    Such a fun haul, thank you for sharing! That Flashe set costs under 19 euros in Germany 😅 I love my Flashe paints and have way too many colors, but they are quite inexpensive here and the glass jars last a long time. Love the owl 😍

      I am jealous, flashe is sooo expensive here :(

      I might have to look into somewhere that sells them cheaper if I really like them I the future!

    Hi April. If (&when) your bleed proof white dries up, you can reactivate with distilled water. Enjoying your videos!

      Thanks :) I have done that a few times with my other white ink but it never last long and is always a bit lumpy 🙈

    Oooooh fun! The flashe look great but so little paint per tube, looks like! 😮

      I know! I thought they would be the same size as the golden paints. I need to play with them more to get a proper opinion.

    Nice haul !! The Flashe Paint price is crazy there !! In France we got them for around 5,75£ the big 80mL tube ! And they're often on sale for -25% or stuff like that !

      That is what a lot of people are saying! Must be the import fees 🤔

    I saw someone recommend a derwent pencil extender and I think that is a genius tool for pencils when they tend to get too small to hold.

      I have a few pencil extenders but I don’t like using them. I prefer to suffer an complain 😂

    The Flashe paints seems to be a better value than a Schminke set. #3 5ml tubes are 40€ Not familiar with Flashe paints. Ive heard of them but don't recall much about them. Love the vlogs! 🎨 🔥

      I think all Schminke stuff is expensive! I don't think I've ever actually tried the brand, but I've hard good things :)

    You *can* refill the Liquitex markers!
    And I totally get having doubles for different purposes. I have at least two sets of pencils just to keep different points. 😂 That's part of being an adult, you can do stupid stuff like that to make your life better.
    Flashe paints are surprisingly nice. I bought a couple to test & use for base layers and I liked the way pencils (esp) layer over it. Those small tubes sounded way overpriced though. 😳 Mine (small jars, 125 ml?) were 10€ a piece, so £8-9-ish?

    • @monkeymintaka
      @monkeymintaka  7 місяців тому

      I’ll look into refilling the liquitex paints! I know that liquitex don’t sell the same colours but maybe I can make my own colours up.

      @@monkeymintaka some of the things Liquitex does are really strange. 😅 Parchment is hard to match, and of course it's not available in inks. I've been DIYing it, from inks and their acrylic ranges (basic/soft body Parchment + mediums), but don't have the perfect solution right now. I'll get there!

    Did you fall in love with the Flashe? They have such a velvety texture, perfect match for pencils. They are sure pricey there! I think I got a good sale price from Jackson's around a year or so ago, keep your eyes peeled in case they do it again. It might have been during a big acrylics sale.
    Lindsay the frugal crafter has a palette specially for her neocolor2 shavings mixed with a bit of water. They rewet like gouache. I especially like that idea for skies and big chunks of color, and will be making some custom colors too. I'm eager to see what kind of muted colors I can mix up. Happy birbfest, April!

      I haven’t used them since so I’ll need to sit down and have a good play! I think Arty sent me a video about turning the neocolors into paint so I will look into it 👀

    Something that’s great about flashe is your sketchbook pages won’t stick together which happens to me a lot with acrylic paint. You can mix in acrylic or goache or watercolour to alter the colour of flashe too. As long as you don’t put too much the flashe stays matte.

      Good tip! I will try that when I use them next :)

    So, I'm a budget minded artist, if it's too expensive I'll feel too precious about using them. However, that being said it all looks lovely to work with. And yes, it's a bummer that the Flashe paints are so small. That owl really looks great btw.

    • @monkeymintaka
      @monkeymintaka  7 місяців тому +1

      Thankyou :) I use my business money to buy supplies so it’s okay to treat myself every now and then. But if I just had my day job I would definitely buy less!

    • @Chickenfoothomestead

      See, that's the way to do it. Let me ask you, in your opinion, is there a huge difference between "store brand" colored pencils and like a brand that is considered professional? I would like to try buying a color or two to try out but wondered if they really are worth it.@@monkeymintaka
