-- Original Description --
Originally broadcast on BBC2, on New Year’s Eve 1998 and introduced by Mark Lamarr, this is an exclusive behind the scenes documentary about the making of the inaugural series of the British television programme Robot Wars.
You'll get to meet the original roboteers and see their video diaries - trivia buffs will note that in the home video of series champion Roadblock, the robot is adorned with its original name of Road Rage. There's also a look at how to build a robot set on a tight budget with bits and bobs from the local scrapyard, and of course you'll find out how Chris Reynolds and the rest of the (now defunct?) BBC Visual Effects workshop built the original four house robots in just six weeks.
Top 1 Underrated Episodes of Robot Wars
It's always so cool to see behind the scenes and especially of Robot Wars! Seeing all the old robots, how the show was designed, built and filmed is just super cool!
2:23 CLARKSOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!
This confirms that the snow plough is the front of Shunt and not the back.
Makes sense considering the direction of the exhaustpipe
I find it amazing that they only had 6 weeks to build 4 house robots!
Then again its always like that in film and tv productions. You get bugger all time to build often very complex things.
It took ten days to build sir killalot
15:50-16:45 It was like a scene from Chucklevision! LOL
16:23 Like trying to start a lawnmower.
Recorded on BBC Television 1998.
Amazing the yanks beating the brits here .in later times the british absolutely thrashed the yanks
The OG house robots looked so crude
I had this on video but all Jeremy Clarkson Clips were replaced with Craig Charles
It must kill the people who designed the set that this was scrapped for 250 quid!!!
Not this set, but the one from series 5/6/7. That must've been even worse though because it cost over £10,000 to build!
Dreadnaut always reminded me of a bobsled. No idea why.
Johnathan: Suuuuuumooooooo!
