What are some mistakes you made when just starting out?
My first day I didn’t realize some batches were multiple orders so I took a 3 order batch for a $39 payout 🤦🏻♀️
Mrs. Viola that is a 🤦♀️ lol... it’s ok though cause you can live and learn
picking up cold items first.
Scott Longpre yeah easy mistake
I have a rule, I'm only accepting 10-15 items and it can't be more than 5 miles from the store to customer. Stress free and I end up making more money than someone who picks 100 items for $50 and drive too far.
Not a bad rule
Great stream as Dylan’s always are very helpful and tremendous audio and video quality 👍👍👍 top of the list of youtubers
Thank you for the great tips. I just started today and definitely already made the mistake of a longer route than anticapted!
Bethany Penardo yeah that is a really good one I definitely didn’t figure that out on my first run... just glad I could help!
Some really good stuff in here. Definitely the last one- can’t be running around in circles too much lol
Matt Brady lol Ik man I would run around literally like a chicken with my head cut off
It’s not easy when the customers don’t answer you though, if they don’t answer and if they don’t specify that they want replacements, then I’m refunding them.
What I do most of the time whenever I get the batches for like 10-15 miles, I don’t drive back I just stay in that area and pick the batches form there. And only come back when I’m done for the day.
Muhammad U Parekh that’s very smart I like that
@Dylan Owens Although I do like your idea about picking up the small batches on your way to near home.
Muhammad U Parekh yeah man both similar concepts!
Muhammad U Parekh I appreciate your comment man
Dylan Owens Ofc
My two main issues are what you said here, backtracking and spending and wasting too much time looking for stuff you can't find. The good thing is that I'm able to deliver on time. What I stopped doing is accepting batches with 3 orders, too stressful if you ask me. Once in a blue moon I may accept a batch with 2 orders if they're small and close together. What I won't do is accept a batch over 15 miles, not worth it to me. But my customers have been very cool and all have given me 5 stars. Me being the nice guy that I am has paid off to say the least.
Sorry I couldn’t be in for the premiere I am currently working...
Dude I've seen those batches here in AZ that are 20-30 miles away. The weird thing is the same store, a Kroger, is 2 or 3 miles away from the customers house, but giving it to me, at the Kroger I'm at 30 miles away. Why not just offer it at the store that closer to the customers house, instead of me 30 miles away??
Landon Cash Ik exactly what your talking about... hate that. And the good batches will pop up you literally just have to be staring at the screen cause they go fast asf
@@DylanOwens1 I know man I'm just going to download a bot to accept any batch over $30, under 2 miles and 30 items 🤣🤣🤣
Landon Cash lol u do U man
@@DylanOwens1 nah I'm messing around. Eyes on the screen all day I guess!!
Landon Cash how u get that cash man 🤷🏼♀️
Did you know you had some serious Orb activity happening around you? Thanks for the tips.....
They are everywhere! Saw another at 3:24!
Lol yeah man sorry about it
Another at 4:02... You have good aura pimping around you.... If they where black? That would be another story.... I'm getting ready for my instacart... Thanks for the tips.
You got a figure it’s $.55-$.60 a mile to run your car whether it’s closer whether it’s far and that’s got to be figured in that’s what it’s costing you per delivery
Frank Critelli what kind of car do you have? And that’s a really great point as well I should have mentioned thank you for your comment
Dylan Owens I have a Toyota Corolla that happens to be very good on gas yeah I mean by deducting the $.55-$.60 a mile just make it $.60 then you’re covered that basically figures in depreciation where in tear the fast you’re going to have to have brakes done sooner tuneups done sooner oil changes done sooner etc. just a real simple way to think of it so when you see these people to say I made $100 in four hours and they think that’s clear profit especially if they only spent 10 bucks in gas but if they drove 100 miles basically take 50 bucks off of that even though you can’t see it immediately that’s a good way to figure the costs
Frank Critelli I like that a lot... that is a very good point it’s something I do take into consideration. Although I don’t y’all about it much on this channel I think i will start too... a good way to carry out that process of deducting the $.60 per mile is to take a portion of your paycheck and put it away for when the time comes when your going to need to replace something or even get a different car. I really like that a lot. Great thinking
Dylan Owens You might also if you’re an independent contractor and your new whip start putting about 20% of what you were in 20 to 25% of what you earn in some type of an interest-bearing account maybe somethings in the mutual funds etc. something that’s very safe so this way when tax time comes you’re not in a bind
Frank Critelli lol way ahead of you on that one.. I have a mutual fund and I also do some investing on my own... really expanded my portfolio last few weeks
i had a batch pop up yesterday..it was 137items/181units...$54 and ZERO tip..lmfao...that's not even the worst part.
118 miles! they wanted their delivery brought to the next state over.
i wonder if anyone even did accepted it. but it was absurd
Yeah I bet you someone prolly looked at the payout and accepted it without thinking that’s so bad
@@DylanOwens1 well one of my friends accepted one when he first started that was 28 miles away..45items/47units and again, zero tip, it was $36 with the surge pay...and he accepted it without seeing the mileage and zero tip, but he did it anyways and the customer gave him a $100 cash tip, the guy lived next to taylor swift lmfao
@@jabroni3133 wow that’s crazy!!!
There is more 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Can you please talk about how the taxes work with being self employed with instacart?
melanie burkemper I can try my best but im probably not the most qualified person to talk taxes but if you have some specific questions I might be able to help.
Dylan Owens ok awesome because I was reading something that you get taxed heavily by the irs since you are technically self employed. Is that true?
melanie burkemper I don’t know about heavily but you will get taxed because you are an “independent contractor”
Dylan Owens do you keep track of your mileage to get tax deductions?
melanie burkemper yes I do there are plenty of really good apps that are available to track mileage... I also log my miles in a google sheets.
