EXPLORING SINGAPORE’S ICONIC HAJI LANE // WHAT IS BEHIND THE COLOURFUL FACADE?

Our family took a trip around Kampong Glam and were surprised at how much we discovered hidden away up and down the lanes.
It's a busy time of yeah for us what with coming up to the end of the school year before the holiday's so I took my friend Winel to hang out along Haji Lane and see what it was dubbed one of the top 10 coolest roads in the world a few years back.
The lane was once a place of rest for those making the pilgrimage to Mecca and now its full of beautiful street art, colourful shophouses, jewellery stores, second hand and vintage shops, cafes and a lot of Korean style photo booths!
Come and explore with us as we wander down this lane and discover what's inside those shophouses and why it's become such a popular place over the years. Whilst we were there coach loads of tourists were being dropped off. But is it all just hype?

Just for you information that Ultraman mural painting you have seen is actually a commemorative painting done in 2021 to celebrate the 55 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan. Ultraman was chosen as the ambassador because at the time it was also the 55 anniversary since Ultraman debut on TV in Japan in 1966.

There are many nice vintage stores at Haji Lane which I enjoy checking out. 😊

I found there were less vintage items in terms of what I'm used to in the UK. I'd actually describe these one as up-cycled items. I do miss vintage and charity shops from the UK. It doesn't seem to be a thing here in Singapore.

Yeah I’m not sure, maybe some of the clothing shops. I did notice a lot more groups of girls going down there actually.
