Hello! My name is Evan and this was the meetup that happened on September 16th, 2021. It was a joint event with Levity Vans Open Garage that happens every 3rd Thursday of the month.
I live in a stealth camper that I converted with the help of my dad. I lived out of this van in San Francisco and Santa Cruz. My dad is a carpenter and with his help, I was able to create the cabinets which is the foundation of the conversion. I designed and built the entire plumbing and electrical system. This van is completely off-grid with a fully self-sustaining electrical system and a complete plumbing system. Despite how small the Nissan NV200 is, I was able to have a decent amount of storage, due to the fact that I made the entire base storage space.

Based on what I've seen, you'll find your community anywhere you go. They're NOMADS - they'll find YOU!
You are an evolved soul. One that seeks freedom yet never abandons the family and the obligations that come with being a part of it. May you succeed at everything you do. Peace 🙏
Evan! Holy cow man thank you so much for the kind words! It was such a blast having you at the garage and seeing you get to show off your stuff, I think all of us at Levity learned a few things from your build🤪 you’re such a wonderful person to be around and it’s been a pleasure getting to befriend you. Let’s go surfing before you leave, and then I’ll definitely hit you up when I’m Southern California in the future. Much love and many blessings Evan!✌🏼🤙🏼😁
🏄♂️ It’s happening! See you at the next wave! 🌊😝🤙
No thank you
No
Family first. You can continue to grow the community from wherever you are.
Thanks. I agree
It’s fun watching people react to seeing your van for the first time.
It's bitter sweet that you have to go back to help the family. I'm sure you will feel better once your there. I could feel the love, great community of people. 💖💫✌
Whatever it is - whatever has happened - I wish you all the love in the world. I hope everyone is well and everything turns out wonderful. You are a wonderful son and family member for going back to help whatever the reason. Love you dude. You have inspired me not just to build a van for travel, but actually open myself up to places and people - to go out and not just see things but to grow as a person.
Thank you for the comment. My family is ok. I will explain everything in my next video. Im glad my videos have impacted you in some way. Good luck with your travels and personal growth 😊
Awesome music with the steel drums, love it. Looks like you all had a really good time, glad your first event went well. Hope your family will be okay and when it comes to family you will make sacrifices for them when need be. Family/blood comes first. I've had to put my personal life on hold to take care of my mother and eventually I can do what I want in life but just not now. Bob Wells from CheapRVliving recently had to put his life on hold over the Summer to care for his mom who passed away this year. So, take care Evan and I'm just hoping everything goes well for you and your's.
Thanks Adele. My family is ok. I’ll explain what’s going on in an update video. Thanks for your comment 😊
It was such BLAST Brotha'! Thank you so much for organizing the meetup! I cant wait for the next one, wherever it may be! Best of luck and blessings on helping out your family! Peace, Love, & Vanlife!
Thanks for coming Erik! I’m looking forward to seeing you again!
I like how there's a community where people take genuine interest in each other toilets
Watching you play the tongue drum at the end brought a tear to my eye. It was a beautiful moment.
Wow it’s sad you have to leave Santa Cruz as it clearly calls to your soul. I hope helping your family goes well and you find peace in your heart with the change. Someday you’ll be back in Santa Cruz for sure! 💜
This is so awesome! I like what you've done! For me, the time when I lived in San Diego, in a SUV, was one of the most freeing times of my life. I met some amazing people and still keep in touch with a few of them. It's weird how having a home can be more like a prison. It can keep us isolated from people. I'm an introvert so being around too many people for too long can be really draining for me. At the same time, I still need human connection. I applaud you for creating, finding and sharing joy! For embracing everyone as your family and friends. ☺️
That's awesome! Glad to see people having fun and enjoying life. Thank you for the video.
It is all good man ! Life is a journey.
I hope everything works out for you and your family.
I wish you all the best and thanks for this video. Enjoyable as always 🙌
You’re doing it right. Family first. Meet ups will come.
Chin up dude 💪 Have faith that things happen for a reason, which always end up as a good one 👍👍
You're absolutely right Evan - Family comes first and parents comes foremost.
When we're all grown up and able of body and mind, its your responsibility to serve parents every day till they leave this life. When that time comes, we won't get another chance for the rest of our lives to make them breakfast every day, go shopping for them every week, etc... they are the easiest doors to heaven for us, and also our biggest test. And that day when these 2 doors closes, then some realise, when its too late.
This was great. Love the jam session. 💖💫✌
So nice of you to help your family 👍
Aww man! Now I’m really sorry I missed the meetup. Hopefully I can catch you out in IE sometime. I hope everything works out for you and your family. Take care!
Thanks MJ. I’m absolutely going to do more meetups wherever I go so hopefully I can see you at one of those in the future!
What an excellent ending to a new beginning
Seeing people sit in your van and interact with you has been a joy. Thank you for sharing.
Something about it…I love it!! Thanks for sharing
Hey brother, great video! Happy for you that the meet up was a success. Most plans rarely stay the same once life happens, we just gotta enjoy the ride. Keep sharing those videos regardless of where you are please!
I could hear the sadness in your voice about having to move back, but as others have said, it’s all for a reason and I’m sure things will turn out just right for you! Enjoying the channel very much so keep up the good work. By the way, could I get a link to your beautiful tongue drum please… My brother in law is a drummer and I’d love to buy him one.
Here's a link to their website! ravvast.com/
1:48 LLOOOOLL its like showing your little chihuahua to large breed owners
What a cool idea. Glad it worked out. Great video!
I love your van. So clean and compact. Your genius.
Beautiful drum playing.
Love what you do. I’m trying to figure out how to get a van and do a conversion on a very low budget. As a disabled vet it is difficult.
Blessings to you!!
you are making it all come true, well done
I am from Bern, where the Insturment Hang is coming from.. ✌️😉 It's Slang for 'hand' and I love how you play it! 😍
I hope everything works out with your family ❤️🌟
Thank you! 😃
The music is soooo wonderful!! 🎶 🎼 🎵.
I would of liked to come out. But I didn't seen your page the day after. I have a NV200 and liked your videos. I hope to learn more and convert my van one day.
That’s life, good luck!
Yo bro, I was so impressed with everything in your vid. Nice job putting it together. Hope you can get back to the Santa Cruz soon...

Stay safe stay happy.
Come surf my driveway here in the Monterey Bay area, I wanted to attend the Meetup, but I was working on my van (California One). You can also use my guest pass to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
You're such a strange fellow but I love your van and enjoy your videos. Keep them coming man!
Beautiful music young man.
May God make you find grace to the eyes of every single person you meet and strengthen your heart. May He give you success in your beautiful quest of assembling people for peace and joy
Hey man great video. Looks like a cool group of people. Was wondering if you ever wanted to do something like this out in Riverside ?
I like it. Greetings from Austria
Been watching your vids from time to time just subscribe to your channel great videos
Who would have thought that the unhippy guy would pull out the hippy instrument loljk Love this video!!
Great advert for Lecity Van and for you! Shame you had to leave; hope all is okay with your family--loving family should come first. Stay well, if you need our mental support, we are here. Does it mean less vd of you? I hope not.
My plan for this channel is not going to be purely vanlife so this transition doesn’t necessarily mean I can’t make anymore videos. I view this channel as more of a public video diary for my thoughts and lifestyle
Nice
Wow what a cool event! Levity should hire you to build vans
Hello Evan, today, Thurs (4-28-22), I found your channel in the recommended videos. You are AMAZING!!!!! Did you major in engineering at UC Santa Cruz? How did you figure out how to wire your van for electricity and plumbing? So courageous, brilliant, and you are living the life we dream about and wish we had the courage and strong determination to succeed. I am a new subscriber. God bless you for sharing your knowledge. Take care Evan, stay healthy and safe.
great
Santa Cruz culture at it’s finest. Not sure if any of those people are locals, but they would sure fit right in
You are HANDSOME!!!!
Like 👍 897. Great meetup with other van life nomads. Good decision to move and be close 👌 to family 👪 in a time ⏲️ of need.
epic
The chant: “Take the poop!” was really funny!
😂
I think that was an Epic moment.haha..
Sudden, uncertain changes are never fun but things tend to work out.
Also the moment you mentioned RAV Vast my brain went "the... NAH! Oh.... oh ok yep, there it is." I have long pondered getting one, the whole sense and vibe of them is awesome, but what hangs me up is "...but will I keep using it or will it just have it's 'moment'?"
I was thinking the same thing too. Will I just get bored of it and not play it anymore? For me, what motivates me is two things. I just have some much fun playing it after not touching it for a while and sharing the instrument with folks who haven't seen it before!
There is no illuminating advise I can share with you, but I feel your journey, however brief as you may think, will bring levity when you reunite with your family. In your “search” for some kind of meaning, I often think about the words my wife shared with me when I did not relish the thought of staying in one place. Her words, “if you don’t plant roots, you can’t grow.” I replied that getting a house would be like an anchor around my neck to which she said, “I see it as a sail, it will take us wherever we want to go.” Fifty years later, she is still right.
This is crazy. I feel bad that you live in a van. HOLY SHIT 😳
🌴Stephanie 👣 Rose 🌹 here, from Florida 🦈 first time viewer and subscriber!
U have a beautiful soul
You are a nice guy..I can just tell hard to find nowadays.
Evan our representative🤣
how did I miss this?
Id watch a full vid of you playing the drum
I could listen to more of that drum. Make video of that
Wow that was the best one I've seen I would like want one how do u get one 😍
"Take a poop! Take a poop!"
OMG that was HILARIOUS!!!!
Nice drums! Where did you buy it? I have never seen one before.
Van life appears to be an interesting life, at my age I remember back in the seventies when the Chevy van was a big thing. The lifestyle isn't new there's always been migrant communities. I remember when I was a kid I saw a what was referred to me at the time a gypsy community and they lived out of large 1940s 50s era cars.
Evan, were you working for the Santa Cruz company? I noticed that you sport clothes with their brand name on them. Love that company.
umm ur a genius.
Santa Cruz is not safe for camper, taking care my friend.
I can see why you were conflicted to leave Sta Cruz
Take a poop, take a poop 🤣🤣
By the way...who is the little kid besides you bro?when you inside your van..is it your brother?
Great sponsorship partnership. I bought a drum like that but the vendor was fake and ripped me off. 🤬
Chad
Nick from Idea Fab Labs! Get a hold of me Man! I thought we all were going to see you on Friday. Message me or sumthin ✌️😎
What is that drum called
What is that instrument bro??
I’ll use large diaper with diaper wipes
Do what you need to do, BUT come back to your life after you're finished. 6 months?
I don’t know how long this new stage of my life will be. I’ll just have to see as it pans out
How have you not pooped in there yet? I poop like 5 times a day I'd take advantage of that
I miss Santa Cruz, not the bum who broke my window.
Drop these van meet up hostings. They are not treating you well enough for you to host this thing. It's not because your energy does not match theirs. It's systemic, it's snooping, it's idk. I
Create a business making these you’ll be successful
Are you ending the channel for the time being?
No, that’s not the plan. I want to maintain the channel even after I transition down in SoCal.
@@StoriesFromaVan Good to hear! Good luck.
Glad to see humans being humans and not encumbered with insane covid rules.
I agree
ok. tis is impressive.. but one asian to another... how ur mom feel abt u living in van?
almost everyone looks like a pot smoker...
except Evan of course
Where are the masks, folks?
