- Bullwhip Effect occurs in supply chain management. It is also called Demand Driven MRP, or DDMRP for short,
The Bullwhip effect distorts the perception of reality and often leads to wrong decisions involving large investments.
Amrsha Srivastava, Shubhangi Srivastava, Reshma Xavier, Kashyap Sheth, Shraddha Nemane, created this video with support from Dr Shrinivas Gondhalekar to explain the concept at a very basic level. The video also shows how to eliminate/minimize the Bullwhip Effect.
We have uploaded this video on Amrsha's birthday as a token of our love, affection, and respect.
Bull whip effect is a good demonstration of how psychology affects reality.
Wow! I really like this post!!
Thank you. Grateful for your appreciation.
Thank you so much for the appreciation!
Great concept, easy explanation. I think in today's scenario the auto industry did suffer from bull whip effect. The solutions mentioned can be useful.

Being a Supply chain enthusiast, can't believe there can be any other more simple explanation on Bullwhip effect and Kanban than this. 👍
Methods man!!!! Hats offf!!!!
Thank you
Replacing psychology with technology reduced the lead time and the bull whip effect on the supply chain. The effect of eliminating nodes between the customer and manufacturer was clearly shown in the presentation. This will also help in the efficient inventory management. The analogy of a hose was very nice and helped in understanding the concept. The effects and problems of over estimation of demand was clear in this. Thank you sir for simplifying the concept of bullwhip with this simple video.
Best video explaining this concept on UA-cam! Thank you for the detailed explanation & visualization.
Emily Klott - Thank you very much for your appreciation.
Thank you Emily. Your appreciation is deeply valued. :)
Thanks a lot Emily, your comment gives us more motivation
Thankyou so much Emily! We are glad you liked it. This motivates us!
Just Simply awesome Explanation, I had gone through many online pieces of training but it is so simple and clear. I think i will never forget it in a lifetime.
Bullwhip effect is often found in the Clothing industry and Electronic industry. This is the major reason why the supplychain players occurs loss as further the fashion and technology keeps changing. Withdrawal kaban can be used by supplychain players and Production Kanban can be used by the manufacturer.
Thank you Sir & Team.

The professor and his students have done an interesting role play and brought good clarity on the topic. Great Job !
Not only the concept of bullwhip effect is explained with clarity but the ways in which it can be mitigated is suggested. Great video.Kudos to the team!!!
Thank you Archana
Such a complex theory explained so easily and its quite surprising to see you change of demand at start impacts the requirements at other levels of supply chain..

Thanks for powerful explanation regarding Lean Supply Chain...
After viewing this video it's understood what the wholesaler, retailer and manufacturer experience when there is a variation in order units from a particular customer. 'Kanban' a true killer for The Bullwhip Effect. Thank you sir.
Good. Thank you.
With the technology available today, the bullwhip effect can be minimized for optimum production with minimum redundancy. Thank you for the interesting video.

Great way to reduce lead time
Thank you sir for simplifying it
Sir, even being new to operations as area of knowledge, the concept was so well demonstrated. Thank you for making these videos. Ritu Sharma - BD
Thank you all the team. For such wonderful video.
Key learning’s for me
1)Bullwhip Effect.
2)Kanban’s importance.
3) Reduce Nodes as much as possible.
Apart from this data presentation on graphs and role play I could find it more easily.
I think “Technology with proper technique gives you lot of benefits”.
Thank you Pratik
Indeed a fantastic video on the Bullwhip effect. Communication of customer and manufacturer directly through technology in supply chain can truly be beneficial. Thank you Sir and team for such a great video.

Understood how reducing the nodes (a way to do KANBAN) helped to reduce the lead time drastically and overcome/ reduce the BullWhip effect. Psychology plays a major role for this effect to occur.
Thank you sir.

It was little funny but i understood bullwhip effect completely.....better than other bullwhip videos on youtube
Thank you so much Sir and Team!
As I understand, the bullwhip effect can prove deadly in industries where trends change rapidly (eg. last season’s garments are likely to never be sold and can pile up as losses) . It may become imperative to minimize the effect and/or go directly to the consumer.
Hatsoff to you and your student for such videos
