Making Money as an Instacart Shopper| My First Week Earnings
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 тра 2020
- Today I take you shopping with me and show you how much money I made my first week of doing instacart! I've been doing it part time for the past couple weeks and I explain my earnings and some of my struggles with the job. My first week there was lots of available batches and in this video you will see how there arent many available anymore for some reason. Thanks for watching and let me know if you want me to do more of these instacart vlogs!

You just demonstrated why everyone needs to be also on Door Dash, Postmates, or Uber Eats. When IC slows down you immediately switch to food Delivery to fill in the dead time and keep making money. Just keep switching back and forth between the apps. Always be moving.
Screenshot your comment. This is an excellent idea!
J.A.C you cant just remember it? Lol
@@JagginGaming dyslexic and bad memory, so yeah.
thanks for the advice!
Instacart isnt slowing down. Where im at its always busy.
A couple tips for you! If you park at a grocery store waiting for a batch, make sure it's not a store like the one you did "Delivery Only" for. These stores have imbedded IC shoppers that strictly do shopping. The probability that they'll need additional help from the outside is significantly lower than a store that doesn't do curbside pickups. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are traditionally the slowest days whereas Sundays and Mondays tend to be the busiest. Try to make an intro or greeting to your customer as well as ask them if they would like to add anything else prior to checkout. That extra step will give you a boost in tips by adding additional items to their basket AND giving great customer service. Best of luck to you!! :-)
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to follow it.
If your spending a lot of time in grocery stores, and you want another way to make money while shopping, you should try the app PICKL, it pays shoppers $5 to take pictures of products on grocery store shelves.
Noted ✅
Yes the custom greeting comes in clutch when I’m trying to be quick in and out. I set mine to “hi it’s me (name) your instacart shopper. Heads up their out of (insert item) would you like something else as a replacement.” and then just write what’s out of stock because messaging what they’re out of every single time is redundant and slows me down
@@richardchiren2425 hopefully you're using "they're" not "their"
Honestly I’ve been killing it. I’ve done so many 30 dollar batches and even 50 dollar ones ! Made a thousand already in a week and not even working all days too thanks instacart !
X we
Hello how do you get paid more depending on how large is the batch? Thank you.
Where you located that’s hype. 😊🎉
Oh wow! I wish that I could hit those numbers in a week!
Ya but how many miles you putting on your car?
I appreciate what the "shoppers" are doing. I'm high risk because of asthma and I haven't ventured into a store in almost 3 month - so thanks for doing what you are doing :)
Have you stayed home every year?
@@MJ95630 Not usually, no. But because of covid, I'm not taking the chance.
I'm a shopper and I have allergies and asthma
@@lishamarie2752 Unfortunately, I've been on a ventilator before (unrelated to asthma)and it makes things more complicated.
I have asthma and be out all the time
I love how simplistic and to the point this video is. You’re not trying to be a comedian for views and I truly appreciate that. This video is super informative. Thank you
Just a hint when you go into a store to shop ask at the service desk for map of the store.it shows all items. No guessing good luck
Never thought I’d back to shopping again 🛍🛒
Thanks to #LORDSEEDSPY UA-cam Channel
#Lordseedspy UA-cam Channel without a doubt is heaven sent😘🕊
Thank you man
My understanding is that the faster you shop the higher priority you get for upcoming batches.
Loved this video! Always seems youtubers dont have actual jobs, so its great to see someone working. Much respect!
Hi, Chanty!
I work as an Instacart Shopper Customer Support. I bumped onto your video because I'm on 14 day quarantine and couldn't go back to work yet. I really miss work and helping shoppers with their issues and questions that's why I decided to search vlogs about Instacart shoppers and to know more about our shoppers.
This is absolutely unsolicited but I would like to shed some light about the low batches, if there are no reported issues on the app, it is more likely there are more shoppers in your area than customers placing orders. You can actually wait at the store - like what you did and drive around busy areas. There are lots of orders, too, during Saturdays and Sundays.
I hope you are safe and doing great!
If you want more batches, I heard it's good to drive to nearby big cities where there's a lot of dense population so you'll get more orders.
Thats my plan. I'm a truck driver, been on the road for about 3 years, planning on quitting after this year and doing instacart in Minneapolis, its about 40 minutes from my small town of 300. Doing Instacart part time i should be able to regularly clear half of what i currently make trucking. My mom in our home town of 80,000 in California makes $600/week just doing it on her weekends. She's a school teacher. I figure Minneapolis has like 5 times more people than Merced so i should be able to make at least as much as my mom if not more. Small town life is great for cost of living, but not many jobs out here but trucking lol my total bills are like $1400/month so yeah, my hope is to get away with 3 days working for 3 weeks and 5 days for 1 week per month.
I love watching Instacart videos too lol and doordash! I do this in the SF bay area and am moving to LA August 1st. It’s good to know you are staying busy working with Instacart down in LA. I’m excited to work down there!
I order through IC a lot and just came here to see whether I should continue using this company (if they pay fair wages). I have seen senior citizens and women with children delivering stuff so I was hoping not to be part of a company that exploits its workers. This video made me feel better about using them. Good luck to everyone out there!
Hi, I'm looking into instacart now. Right now my life has hit a nail. Ive got children in school and then I've got an infant who can't be in daycare due to health issues. On top of that my older two kids don't have a school bus right now so I'm dropping and picking them up every school day. They're high school kids and one has a half day schedule. I drop off once and pickup twice at two different times from the high school. So I needed something that allows me to take my baby with me and still frees me to pick up my children. Instacart seems like a perfect fit. Im saying this only to say they're not exploiting workers they're actually giving a solution to the needs of many people who can't do a 9 to 5 for whatever reason that may be. I feel blessed to be able to have this as an opportunity because years ago when my older children were little I always felt like I was choosing between being a mom and providing for them. With these services that allow people to work around their lives I no longer feel stuck like ive got to make a choice. Especially when you have a child with health conditions that limit things. If using them helps you keep using them because in helping you it's helping people like myself and I appreciate every user for being able to have the mobility my life needs right now.
Omg this is such a good idea for a video!!! Love it Chanty!!
Thank you! 💜💜
Omg you being excited for grocery outlet bargain market was the cutest thing & it just reminded me of the song 😂 & then realizing that chocolate bar was not a chocolate bar haha
I have by my house. It's the best, I can get some crazy original oatmeal for $.95 a box. It sounds lame until you realize a dollar can go so far in that store..
Thanks for taking us shopping with you. I hope your batches are plentiful the rest of the week. Have a fabulous day Chanty 😃
Your energy is awesome and thanks for sharing I have been thinking about doing this also as a side job but I didn’t have the details… so you have helped me so much to get an idea of how it works!!! I appreciate you sharing this!!!!😀
I like that you show the order’s. Really cool ! People really like the organic stuff .
My first day is today, downloaded the app and signed up. Love shopping so I’m excited to start tonight
How is it? I'm thinking about doing it
I found this so interesting! I'd love to see another one like this!
I made 475 this week. 5 batches a day
@David enjoy putting thousands of miles on your shitty car
@David No need to be a "A" hole, 475 is decent pay. Sure you may make 700 a week but your working like a dog.
@David It take lots of McDonald trips to get $700 a week, especially if your only going 3.5 miles.
@David Point was, there was no need to downplay that guys hard earned $450. To someone else your $700 a week may be crap
Since you like instacart, there's a mobile app called PICKL, which pays shoppers $5 to take pictures of products in grocery stores
I'm so grateful for this video! It was so helpful and gave me the motivation to try instant cart out myself. It's clear and concise and offers excellent advice. I'm excited to give it a try.
Great to see the positivity and the great energy! I live out in Canada and interested in instacart during these times and curious how much people make. Maybe I just might go out and try it myself.
I do it in Edmonton
yessss im so obsessed with instacart videos!! they're the reason i just started working for them last week. Its good to see someone my age doing it too!
This was such an interesting video to watch as we don’t have something like Instacart here where I live! Glad you’ve found a source of income during this hard time 😊 please do more of these!
Thank you!
Great video, very interesting indeed. You do a perfect job! I did not yet know instacart. I wish someone will do a similar job here in Germany. By the way : your language is very good to understand as you pronounce everything perfect. Nice for me to understand as a german person🙂
The stores are packed here in San Jose. Using insta and really enjoyed the time/money aspect. We all need to tip right.
REALLY enjoyed it!! THERES a lot of videos to watch but I liked yours because you explained things in a nice manner.
And your normal. lol
My sister is gonna give it a try, so Im trying to do some
research for her.
Again thanks Chanty
I just love hearing you say Grocery Outlet Bargain Market! 🤣🤣. It makes you so happy and I love it! I love all of your vlogs!
lol I get so excited to go there 😂 ❤️ thank you for watching :)
@@Chantymarie You could easily do Make Up modeling.
This is a great video! I just signed up and am waiting for the card. I want to do this mostly to keep me busy and have something productive to do, and of course also for the money. If I can at very least break even with my spending it’ll be worth while.
I just signed up today too, but I notice your post is from a year ago...so how has it gone for you? I’m nervous cuz I had talked to someone doing Instacart in the store, and he said he always makes at least $200 a day, often mire, but then all the videos I’ve seen on it, and from what I’ve googled, most people are making between $13-$16 an hour, and after deductions that is LESS than minimum wage where I live!!! Like, even BEFORE deductions, $13 an hour is less than minimum wage!!!
So please tell me how you did.
Straight forward, very informational, beautiful voice, thanks for posting!
You are a legend indeed man my batches got increased
Thank you #LORDSEEDSPY UA-cam Channel
It’s awesome that you go early! But sometimes not worth it now since store hours are typically starting at 9am now.
I know this was recorded a year ago but thankful to have watched it! I just started a week ago after doing Shipt
I really appreciate you making this video! I was going to ask you if you could talk about your experience so thank you!
Hi, your absolutely right. Same here first week great after that they just pop up and disappear, or extremely far away. I have complained a couple of times.
I’ve been able to average $1,000/week doing it 40 hours a week. It was a life saver this last week bc my job site was closed down due to AQ. I really haven’t done much IC since May bc I’ve been working a big construction job. But it’s a great side hustle. I also found if there’s no batches to close out app and reopen and then there’s batches. I think it’s a glitch or something. I also deduct $1.25/hr for gas on avg bc I drive a truck with hemi. Half of my deliveries take 25-35 min near Portland but they usually tip $25-40. Sign up ASAP bc they aren’t taking on more shoppers in some areas.
Which Portland? I’m in Portland, Oregon
I honestly have never heard of this insta cart but sounds cool I would love to get paid to shop! Also love your videos!
Thank you so much!
I love grocery shopping. Awesome job 💗
Awesome breakdown, thank you! :) I've been binge watching instacart shopping videos too! lol
we have a grocery outlet in my area also. I like their prices but not everything you find in a regular grocery store. I like to go there for snacks for my daughter.
Loved this video. I’ve never watched an Instacart shopper vid. Very interesting to see the other side of the process. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you 😊
Thx for making this blog. You are really good.
Yes! Please do more videos like this :)
This must have been so hard during May 2020. Thank you for this video. I watched this twice.
Love it! Finally a honest review.
Your review is honest. These people claiming huge batches are having trouble with the truth.
When they show earnings they never scroll down in the app. I make 1k a week and it takes 46-50 hours per week in SoCal.
What does that break down hourly pay?
I want to work 4 days a week and only 6hrs how much can I make in SoCal
Catherine Tran if he works 50 hours that’s $20/hr
19 hours at $464 here in NorCal.
I love Instacart, it works for me as long as I keep my stars up, and work the required hours. I do this part time, we get hot days, rainy days, light orders or heavy orders. We deal with apartments, gated communities, companies, ect.. so far it’s been a great side job for me! I’ve worked in many cities from LA to OC, the amount of work varies… but once you get the hang of it you will find your area and what area makes you money. I have another job as well, asked my boss if I can keep this job. He was ok with it, I also looked up question online about second jobs, on a job law thing it said that no one has the right to stop you from money (second job) unless companies are competing against each other, its interfering with your regular working hours, duties and attendance. I’ve been with Instacart for about 3 years. I would do it full time but scared lol… scared that it can probably shut down one day. Just got a perm position, my pay will go up and down because of union things, rules agreement and some benefits are only temporary so I am so thankful for this second job!
This was an adorable video. Loved it.
Thinking about this for my kid whom is trying to go to school. Really great explanations on how this works. You might want to try being the shopper only. It pays per hour, per the app. Are there more orders for evening perhaps?
I always enjoy your videos! Keep on trucking -
Thank you for showing how this works..You guys work very hard.Thank you. Keep safe.
I love watching instacart videos and thank you for taking us with you ☺️
thank you for watching ❤️
Chanty Marie you’re welcome ❤️
Your batches are sparse but you're compensated really well with good tips. I'm lucky to get a $5 for a 30-40 batch out here on Fresno CA.
I live in PA and we have a grocery outlet here. I love going to find the random things they have.
Ok, it's late, I have to go sleep
Tomorrow is gonna be my first day shopping!
Thanks for making this video. It helps a lot of what to expect while you're shopping
Cool to see how you guys do it. I order through Instacart often. 👍
Great video (as I enjoy your mushroom soup recipe) 😁
Love the grocery outlet too!! You must try all their ORGANIC FRUIT. I love it all specially the FROZEN MANGO!!
Yes I have seen they have great frozen fruit selection!
Thank You for this video so helpful! I have been debating whether to become a shopper or not.
Hey i really appreciate you sharing the experience! Im really looking into this!
I just found out I’m pregnant and don’t think I my jobs gonna keep me... I’ve only been there for two weeks then all the sudden can’t do things so this is going to be a life saver for me!!!
There’s heavy lifting
Chanty, where did you get your masks at? Also, what is the average that people tip? You might also really enjoy being a Mystery Shopper. It doesn't pay a lot but it's just fun. I like it when you take us inside the store with you. This was a blast! More, more more please!
Love ALL your videos!
Thank you so much😊😊
Thank you for sharing; I'm starting tomorrow and I'm trying to get my best start.
Good for you for being safe out there! Good job. Liked
My 1st Instacart umm “a day in a life of a shopper” video ? Lol was curious about how ya guys do that. I’m in central Cali, and your video was pretty cool. Be safe and I’m check out what other videos you got 👍👍👍
Well this was a BIG help. I've been thinking about doing this but had questions that couldn't be answered until You made this video. It was very informative and honest and helped alot! 👍 So thank you, and I'll be watching. Get that contact fixed or something. It driving me crazy! Lol
I work at Kroger as a cashier but lately has been getting enough hours there and I see lots of people coming in as instacarts orders and I'm always surprised when I hear how much they make a week w this job my customers really pushed me to make me wanna do instacart ! haha, anyways I'm waiting for the psychical card!
You put a lot of miles on your car deprecating the value
I did food delivery with Uber for an entire year I definitely had to learn what direction to go in and what times to go in and I noticed a lot of people ordered fast food after work so typical times for 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and after that it was definitely sporadic throughout the day but I knew that there was a certain direction I had to go and when I learned that I kept getting orders constantly fail I just kept going in This One Direction and I would always get it ordered within 2 minutes
I do Instacart as well and have experience le the same thing with batches. I try to take advantage of the close ones before they stop coming and I’d have to head out further away.
Great content. Thanks for sharing your experience
This is such an interesting concept! We don’t have this function in Australia x
Your voice is so good. I could hear you all day ❤️
I loved this video!
I’ve been doing instacart for a while as a side job. For me, it’s pretty much a weekend only job. Hardly any batches during the week. Also, I deliver DoorDash in the evenings and that helps. But I don’t get people tipping big like you talked about either.
Veggie Lovin Accountant I’m thinking about doing this; how does it work with paying for the costumer’s order at the store? That’s the thing I’m confused with...thanks!
Maria do Carmo Sarmento instacart will give you a card to use like a debit card. You just swipe that card and instacart handles everything.
Great Video waiting for my first batch!
Enjoyed the video. Interesting. Please do more of these videos.
Thank you, I was nervous now I feel ready to go.
Awesome video. Might have to do instacart next week 😁 especially since edd is crazy and I'm broke lol
It’s pretty fun and easy!
Ooh this should be interesting bc I love insta cart!
awesome... just signed up today im nervous too but im also excited :)))
I just did my first batch!! Took me almost 2 hours to get there, shop, and deliver. Instacart paid me $7. Still hoping I get a tip. What a waste of time.
@@jonathanbehnke511 was there no orders or stores near your home?
Don’t be it’s cake today was my first day made 68.20 ..hardest part is finding the items in the store.
@@fulfillingtv2918 true I started a few days ago. My easiest store was target because I know it like the the back of my hand. But different grocery stores that I never frequent were hard especially with items that are unfamiliar and that most people don’t go looking for in the grocery store. I’ve had to to replace or refund a lot of bigger orders. I made almost 300$ in 4 days though so not bad
I had just told my husband that I love watching people shop for instacart and then you said it in your video lol. I did my first instacart shop today. Of course my app froze when I walked into the store 😑
Wowwwww , that sucks!!! Lol but so funny😂
Also, all the grocery stores started drive up and delivery, shift and everyone joined in, which took away from us Instacart crew! Ps. I am so like you, shopping for myself while I get others things hahahaha!!
Heard since this market is so hot now, bots have been developed to grab batches so quickly that real people won't be able to find any high paying batches.
literally there will be a 57 dollar one and you dont even get a chance to click it
Where do the batches go?
Bots please explain sir Huang?
Not bots. There’s probably just many other instacart shoppers who are are also waiting patiently to get orders and grab them more quickly than you
Those are some insane tips! People are paying more in tips than the actual groceries. I usually just pay 10-15% tip since it would get out of hand paying more than that for every delivery.
They’re only paying more than Instacart pays, not the groceries, which is an atrocious $7! amount for the time shopping, driving , and various frustrations that come up because we want the order right for the customer. As a shopper, it is highly appreciated and also we may not pick up your batch otherwise. I would tip at least $5 if not more for us to pick it up.
I think the insane top time was only during the beginning of lockdown
Hello Chanty, when your shopping with Instacart do you pay with a card from Instacart or do you buy the groceries an in return Instacart reimburses you back
dude fkk yah Grocery Outlet rules! I'm always raiding the one here in RedondoBach :p
-and that Tahoe granola trail mixbar is good :)
Great vid, been thinking of IC lately. Some side cash on off days.
i think that the second week of shopping is just rough, I am currently on my second week of shopping and i haven’t gotten like any batches
Thanks for your input and sharing. Yes there are slow days but making $50.00 for 2 hrs is not bad.. better than making nothing and not getting any orders so great work and keep it up . I do agree with Brandon if you are looking to make a income maybe you should switch apps so when you are slow you are doing something else.
I enjoyed this video!
Excellent video you explained everything so well 😊
Question. Do the customers keep the green bag or that was yours to keep to put grocery bags in? i saw it in the backseat
Love it!
I drive Uber and Lyft in Los Angeles and sometimes Postmates. I’ve thought about signing up for Instacart but not sure yet.
Oh yeah, grocery outlet is great. I grew up next to one, and as kids do (30 some odd years ago) since it had a lot of rainbows around it, we all just called it... Wait for it... Rainbow Foods :). WinCo is better though, but much larger. And when I discovered Food City in Phoenix, it was like the angels descended from the heavens (avocados ten for a dollar!?!?!?!!!)
Grocery shopping is totes fun :)
Yeah I found it interesting. There are a lot of opportunities during this time. You can grow microgreens. They grow super fast, in a few days, and are the freshest kind of food that people love. Broccoli sprouts in particular. I just had a thought. I'm not sure if you do anything to get extra business, but I was thinking you could maybe make up some business cards and drop them in the mailbox/letterbox of your neighbors and maybe get more business, because there are probably a lot of people who don't know and would like some help getting food during the pandemic. I was also wondering if somebody wants animal products. I would find that pretty difficult.
Microgreens would be so fun to grow thanks for the idea!
The batches have been so low in pay and too far away. I heard there's a 3 party app that people can buy to pull the batches out of instacart. Sometimes the batches dissappear before your eyes. I've given up.
It's illegal to put things in mailboxes. You can leave something on the door or a doorknob but leave the mailboxes alone.
I just got my stuff can’t wait to start lol 😂
So it’s slow in La that’s surprising! I am like you I find this whole thing very interesting and I am thinking of doing this on Fri and sat on my days off from Amazon to bring in extra money from a side hustle.
Wow the tip was higher than the batch payment! The customer in your area is generouse. 👍😁
