Awesome Video Geo keep it up. Can't wait for the continuation video of preparing to stone sharpen your straight razor.
Thanks for the shaving tip,Geo. I always find it informative, and even if the chin-strap beard does not apply to me, I still learn a technique or two to improve my shaving technique- such as going right alongside the nose area. I do enjoy watching your videos!
Geo, Another great video! I have really learned a lot about shaving from your series, Thanks! I always struggled trying to get straight lines using a multi blade cartridge razor in the past so I will try using a DE and see if I can a decent looking beard this time! I am even thinking of trying a straight because it looks like it gives you the best overall control.
My 64 year old father just gave me (27) the razor his father gave him when he was 20: A little 3 inch golden Apollo safety razor.
I keep a square beard all the time. Thanks to you I can maintain that beard while still being able to use the safety razor. You do good work man.
Great video Geo, always a big help.
Great video as always, I've done it with an electric once or twice and it was not an easy task. I think I'll try this with my safety razor.
great vid again Geo..... I like these video's where you explain the type of shave you are trying to achieve. You should do more of these and show us the right shaving tools to use :)
im 16 and its the first time I shape up my beard. thanks for the help lol
Nice!
hey geo! big fan i love your videos, you have inspired me to change the way i shave from can foam so quality soaps and purchasing a brush. i would really appreciate if you made a dedicated video to using the dovo shavette as i have purchased one and would love to see your insights and techniques. thanks!
Nice videos man
nice tutorial, I also tried this!
Very informative! Thank You!
I've had a chinstrap for 15 yrs. when I started w/ a safety razor last month, I thought I may have some problem but what I've learned is that it's totally ok to brush on some soap. I then take my pinky and follow the strap rubbing the line of cream off. Then just a safe clean shave with my Merkur 20c. When I'm done I tighten up w/ an electric trimmer or even the detail blade on the back of my 1 fusion cartridge.
Love your videos - excellent information. Found my grandfather's Gillette safety razor (40+ years old) and have been using it for a year now. Works better than I imagined - I will NEVER go back to expensive disposables again. Question: Sometimes the knob to open the razor "binds up" a little - is there a way to lubricate the inner parts? What do you use? What do you recommend for regular maintenance? Thanks in advance.
Badass working razor
Really helpful, thanks!!!
thanks man, i will try it
hey geo man love the chin beard on you looks good
Thanks Mike!
Thanks for the tut. I always follow my sideburn line straight down to get a squared off look. Yours seems to come together perfectly. I just gotta keep in mind my sideburns are unfortunately an inch wide. Slow and steady, I guess.
Nice work. I'd love to see you do a series of these type of clips.
Starting at a relatively straight forward style like The Chinstrap,
up to something more complex like The Tony Stark.
Very interesting.
I tried to do that a few times and it just doesn't suit me unfortunately. I did follow this video last night for a second time and mine came out pretty decent. It flowed a lot better than it usually does. Thanks again, Geo.
I have something thicker than a chin strap but is very trimmed, like this, and I love to use my Parker travel straight razor!
Me too, thanks. Before it was either a beard trimmed with clippers or a smooth face with bad razor burn from the 5 blade system that cost me about $40 a month. Found your site a year ago and haven't had razor burn issues since. I just now should be thinking about what blade pack I want to buy next. I also get to act like a bad ass elitist when it comes to shaving in conversation with friends.
nice i just recently started growing mine
always learn something new from your channel, this time it was alum block
Would you be able to do a review on the feather nape razor? I need some questions to be answered
Geo - you losin' weight? Also, I bought an alum block and like it, but MAN I was totally unprepared for the sting. It works great, I just didn't realize it burns a little. You handle it like a pro.
Great video, Geo. I was wondering, do you know of any straight razors that just use a full DE razor blade? Is there such a thing? I know there are some where you can break the blade in half and use half (btw can you name these ones too?), but I was wondering if there's one that uses the whole blade and you can switch sides after. Thanks.
Thats pritty cool. Now how do u dye it withowt staining ur skin?
Geo could you do a review on a product called proshave brushless shave cream its a excelent product
I invested in a straight razor to cut down on barber cost and and in part to become a better man (23 year old trying to get a head start) I'm finding that getting the lower chinstrap to line up right and symmetrically on both side is really difficult. Especially on the under side. I'm aiming to try and make my strap about 1cm around. Do you have any tips as to how to make it neater? Should I pull up the skin and cut or do you think it would stretch my jawline wrong?
Finally bro!
please post more kinds of beards, its hard to find tutorials how to shave different beards. I hope you will do.
Oh man, the Tony Stark is awesome. That'd be a good one.
Don't have a straight razor, however I do have the ProGlide with the single razor on the backside. Will that suffice in place of the straight razor?
mmmmm nice idea, i like it so much
Love the little joke at the end lol
Turn off the water while shaving. Fill the bottom of the sink with a few inches of water to rinse your razor. Saves three gallons each day.
+geofatboy wonderfull! I will try that as well!.
Hi Geo,i shave with a dovo straight, but i have trouble with shaving my chin, any tips,Thanks,Michael
As soon as you shaved the mustache you looked 10years younger haha. Its crazy what facial hair can do for us
geo youd look like a boss if you kept the mustache connected to the chin strap
I've been shaving with DE razor for almost 1 year now and every time I shave I get a razor cuts on my neck. I go WTG then ATG and then ATG. I get all the cuts from ATG and only on my neck. Do you have an advice for me to prevent this?
is there anyway to remove green on your face? after shaving
his beard is almost the same color as his skin I can barely see it
Is it difficult to shave with a straight razor? I have never used one before.
What´s your prefrerance´s in aftershave balm(s) ??
So, something I've been wondering and can't find anything about. To grow a chinstrap/jawline beard, do you have to let your head hair grow out? Most of the people I've seen, even my buddies that have 'em have long curly hair.
yup
Vote for geo!
P.S. How would you make a beard like Brian Wilson of the San Fransisco Giants?
GEO!!!! YEAH!!!! HAHAH I never clear my runways! lol. Excellent video. Thanks. Im gonna use my EJDE89-Octogonal
Oh it did but i got rid of that thing. I spend more time with electric then with a safety razor hands down and way smoother.
would a styptic pencil also work?
itll work. but i find it doesnt work as well. just go buy those disposable single blade or double blade razors from walmart or something. like the ones people used to use before all these like 4 and 5 blade razors use to come out, might not be as good as a straight razor but itll work
You should grow a 'stache Geo.
What is that song in the intro?
yo man,thanks
Thanks!
you would be pimpin with a pencil line stash!
Yo when G grabs a straight razor... sh*t gets real.
Could you do a full shave with the Feather Nape Razor...?
+Michael Petersen
I would prefer an actual straight razor for full face shaving...
yes but just to show if and how it can be done...???
I have a chin patch
Just use a shave oil!
Looks like I am growing a chinstrap for summer.
Will this make ur beard grow uneven once the shaved parts start to grow back
Well you could just shave unshaved parts again when they grow and trim the chinstrap.
i like the chin strap. i think my wife wouldn't complain too much, cause i think she could still kiss me without getting poked by my beard. (ok, she'll still probably hate it) but i may have to try this anyway.
Where can you get the chrome single blade safe razor?
Here you go:

you look like 50 cent the rapper with chin beard man
I'll trade wallets with him any day
WHAT A COINCIDENCE !!! HHAHAHA Man i just did my chinstrap this morning !! LOL
🕶
I tried it, she hated it lol.. oh well.
i can never shave the beard straight :L
Just asking not being rude. Are you a Barber?
Well you do an awesome job man seriously! :)
Haha bro I think he'd like that comment not find it rude
Abraham Lincoln 7 letters each, both ways... Could there be a Masonic connection?... Nuff said (Yawn). Anyway another brilliant video Sir Geo! Unfortunately the only chin strap I have is from, a motorcycle helmet. As thy facial hair never fully grow in the jaw line region and barely on the cheeks. Hey how about a Tom Selleck look next vid... Lol. Be well mate.
So are you planning on running for President?
Whats the razor at 4:17

EVERYONE HERE AS A BEARD!
Naah, I stick with my goatee !!
Full beard>Chin Strap
he does it wrong... it looks way better when its pencil sized
Just FYI, a majority of those ironic coincidences have actually been disproven. ;) The list was a gimmick by some clever prankster. :)
A get all the cuts against the grain =D
You know, if you were to dye your beard/hair you would look really young. You have a young face.
Thanks Franco!
Good genes inherited from my Moms!
Ago maybe you shouldn't shave ATG
Dude WTF that's not how you do a chinstrap lol
I like scruffs
Why....... Just. Why??
Bullshit. i think it suits you just fine.
