    This is the exact comparison I was looking for. I think using the effects is fine; I’m not going to play the guitar totally dry all the time. I do wish that they would’ve played each pickup back-to-back for a better direct comparison.

    The biggest difference between the I-35 and the I-35 LC is the price. The LC is already very expensive,the 35 I can't afford! But next monday I'm gonna pick up and get my LC !! Yeah, I'm haPPy nOw! Futhermore: Anthony thank you so much,great and nice work!

    great comparison, but I wonder why they use so much effects, especially reverb, delays, and such in most of demo ? I can't actually get real tone the guitar has...

      Hi! I try to offer a fair amount of fairly dry tones, but I do also like to add my personal touch to these videos...There are plenty of sections in the video where the only effect being used is the reverb on my amp. Other moments include delays and drives, because this is my aesthetic. I promise you, the I-35 is doing the real work in this video!

    The I35 sounds more LesPaul'ish, as the LC is more of a traditional 335 tone. Both sound great and Collings is one of the most if not the most well built instruments in the world. RIP Bill
    Edit: I like the resonance of the LC better, so do I prefer the Lollars as opposed to PG 102's. You get a lot of articulation with the Lollars and diversity by tweaking the volume and tone pots. You go from jazzy to modern and rock if you push the amp to the edge of breakup :) This instrument is light, well balanced has one of the nicest necks I have tried, a flawless finishing and plays like a dream. You get what you pay for \m/

    I've played a SG for years and recently got a Les Paul, Dot, and ES-339 in the last year. The Dot feels a bit too big with it running into my chest when I sit and the Les Paul feels a bit too small. The ES-339 fits me just about perfectly, but I am curious what just a slightly bigger guitar than the ES-339 would feel like. Based off the measurements and proportions, this seems to be about the same shape as those two but about halfway between them in sizes, so I definitely need to find a place that carries these and try one out. If it fits me as well as or better than the ES-339, one of these in a purple finish with gold hardware would be my dream guitar. :)

    Good comparison. Both sound great, but I-35 for me. I like that it’s a unique guitar. A hybrid of a 335 and a Les Paul, if you will. If I wanted laminate construction tone I’d probably look for a good 335. I think I’d go for the I-35 deluxe, which has some very nice appointments.

    To my ears- the LC has a bit more of a strong fundamental. Obviously both guitars are tone monsters. Nice demo.

    Great Demo and playing! Not sure why some peeps are complaining about the usage of pedals since most of us mortals use pedals in our sound chain anyway. Both sound great but for my money, I'm gravitating toward LC though for that darker and more defined tone if that make sense. Thank you, Anthony!

    Interesting. Your I-35 sounds darker and a bit less open than mine. I wonder if that has something to do with the ThroBak pups. Mine are Lollars.

    • @fourthofseven

      Yes indeed! The Lollars have much more clarity & tonal range.

    I35 more woody and warmer, both great but I’m going to go with the I35.

    Beautiful playing as always Anthony. For some reason I actually preferred the LC..
    I'd buy about 6 Collings/Waterloo guitars tomorrow if I had the coin!
    What's the song theme you keep coming back to?

    With the four guitars that you have in that shot you could purchase a 2022 Ford Maverick with.
    I get it they look amazing they sound amazing they're definitely something that you're going to hold on to forever. 6k for a guitar though? The purchase of one of those guitars should come with a girlfriend and admiration from my family at that cost.

    I was not happy with the settings on the amp. It was not a tone set that showed the best of what both guitars had to offer.

    Tonality is the arrangement of pitches as opposed to "tone"

    up in the central Kentucky area,nationwide and global,there is a great guitarist, integral and foundation band member.and an instructor named Dale Adams, the Tone Dr of the LEXLABBAND..for what its worth just wanted to say what a bang up job he does with the Collings guitars himself and several axemen in the band..would be hard pressed to believe hes not known at Collings..........the Collings quality and the LLB talent shine well together

    This is almost pointless using overdriven sound as you can't hear the pure guitar

    • @daw162
      @daw162 4 роки тому +6

      Incorrect - the overdriven sound just at the edge of break up like this is what most of us want to hear.

    Demo would be better if you did not use so many effects. The point is to listen to the tone of the guitar. I went back and forth between the two guitars and could not hear a difference due to the saturation and colour of the effects. Please do the demo with no effects. I did not find this comparison useful at all.

    Which Collings is essentially a Gibson ES-335?

    • @yourefromdownsouth9728
      @yourefromdownsouth9728 3 роки тому

      The I-35 LC would be the most direct comparison in terms of construction. Gibson ES-335 has a laminate top, not solid like the original I-35.

  • @CarlyonProduction
    @CarlyonProduction 2 роки тому

    Would have preferred a more direct comparison. You played completely differently on each guitar and barely used a pick on the LC. Too much messing with the tone control.
    Ideally in a comparison like this, I want to hear the same thing played on each instrument, so I can evaluate the differences more accurately.
    That said, great playing and tone!

    • @daw162
      @daw162 4 роки тому +1

      Hopefully, you've had the chance to own one now. They're just a better guitar than a gibson in every way. And I've had twice as many gibsons as collings.

      Hi guys I’m in the same boat. Got a ton of Gibsons, but now considering on getting an I-35. From a semi-hollow humbucker perspective, I have 2 ES-355s, but I want to go boutique. Collings is high on that list.
