      You said it man. It’s refreshing to see a Pats pundit calling out the real problems and not trying to make up stupid excuses while continuing to blame Belichick like a lot of these other lazy media members. Mayo is a Fn clown show and the Patriots have become a circus act. They need to hire Mike Vrabel at HC and bring in someone from the Lions front office, like a head scout for drafting personnel and hire someone from the Lions, Vikings or Bucs on the offensive side of the ball to be OC.

    I'm a Chargers fan 43 years and I've dealt with some baaaaad teams, as ya know! But I honestly thought it would be 24--14 or something similar, but I was shocked bc we're in a rebuild! But the one thing I'd disagree with is , the players have some blame ! When they spoke with a couple Patriots players their reply was "They wanted it more" We didn't show effort! And that's not the Patriot Way! Win, lose or draw . The Patriots ALWAYS gave the opponent a bad time, but that was bad! Wishing you a Happy n Healthy New Year Pats fans!

      The "Patriot Way" is quite simple but apparently difficult to do. "Just do your job and the game will look after itself" . Of course that infers doing you job is more important than making the highlight reel or building up your stats or just fully understanding what your job in fact is.

    You know what I've thought about recently? If the Patriots landed the #1 pick last year and drafted Caleb Williams, I think Mayo would 100% be fired. The national media scrutiny would be like what we saw in Chicago and Mayo's horrendous coaching would be covered nationally on a weekly basis. It's unfortunate that Drake didn't have that kind of hype coming out so the pats are basically never talked about nationally.

    This coach can't see what the other team is doing to his team in real time. He doesn't jump into the defensive players on the bench during the game because he has no clue. The job of a coach is to prepare, develop, change course from one drive to the next. All this culture crap comes with the players believing in you as a coach. If you dont know whats happening....you cant fix it. He faked it to the top. The Emperor has no clothes and the players knows it.

    The problem with Billionaires is that can never admit mistakes. The only way this franchise turns around is if Kraft swallows some pride and lets Mayo go and hires Vrabel - a proven winner and who is 10x the coach Mayo is. I get everyone wants to fire Mayo but keeping Wolf would be equally if not more detrimental. This is the team’s most important off season since they fired Carroll. With their draft picks and cap space they have the ability to be in contention for a playoff spot like the Commanders and Chargers this year if they make the right moves. If not it could cost them the next 3-4 years and Drake’s rookie salary window. I initially wanted them to bring in Ben Johnson but the franchise is worse off than we thought and they need someone with Vrabel’s experience to right the ship.

God forbid there's constructive, honest debate where people can disagree. Thank you Bedard!!
    I would rather people and former players be honest about how bad and how much worse this season was than any of the seasons in the past 30 seasons. People need to stop trying to sugar coat the disaster that is the Patriots Preparation week to week, constant Penalties & Lack-Luster player energy / game plan / halftime adjustments.
    Most NCAA College teams could Beat this Patriots Team and it's not because of lack of Talent.
    They were a top 10 Defense in Points Allowed last season and that was with Mac Jones throwing Interception and Fumble Parties the 1st half of the season putting the Defense in short field situations over and over again, and the defense still finished #9 overall in points allowed under great coaching, preparation, X's & O's / halftime adjustments.
    Imagine last seasons Defense, with Drake Maye at QB, they would have been a top 3 Defense in Points Allowed and make the playoffs with ease.
    I respect your Honest Take Bedard and appreciate that you don't not playing favorites or politics when it comes to the Patriots Performance.

There was little progress on the offense when Maye started but hindered by Oline and AVP. The defense has done a complete 180. Like they forgot how to play football. Mayo isn’t the guy. He doesn’t have a handle on the team and it’s becoming more and more evident. Even players are calling for a change. It’s clear he isn’t ready and this team needs experienced leadership not just yes men. We are in a great spot with cap and draft position and we don’t need a qb. Not for nothing but if you want to direct blame it should be at Robert and Jonathan Kraft as all matters flow from these two. They determine the budget for coaching, personnel department and players. All of this leads to the choices of who was hired, who was signed and who was drafted with cost control and budgets in mind. It was never a matter of getting the best coaches, personnel department and players. Whenever it came down to spending money the Krafts came up short. So media and fans can say things till we’re blue in the faces but till Krafts decides otherwise we are SOL!!!!🤬🤬🤬

    Retain Elliot Wolfe??? youre out of ur mind. Out of every draft pick and FA aquisition, the only good move was Drake Maye which was the most obvious pick ever. I think the whole building should be fired but if it's only one person fired, it should be Wolfe. He built this trash roster over the last 4 years.

    I see it (running it back) as a yuge risk. It's more likely to stay broken than the other way around. Then things are doubly broken, the hole is dug even deeper, and the mental health of the players will be affected.

    I don’t understand the mindset of a fan base who had 35 years of horrific play, followed by 20+ of being competitive and winning, and then run the coach out of town because “changes were needed”, and then want a winning season right away. Unreal.

    • @Zahok1
      @Zahok1 5 днів тому +4

      Literally nobody wanted or expected a winning season. What they want is to see progress and there is none of it.
      Maye is already better than Mac Jones and yet this team has half the wins as last year.
      The defense regressed horrifically even though last year both Gonzo and Judon were out for the season after game 3 or 4.
      Head coach keeps throwing everyone under the bus and then walks it back every Monday as he’s laughing it up with the radio people.
      So … his record is bad, the progression has declined, the optics are bad and the team overall is much less disciplined than ever before.
      Why would anyone want that back? What’s the positive?

    • @mpolinsk22
      @mpolinsk22 5 днів тому +1

      @@Zahok1 Exactly, no one expected great things this season, no one expected a winning record or playoffs. But they expected competitiveness. They've actually been better at WR this year, they've been possibly better on the line (although it's still terrible, it's not the complete jailbreak as it was for most of last year), and Maye is, at the very least, more talented than Jones/Zappe. Plus they've had a much easier schedule. Yet here they are 3rd from the bottom of the league on offense and 7th from the bottom in points allowed on D (though some of that is on the offense too). They still have a long way to go on their talent level, but it's pretty tough to say it's not better than it was. Between that and the absurdly weak schedule, the fact that they're worse off not significantly better than last year is wholly an indictment on the staff.

    This is a very honest report about what’s going on. Mayo isn’t ready yet. Seems like a good guy, but that doesn’t qualify someone as a head coach. Krafts need to not let ego get in the way of doing what’s best for the team. We need a change. The team is worse in all regards, except QB, than it was at the start of the season.

    Gregs take on Polk is BS. Polk’s played extremely poorly. He needs to take some responsibility for his poor play. He’s been given 45% of the snaps on the year, and has caught 12 of 33 passes thrown to him for 87 yards. Im not blaming the GM, head coach, OC or WR coach, the kid needs to step up. Most players don’t get this much playing time when you’ve played so poorly.

      Correction, he has taken responsibility. When has the patriots ever had a scarnecia type wr coach? Brown should have been but nope. 😢Polk still way under contract, draft like he doesn’t exist then see what’s up. Still way better than drafting based solely on speed as in Thornton.

    • @mpolinsk22
      @mpolinsk22 4 дні тому

      @shootermcgaven02 I don't know about it being worse than the Thornton pick. At least the speed was an elite trait. Polk had nowhere near anything that plays at an NFL level. He's not quick, he's not outright fast, he's not even big. He got super favorable match-ups routinely against #2 and #3 DBs at Washington and was still routinely blanketed.
