Hey guys, I’m Rabea. I'm the lead guitarist in Toska, Frog Leap & Dorje where I write music, make songs and have a great time with my mates. ive never been into this sort of music ever. never been exposed to it. wasnt really even aware of it. i found Rabea through pedal and gear demos. i mean i knew he was in bands and stuff but theres bands and theres bands and hey, were all in a band right? Then i watched his new pedal board being built, which is an insane piece of weaponry right there bro.. and Rabea took us through the board, sculpting the most out of it sounds with the thing. Playing us Toska riffs and pieces with his new creation. Toska. I better check them out. And so i end up here and im like... oh my god. what the hell have i just found?

seems to be fixed in post tho.. sometimes Bea's guitar makes sounds he doesnt play in the video..
It sounds so good because the amps are mic'd. But yeah this is killer.
@@Thommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm This is incorrect. It sounded great, and they started & finished at their allotted time (16:00 - 16:25) after their allotted changeover time (15:35 - 16:00). 🙂

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Dave, Ben, and Rabea are a super rare combination of equal parts cerebral, visceral, and virtuoso. Bea, you guys are the best thing going in rock and metal right now, prog or not. Have a great weekend!

No they won't. Not for an instrumental band. U see Steve Vai, satriani selling out football stadiums? No. They will sell tickets, but not at big venues.
@@reselling4life31 exactly. In those 10 minutes I heard maybe 10 good riffs that could be foundation of good songs, but each one was repeated once or twice and then hastily changed to some other riff or (even worse) weird marginally atonal part which supposedly is there to connect those riffs. For example that move at 5:57 which lasted whole 4 seconds.
Seriously this kind of bands are like jazz for metalheads. Good to grab some ideas, refresh your ears and feel cool and elite. But it will never get popular. Not even close to Vai or Satriani level, heck even monsters like Guthrie Govan can't get there.
@@ThorneyedWT Jazz was a defining genre for decades. Who is to say that this wont happen for this genre.
@@steeldogx11 "this genre" is basically prog rock with more gain. And prog already had it's popularity pinnacle with King Crimson, Rush, Yes and so on. As "music for musicians (and few more people)" it will sure live long but not quite prosper. Also tell me when was last time when Jazz band gathered stadium?
If anything popular music these days becomes simpler and simpler reaching retarded levels of simplicity. Progressions made of same 4 chords over and over again with 3-4 notes hook and same repetitive lyrics. Remember when Pink Floyd was the biggest touring band? Well, forget it. Those days are gone =(
@@ThorneyedWT The biggest tour in the last 3 years was Guns N Roses dude? like the 2nd highest grossing ever and they're in their 50s. Herbie Hancock is a jazz pianist and sells out arenas worldwide. There are jazz festivals that tens of thousands attend. Jamie Cullum also has millions of fans

I haven't heard such a powerful trio of soloists since Cream. Each song, each player - are basically playing rhythmic solos like Cream revolutionized. Toska is God. Toska is Cthulu.

I've been playing guitar for nearly 50 years and in many bands, whilst also seeing many artists live.
These three guys simply are sublime and that performance was one of the very tightest I've seen in many years!

Believe it or not people but this sounded like it was on vinyl in that tent, most crisp metal sounds I've ever heard
That really pleases me, because I always feel like I lose the biggest part of a band's energy through the loss of the integrity of their tone. And Toska, dare I say, is one of the best sounding bands in the business.

I can't believe how huge this sounds! I know it's been recorded properly and not off someone's phone, but holy shit, it sounds like Bea is about 12 people, Ben is a titan and Dave is a goddamn earthquake!

I just realised which band Toska reminds me of, in a sonic sense, not because the music is the same, but because the HUGE sound belies the fact that there are only 3 guys. RUSH. There's a "big" thing going on that few 3-piece bands manage to achieve. Wall of sound, yet not cluttered or messy.
