..

    Actually a very good explanation!
But I all cant decide 😂
What would you recommend against cool night on a tropical mountain top?
Meaning the hike is very hot and humid, but I will only wear the jacket at camp at night.
But because its so hot except at the top I don't want to carry much jacket weight ..
    Dilemma 😁

Fleece - It will be much more versatile than a down jacket. When things are swampy, down is quite unpleasant. Enjoy your time in the tropics!
