    Thank you for explaining this! I've been in the states for 40 years. Left Palestine (Ramallah) when I was 15 years old and no idea how acronym works in Arabic. I thought Hamas and Fateh are random names! Love your videos!

    Interesting, Hebrew works the same way, except usually in the acronym, you add a quotation mark before the last letter, as for example in the Hebrew word ISIS, which fun fact: in Hebrew it is pronounced the same as in Arabic: da’aesh, and will be written like: דאע״ש, those letters are equivalent to the ones in Arabic.

      interesting !! yeah i've seen single & double quotation marks in Hebrew & my understanding was that sometimes it has to do with how the letter is pronounced (like for foreign sounds) ? i'd certainly like to learn the language one day.

    Acronyms are more commonly found in Hebrew than in Arabic since it's the language of acronyms.
