Revitalising & repairing that gorgeous and no-doubt well made original wool & cashmere M&S scarf would be beyond worth it! I have visble cord elbow patches my nanny taught me to do on an old M&S shirt & mismatched replaced buttons that i love as it adds character! i actually chose this dark green, checked flannel shirt as my dad's xmas gift when i was 6/7 as i remember choosing with my ma, 30s later & i still get complimented on it, asked where i bought it & it's a treasured memory for my dad & I to share too (it's also a level of softness that can't be achieved newly bought either)! 💚😊

What do you put inside your clothing to darn them...is it a tennis ball?

Looks like tennis ball to me too. They do make wooden shapes you can buy to use for darning.

Traditionally a person would use a darning mushroom or egg when darning. Many people advocate light bulbs. A tennis ball would not really work as you would probably sew the mended item to the felt on the ball.... A smooth ball might work.
