Divino Inferno reveals the little-known story behind The Gates of Hell - one of the most enigmatic masterpieces in the history of art, and the key to the sculptor Auguste Rodin's oeuvre as a whole.
Rodin faced numerous struggles and sacrifices in creating that monumental work of art. The Gates of Hell is Auguste Rodin’s artistic triumph, but also the mystery of his life for which he created masterpieces such as The Kiss and The Thinker…
Through the thrilling story of this door’s creation, the visual artist, photographer and filmmaker Bruno Aveillan draw a fascinating portrait of the sculptor and his unrivaled esthaetics approach. He brings a startling visual intensity to this poetic, sensuous documentary film, in which he and co-writer Zoé Balthus explore all aspects of the creation of this unique monument and show just how visionary Rodin was as an artist. Working with contemporary dancers and artists such as Mircea Cantor (2011 Marcel Duchamp Award), Bruno Aveillan had succeeded in making an excitingly physical, aesthetically stunning film that combines visual art, music and literature and takes a totally fresh look at the work of one of the greatest creative artists of all time.
Divino#Inferno was premiered recently on march 24th 2017 at The Grand Palais in Paris for the opening of RODIN, THE CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION. The film was immediatly acclaimed by all the critics in France (Le Monde (« An unique object of art ! »), Télérama (« Superb ! », Le Figaro (« Strong and poetic ! »), Inrockruptibles (« Stunning film ! »), Paris Match (« **** »). From september 2017, It will be shown in several major Art Museum in the world, at the occasion of the centenary of Rodin’s death.

Up until now, the best documentary I've seen in terms of the photography, the editing, music, everything! A breathtaking story that borrows from art and psychology to show Rodin in his true nature.
