Lessons Learned: Cut Prospective Horses Some Slack If They Haven't Been Roundpenned Before

When looking at a potential yearling to bring into a western performance program, the horse is most often worked in a roundpen. While there are specific things you're looking for as the horse moves around the pen, my mentor Doug Carpenter taught me that if the yearling has never been roundpenned before, it isn't fair to judge him based solely off his work in it.
