Thank you for your most informative video - back in the day, we only had the rather dry hardcopy 'User Manual' to rely on! I was lucky enough to have picked one of these 465 'scopes up at a car boot sale for just £10, or about 14 USD. I reckoned that even if it had been dropped in salt water when switched on, it would still make me a profit from selling the case, fascia, knobs, etc, since it was quite a looker. Put it on an isolated supply via a 100W bulb to limit any fault current, after testing for earth continuity, and switched on the power - it appeared to draw somewhat more than it ought from the glow of the series lamp. However, the instrument presented 2 reasonable traces! It's not a 100% yet, but everything is there and she's trying, so I will be replacing tant's in the PSU to start and work from there. I shall be keeping this one for sure!
I have a 475 model, it is like the 465, but has 200 MHz bandwidth. A great instrument. I replaced power supply capacitors. Now I have to replace the U930 and/or R931 because of instability of the delay time position (the longer the time, the higher the instability).
I know you would like to have seen it on the 465, but I did a search of my videos and found a demonstration video called Hitachi V-152F prt3. Maybe something there for you?
@@bap8guy Thank you for your time and efforts. I like component testing on scopes and often do it via the X-Y option on my Tek 2465-BCT. I just bought a Tek 465 without manuals and wanted to do the same on it. There is an "or X-Y" mode notation by the Ch-2 button on the Volts/Div panel. Obviously, Ch-1 and Ch-2 would need to be selected and in-use. Or, do you only need to select Ch-2 to engage both for this mode? Also, where I expect it, there is the X-Y choice on the Time/Div dial. It has a line connecting X-Y to the "Horiz Display" button column just to the left. So, just wanting to know the proper setup for X-Y mode usage on this model. Like to do things right. I have ordered service and instruction manuals from eBay folks, so will know for sure when they arrive. Thx.
@@surgingcircuits6955 You place the Horizontal Time knob into XY position (1st step I believe) then you input the X signal on channel 1 and the Y signal on channel 2. There are limitations to this in terms of input frequencies and how far apart you can have them be.
Excellent video! I have a digital Tek TDS1002B since 2008 and I'm happy with it. Recently I run into the opportunity of buying one of these used Tek 465 (not the B version) for $150. Is it worth buying and having it nowadays?
I have a Tektronix 2213. I want to love it, but if I increase the intensity of the beam, it'll produce a double beam like 90° out of phase with the original. I checked, and it's not my function generator that's causing this to happen :/
Hi m8 , i have a 465M which i love, wondering if you can advise on a problem since my Telinstruments 25mhz scope took a heavyfall off the bench, i cannot bet the Ch1 vertical position any higher than the bottom of the display, ua-cam.com/video/ev46QpcK8K4/v-deo.html Hope you can help Regards Andrew
Nice scope. I have a 2245 (along with a few more analogue, that I don't use, and 1 new digital)

Thank you. Well done and described. Would liked to have seen the XY mode shown. Cheers!

@@bap8guy , thank you for the information. I will do a followup in the near future.
