Great job. Makes one feel so sorry for what the Germans went through. Just boys wanting to go home.mHaving to fight because they were ordered to do so and how awful it must have been to be Injured and dying with no help. Far away from home. RIP fallen heroes. Salute and Respect
Although the acting isn’t the best, the use of young people to portray soldiers was very accurate. Both world wars are famous for utilizing boys as young as 15 and turning them into soldiers.
@@liamwiggins6594 yeah but they could of tried hiding it more. Maybe use a really short dingy pencil. That stuck out really bad especially being me open acted But, eventually if they keep at it they'll get better.
Give these small independent film makers credit they do the best they can, don't nit pick give credit where it is due, someday they may have a budget to fit your desires as a critic.
I worked at JCPenny, those are the same kind, Paper Mate, I still have several! 1980’s circa! Other than the blue pen, out of place, time warped, back to 1943! The dude should’ve picked up, the MG-42, and hosed those Russkies! He’d have made it, “END”
These short films about World War 2 are important. They show these young soldiers fighting just to stay alive. The ones from the German perspective show not all Germans were bad, committed atrocities or participated in The Holocaust.
Tips for cold weather acting! Blink more frequently and being hunched over is more accurate! Use different shot types (close, medium, far) to show more setting- maybe intro could've been medium shot showing our main guy with our other 2 soldiers around him, symmetrically, then the guard walks past, could be cool opening. Jump cut to close shot of writing, then maybe switch to a medium shot that looks similar in his flashback- that would be a really cool transition! Just some things I think would make it look better editorially. Also, take more scenic shots just showing off the landscape you're in, a great way to show walking long distances is to do a very long shot of your actors centered walking through a field (any open space) while the camera follows them. Im not an expert, dont get me wrong but i know a good amount about editing :) As for sound, make sure you can hear your dialogue, and it's not drowned out by background noise, as well as add background noise- he's on the front, give us some ever so distant artillery and occasional gunfire. editing can change everything!! Also, for actors- too much space between lines in conversation! Natural conversation almost has an overlap, don't be scared to say your line. Acting out gun recoil is a lot more snappy and horizontal- basically do NOT move your gun up unless firing full auto, as recoil kicks the stock of your weapon STRAIGHT back into your shoulder. Also, when being shot at always act to run for some sort of cover, that could be anything- think of it like you're a real soldier, and you're running from real bullets- where do you go? That high grass behind you? That tree? Anything will improve immersive-ness. When you're in a trench, do you get out of that trench with a hundred enemy guns pointed at you, and how high would you risk putting your head? Also, more screams on death lols. That being said, excellent work guys! Keep it up! I've dropped a sub to see how yall progress ;)
Hi LBRM Films, excellent short film, very deep in emotions and meaning. Please forgive the numerous "Internet experts" that just love to criticize details, uniforms, weapons, "writing", cinematographic technique, etc. This short film is not a reference for German nor Red Army uniforms and equipment, it is about relationship, humanity (or what was left of it) and the insanity of war. About the technical aspects such as cinematography or sound engineering - most pros will understand that your studio did very well considering your budget and resources. I am a Veteran of three wars and was a cinema student in college, it was not easy (producing a film, that is) - I am/was impressed by your work - keep on going, you are on the right path. Ciao, L
This is good. Thanks. There were a few modern artifacts which were noticeable, like a TV antenna on the house in the opening scene but they didn't distract too much.
I noticed the 1960 antenna also. Strange also that 1 soldier had a white towel around his helmet while all the others wore brown/green colours, hardly helpfull in the snow.
Very difficult to hear some of the dialogue due to the wind and what sounds like highway noise. Also the camouflage smocks. I thought only SS troops wore those.
The Wehrmacht had splinter and tan & water camo with their smocks and winter coats (as shown in the film. The SS had oakleaf, blurred edge and peas dot camo which all look similar and was synthesized by the post war German flectarn camo). A good example of an SS camo is shown by the soldier lying on the floor at 12:18 and towards the end with the execution of an SS soldier (along with the execution of two Wehrmacht soldiers, one wearing splinter and the other tan & water camo).
Probably don't have a modern plastic blue pen when writing, and instead of a piece of paper write it in a leather journal, rip the paper out, then mail it. That was the only think that was wrong though, this is easily your top 3 best short films.
This is a beautiful and sweet little film...you did an amazing job! I know that its low budget, but I believe that you did amazing with what you had to work with.. Continue to create and inspire by making these films...because I really love WW2 stuff.. so this film is really intriguing for me... Do you have any ideas for another film? Maybe do one about a pilot or a tanker??.. (if you can) At any rate this is brilliant! Good Job!
Saludos!
Der Deutsche Panzerbetreiber the last part is cuz Stalin wanted the Germans to spend extra bullets and also so he could show power, overall Stalin was as evil as Hitler was

I see a lot of film where troops seem to act passively without agency. You need to understand the will to survive these faces these expressions the body language It’s like they are walking in their living room with a cup of coco. That said a good concept and I commend you for your work. All filming of history is important. You need to get advice from veterans though.
You really should not be so critical on a film with little budget and the fact this is portrayed for free really means you should appreciate what they had if you want a perfect Over the top action film go back to Holywood
As they (these very young 'german soldiers' ) sit guarding some terrain armed, one feels one can hear some interstate highway in the background? Uniforms etc brilliant, crisp filming but please.........for me maybe these troops should be speaking in german.?.
Chris Batchelor Unfortunately only two of the actors in this film could speak German. It also happens that most of our audience is English-speaking, so we decided to make the film in English.

This is our longest video yet! Hope you enjoy it!

A good effort on a low budget. Your next film will am sure keep to the details of ww2 . Keep trying perfection is around the corner 👍
That's a futuristic pen he's writing "Greta" with.
that ended even watching it
It doesn’t really matter that much they’re just here to entertain us
I knew that the Germans time travelled during ww2
Not to mention the clean faces, after a long time in combat, they would be hella dirty
Although the acting isn’t the best, the use of young people to portray soldiers was very accurate. Both world wars are famous for utilizing boys as young as 15 and turning them into soldiers.
@Itz_Jelle he litteraly explained it
8 and older
@Itz_Jelle some soldiers in Europe were as young as 8 years old the soviets had a 6 year old
I think they forgot about the style of the pen he used to write the letter, defiantly not 1940's style
Well actually no they probably didn’t and their probably hard to find from ww2 era

What?! You mean blue plastic Paper Mate ballpoint pens were not standard SS issue?
His girlfriend's hair and dress is not 1940s either.
They used pencils mostly especially the ordinary soldiers. Other that that fountain pens if available.
Pure excitement for the length!
I like the short Film idea and they are class mostly
1:07 Those Pens Weren't Created Until the Late 50's and 60's i think after NASA Launched a Person into space.
A**
Its hard to get pens from ww2 time era

That hair design and color were not around in the 1940's. or her clothes..
12:26 and who's that person in the background?
I liked it daddy was a paratrooper 82. He said the Germans were good soldier's.

WHO WAS THE GUY CENTRE BACKGROUND AT 12 . 30 ?
At 5:05, why is that German soldier's helmet covered in chicken wire? What's the chicken wire for?
I think to insert foliage to the helmet for camouflage.

Der Oberfeldwebel hatt wuschige Augenbrauen 😂.

nice plastic pen in the start
Finally
The pen is an anachronism.
A ball point pen??? They did not come along until the 1960s.

Good film, though the guy with the strumgewehr has a decidedly modern looking pink shirt tail peeking out under his tunic.
No he better not die
Doesn't this short film remind anybody of Sven Hassell's novels????????

It looked okay. Make a big movie.
No pen like that in WWII
Moral of the story - No time to eat Oscar Meyer weiners on the Russian front. Sounded like it was filmed next to the autobon.

I can't even watch it. He's writing with a pen that didn't even exist during WW II.
His uniform's made in China, along with his pen.
👍👍
I don’t believe those plastic is pens were available.
Wow
That German Lieutenant. Could have had 100 soldiers, and my 4 man national guard fire team would have destroyed them. Absolutely NO tactical sense.
AMAZING but one thing the Germans need to speak German
they Wehrmacht had blue bic ballpoint pens in 1945 ? TV antennae ? All in all not a bad short film.
