It was painful in TOS, because she was in embarrassing, pining doormat. Here she is a strong, vivacious woman with a rounded life in history. And Spock seems to be in as painful in love with her - if not more - than she is with him. I so appreciate how this show has redeemed, both Chapel and T’Pring.@@DaylanTheAngrySauerkraut
This was when she fell in love with spock as she triee to pull herself away after he made her smile, trying to keep herself emotionally distant from the situation.
I hope Spock tries the head slap that she did but it be completely inappropriate, it would make a funny moment of him trying something human and failing. 🤣
I was not captivated by Discovery, I grew up with TNG and DS9 - not so much with Voyager -. I didn't feel any connection to the characters. On the other hand, if it happens to me with SNW and the entire crew. Great choice of actors. I want to see more.
man it's interesting you point this out because this was the first scene where I really felt like Ethan Peck sounded like TOS Spock. and at the same time, this entire scene for some reason felt very TNG or DS9-like...in the sense that it was a low stakes conversation (low stakes in the grand scheme of things), but the humanity of the scene was so relatable a huge problem with both Discovery and PIcard was that it was constantly moving from threat of existence to threat of existence and you couldn't catch a damn breath
Thank goodness for that cos the old Chapel was frustratingly useless. Like Uhura. Christine from TOS was basically a model and comfort woman on the enterprise with those colorful dresses and being the damsel in distress. That bitch would just float around the corridors in 👗 👗 during a crisis and no one qould be like: bitch where your uniform at. Remember when she and Uhura kind of started a mutiny. And almost switched loyalties. More than once. It was madness. This Christine thinks quickly. She is actual help in sick bay. She's as brave as the men, which would be necessary to earn a spot on the flagship and she understands Spock pretty well. ❤ I only watch parts of TOS cos of Spock and McCoy. Kirk got on my nerves with those cartoon punches and his promiscuity. I do love him for his speeches, good decisions and his love for his crew, but gimme Picard any day.
Why is everyone suggesting she has a thing for Spock? She is giving him advice to benefit his relationship with his fiance. Also she says she doesn't do relationships.
I am just not a fan of Nurse Chapel on this show. She doesn't look or act like any kind of nurse or officer. She looks like the girl from Sucker Punch and she's more like comedy relief sorority girl. I just don't see Spock ever being interested in someone like that. It makes no sense.
You're wrong because in the original show Nurse Chapel also had feelings for Spock but he could not give in to his feelings. Jess Bush is a younger, more sexy and friendlier version of Chapel. And Ethan Peck, ditto as Spock. I loved that the new show allowed them to consummate thier love. They hinted at this since season 1 .
@@rafaelnycpr I have kinda changed my mind about Chapel. I disliked her after the first episode, but she has grown on me as the season went on. I just finished season one and now I like her. lol. Who knew?
She's in love with Spock, and yet gives helpful advice for handling his current relationship. That says a lot
Yeah that does,
And it is a really special thing
Poor Chapel, it was painful enough in TOS, now watching it all over again ... she is and always was amazing

Great scene by the two actors, also beautifully directed, great framing & editing, very old school, almost no camera movement (thank God).
Yes it's pretty cool looking
She's madly in love with Spock. She can't hide it LOL
Truths
No one can hide anything from spock
oh yeah .. she got it bad.
She literally says she avoids relationships
This was when she fell in love with spock as she triee to pull herself away after he made her smile, trying to keep herself emotionally distant from the situation.
Yeah I totally agree with that
Plus this scene was acted very well between both actors.
For HER sake I hope there's a reality where she and spock are happily married with kids
In the multiverse
You know Hollywood they drag it out if the fans ship them lol and it will take a few movies after the series. Like with Riker and Troi 😉
@@abigailbologa8889 yes that's Also true

Yeah that would be something
seems more like something Data would do lmfao but yeah either way it would be hilarious
This show was a breath of fresh air after discovery
Exactly right

What a good show :-)
Yeah it's pretty cool
I can't wait for season 2
This actress is so goddamn attractive, it's weird
Anyone know where the dresses of the bar staff can be found? The shiny rainbow outfits?
The only resemblance to the original Chapel is her blonde hair and her crush on Spock.
That's really interesting
Until now I never noticed that
Thanks for bringing that up

Well, it HAS been over 3 decades. Bringing Majel Barrett back would be gruesome since she's been dead for a long time.
@@FreeSpirit47 I have to say, I'm a little disappointed they didn't have Rebecca Romijn play both Number One and Nurse Chapel
@@popburnsy3207 hahahaha they should have had Sarek's actor play the Romulan in the season finale lol
What does he say at the end? Humans are....as Vulcans? I can't make it out.
Humans are easy to Teaseas Vulcans
I think and I hope this helps in anyway
"Oh I know. Humans are almost as easy to tease as vulcans"
Not the first time she slapped him. TOS anyone?

Because Christine Chapel was in love with Spock in the Original Series
@@LAKnightAuthor She probably secretly liked it when she and Spock were forced to kiss in "Plato's Stepchildren."
