Alex Kidd may have never been an "official" mascot, but he was indeed a mascot. Alex Kidd was one of the reasons to own a Master System. It was a solid platformer in its day.

I love the banter in this one. I can just see them. Ryan says something dumb, like is "Alex Kidd any relationship to Jason Kidd" and then Jeff just makes that fucking face, and just nods and says "Yeah." Like, of fucking course.

I started sobbing loudly during this. I remember almost nothing of my very young childhood, but for some reason I remember everything about Alexx Kidd and Wonderboy. I was 3 years old when I played them!

the Wonder Boy games were great. I had a few of them. If wonder boy came out for the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS, i would snatch it up in a heartbeat. The gameplay is still solid after all these years.. Speaking of platformers, if you have a 3DS, be sure to download Mutant Mudds. It's a new platformer with a classic Mega Man feel.
I agree but one can also say the same about Wonder Boy on the SMS as well.

Actually Alex Kidd was never Sega's mascot, Opa-Opa(the ship) from Fantasy Zone was Sega's original mascot then he was replaced by Sonic.

Agreed. Well, maybe not Monster Land, it's pretty bad IMO. Wonder Boy 3 and 4 though are more than worth it.

My Master System came with HangOn/Safari Hunt. Sure, NES had more games, but most of them were crap. Quality over quantity.
Three lazy ports slapped onto a disk. Considering how pathetically little memory genesis and master system titles take, they should have jammed at least ten, if not twenty titles in. I'll go boot my emulator instead, have a great day.

That Wonderboy portion of the QL was brutal. What a pile of shit those games were. I don't care what nostaligia anyone has for them, they are objectively brain damaging. Wonder Boy 1/Adventure Island is a good game though, the Wonder Boy variant being superior, in my opinion if only because the WB sprite is better.
Monster World looks sooooo boring. It's one of those games that lets you walk around for an hour in a more or less self-contained area, collecting gold and then gives you something to buy inbetween those areas. The original Wonder Boy looks way more interesting, because it does the opposite and it's a whole lot more challenging from the outset.
