My grand aunt gave me a little "statue" of this little guy. He is sitting in a tiny teacup. I forgot his name after 5 years. This showed up in my recommendations and I clicked it. I'm keeping this in one of my playlists for all time.
Wow, this sounds extremely like Thumbalina and Tom Thumb. There is even another western story (which I believe is a variety of the Tom Thumb story) were he too faces a monster, but is actually killed.

I used to have a book with this story. It didn't survive the humidity of Hawaii. I did manage to save some of the books.
So this is what inspired the little bug dude and part of the story from okami. I think the moon princess was a different one but it even has the mallet lol
Yeah, it problably did. The tiny samurai story called "Issun-bōshi" in japanese wich means "one sun man" was quite popular back then during the old japan. (sun was the measurment system the japanese had back then in these days one sun would be around 3 cm or 1.3 inches).
the old folklore tale became so popular back then that the japanese people who made a library of all the different types of yokais registrered "Issun-bōshi" as their own type of yokais. Wich inspired many other japanese writers to make their own stories with other tiny people. That´s why if you read some japanese folklore stories you will find relates about very tiny people, however, this story of this video about the one inch samurai always stood as the most popular story of these tiny people.

Why don’t you credit the show that you take these from? This is from the “Folktales from Japan” show. You should give them credit, since you’re using their artwork and basic story structure. To do otherwise is dishonest!
