You and your buddies were very lucky that day. That stretch of road cutting through the forest is notorious for having the traffic cops camping on the sidelines, targeting anyone driving over the speed limits, especially motorcyclists driving on the middle lane. Motorcyclists are allowed to use up to 2 lanes (counting from shoulders) if there are more than 2 lanes on a street elsewhere, but not this road. You can even see the sign that validates what I said at 5:32. Once they pull one of you over, they will pull over the rest for the sake of being uniform since all of you drive big bikes for sweet sweet cash.

@@ryankim76 yep. It is. Be extra careful if you need to go out on your big bike at night when there's a holiday/special ocassion going on. The rule is: 2 days before the holiday, the holiday itself, and the day after the holiday. Traffic cops are really active during these days. They have a big quota and their own giant pockets to fill.
There's the March 8th ahead. Then the April 30th and May 1st too (really dangerous times). Don't mess around and don't drive alone.
Also, at around 10PM everyday, the traffic cops will change shifts, and will start going home at around 9:50PM, so be extra careful around that time. After 10PM, traffic cops of the next shift will always be paired with the Mobile Cops (aka Cảnh Sát Cơ Động). The Mobile Cops - dudes with AKs strapped to their sides (dubbed the "black dogs") act as lookouts. Anyone who looks suspicious (by their standards), or anyone they don't like will be pulled over for the Traffic Cops (dubbed the "yellow dogs" for obvious reason) to process. People on big bikes like you are always the prime targets since they are always rich.
PS: I appreciate you still call this beautiful city by her birth name, instead of that atrocious bs you-know-what. She used to be called the Pearl of Indochina for a reason. Too bad the people lost the war and pay dearly for it everyday, unlike yours. Enjoy!
