Having you as a sister might be a dream, imagine having no money to spend on a keyboard and your sister just hooks you up with a custom keyboard no payment required
Before: I built a keyboard for my sister. Now: I built a keyboard for my brother. 42 years later: I built a keyboard for my great-second-aunts-cousins-nephew's-crush-childhood friends half-sisters stepbrother.
i love how in keyboards everybodys like "NO USE GMK KEYCAPS THEY LOOK SO GOOD AND THEY SOUND GOOD" and "NO BRASS>ALIMUNIUM" or some shit but then when it comes to mods its just "put tape on the back of ur PCB" "put foam in your case" like shit went from 100 dollars to 1 dollar real quick
yeah, it is kinda stupid sometimes. I would never buy foam from a vendor, experiment with your own stuff, I simply used kitchen paper to dampen my sound and it worked. then again... if you have shitty keycaps, you have shitty keycaps. like the 30 euro/$ china stuff. Did that once, never again. breaks, sounds terrible, feels... cheap. not saying you need GMK, some nice Tai-Haos or other may do the trick for you, but better have one premium keycap set that lasts you a long time than a dozen cheap ones you switch every other week because you are not satisfied. I made that mistake. same with stabilizers or switches. if they suck or do not work for you for whatever reason you can not mod as much as you want, it will not drastically improve. they hobby do be weird like that sometimes.
I really love the fact that her brother doesn't really care about mods and stuff, he just wants a nice kb that works and she is trying her best to make it feel very high quality
i recently got into custom keyboards and i’m happy to watch your vids and learn more about possible mods and builds i could do, thank you for this! what a good keeb 😍
You're such a great sister! In this video and the one to your sister from earlier, I love that you make them very solid keyboards that are perfect for a beginner even if, like you said, some keyboard nuts will find it underwhelming, that can still be overwhelming when you're new to the keyboard world!!
Recently got back into your content and I've got to say, you've come such a long way in what feels like so little time and really have come into your own as a presenter and video host. Your cadence especially feels so much more natural than in your older videos, as well as being much livelier and more energetic. Can't wait to see where you go from here, great work so far
When you get ahold of your first mechanical keyboard it will take a bit of time to get use to it. But once you do that you will never want to own and use a membrane keyboard ever again.
Lol your brother blinked. So yeah, the force break mod just isolates the vibrations from the top and bottom from travels back and forth and resonating, creating that pinging sound. With good foam and sound deadening material, and the forcebreak, will remove that metallic ringing sound from the Q1.
I watched this at 850 this morning before starting my workday. It's now 1:20 pm and I can't focus because every time I look at my keyboard I imagine you cutting into the bare metal just to trim some tape.
This is so cool, i nvr rlly had any experienced on mechanical keyboards since those stuff isnt rlly known and cared for in my country so watching these videos rlly make me want to build one, even if its from a premade keyboard. So im planning on buying red dragon kumara k552 rgb(the tkl one i dont remember the exact name) and change the switches and put foam under it. Thank you for inspiring me :D
@@sawgiie i checked it, its just a bit expensive than reddragon k552 for me but it seems to get better review so i might actual get that one since its more worth it
I absolutely don’t get the obsession (maybe the wrong word) these people have with keyboards and how they sound.. but its really enjoyable to watch how much passion you have!
It’s one of those things you don’t really understand until you use one and know what you’re missing. Kind of like 60hz vs. High Refresh rate monitors or OLED vs. TN panels. The keyboard is also like, THE interface device for computers. A sick keyboard just makes it all more enjoyable. My QoL increased like, tenfold when I brought my own keyboard to the Pharmacy.
One thing I noticed this video Don’t do is to go back to the original sound And compare it long enough to the new keyboard sound I mean that’s super important let’s hear that stuff
The force break is actually to reduce the pingy sound between the aluminium plate. I had my keychorn q1 as well. When the first time have the keyboard without having the masking type put there, the sound is a bit "errr..." i don't know how to describe it.. just hard to accept XD. anyway.. you give me new idea to mod my Q1 again (jeez.. i'm going to be broke soon) lol thanks :)
I just customized a keeb for my mom and I was very very tempted to keep it. It was a Glorious GMMK full size in Artic White with Kailh box blacks and some PBT HKGaming keycaps (knock offs of I believe the Astrolokeys from Drop). It was so good sounding. I might have to get myself some box black switches as I really loved the sound.
Looking at that keyboard, I feel like your brother now needs an update on his computer, or at least a case change... It just seems wrong, having an mATX inside a Full ATX case. And since my sister won't build me a keyboard, I hope to one day build one for her xD
This is the video that got me into mechanical keyboards. Just got a q1 with ktt strawberries and whale pbt keycaps. It sounds quite nice with the tape and force break mods.
I used a Razer Black Widow for about 8 years before finally building my first custom keyboard. I went from a really standard gamer keyboard, to a custom dactyl manuform board with Gateron Browns. It was quite the learning experience as I built and wired it all myself, but was worth the effort in the end.
for a budget keyboard i reccomend thor 150/210 rgb its mechanical and it has very cool lights and its (for me 119 pln) wich is for you 26 dollars or some
