It's impressive that you were able to enjoy the series in the manhua format, i can only imagine how much you would like the actual novel where a lot less important things are cut out or changed and the story is far longer.
just to provide an example, he puts 2 twins in a cauldron to make a gu in the 2nd arc and fed a young girl to a bear alive in the first. It's not digestible for a lot, but this kind of graphic violence doesn't repeat as often later in the story, around 600 chapters-ish i think.
I stopped reading some chapters after the death of the twins, after he got into to colisseum or something(around 150 ish chapter). Does it get worse till around 600 chapters? Im just asking because I can't read stuff like that without feeling shit tbh, but the world looked so interesting and i wanna discover more.

I started reading the light novel way back when. it was still at 800+ chapters when I first found it, and it honestly changed me. when I read the last chapter, it was devastating to find out the CCP nuked Gu Zhen Ren (the author) for subtly criticizing one of their ministers by making a character with a similar name that is very strong, skilled and competent yet also very arrogant, selfish and scheming.
For all the heinous things he has done, one can't help but admire is ability to commit to his goal. Then again, maybe alot of people would've gotten far with that kind of mindset. Only tricky part would be applying it in more positive light rather than the pragmatic mindset the MC is using.
The closest thing we could get to Fang Yuan in Manhua and Manhwa adaptation is from "I Am the Fated Villain" and even then he's still softhearted compared to the 🐐 himself.
He is like Jun Wu killing thousands with no remorse . A person who lives like this may live long ,rich etc . But won't achieve anything in my opinion. They will just feel a space in them that can never be filled by anything.

Reverend Insanity is the book that kept me hooked for months till i finished 4 years ago, and it was by far the best decision i ever took on my life. It was something which changed the way in shich i saw the world. The journey that story convey is beyond just fantastic or entertaining. But maybe somewhere deep down i dont want others to find this book.

The book has more than 2100 chapters and has many philosophical reasonings/teachings, you get immersed reading the same book for multiples consecutives months following the life of an individual that's the exact opposite of what you normally see it's understandable to change your point of view on certains aspects of life.

yall should really read chinese novels, there ARE characters that are more evil compared to western media, a LOT more stronger power system compared to dragon ball or anime for all that mattered and of course, because of their years of literature, the character writing can be a total hit or miss, fang yuan is definitely a hit in the genre of an evil protagonist, there's even one that's crueler than fang yuan because he destroys humanity as a whole AS a human himself, not to get stronger but because...he's strong enough, so why not? that should tell you about his character, but the writing isnt bad like you'd expect he isnt overpowered from the start.

Honestly Fang Yuan is more like their sun than their son, he's lived far, far longer with a much more resolute philosophy. Johan can't even appreciate life, griffith merely comprimised between his goals and his friends, and Chrollo isn't really impressive enough to be mentioned.

DO NOT READ prince of thorns. I read it like 4 years ago and it still makes me cringe. The first book is alright but the series goes downhill quickly as in the second book the protagonists love interest gets r*ped by a fat ugly priest while shes unconcious and the priest successfully pins the blame on the MC. (She is also made to believe shes pregnant through dream magic because apparently some evil dream wizards wanted to help another prince win the throne so they brainwashed her) He gets his revenge on the priest later but the entire book is nothing but suffering, and reading everything from the female heroines perspective is even more suffering. The culmination of the mc's triumph over all odds is somewhat gratifying, but it leaves a hallow mark on you. I couldn't bear to read the 3rd book as the 2nd had ruined everything. At the end the MC becomes emporer and the heroine still hates the MC to her bones and she becomes one of the evil dream wizards after killing one of them.

Reverend Insanity is the book that kept me hooked for months till i finished 4 years ago, and it was by far the best decision i ever took on my life. It was something which changed the way in shich i saw the world. The journey that story convey is beyond just fantastic or entertaining. But maybe somewhere deep down i dont want others to find this book.

The book has more than 2100 chapters and has many philosophical reasonings/teachings, you get immersed reading the same book for multiples consecutives months following the life of an individual that's the exact opposite of what you normally see it's understandable to change your point of view on certains aspects of life.

DO NOT READ prince of thorns. I read it like 4 years ago and it still makes me cringe. The first book is alright but the series goes downhill quickly as in the second book the protagonists love interest gets r*ped by a fat ugly priest while shes unconcious and the priest successfully pins the blame on the MC. (She is also made to believe shes pregnant through dream magic because apparently some evil dream wizards wanted to help another prince win the throne so they brainwashed her) He gets his revenge on the priest later but the entire book is nothing but suffering, and reading everything from the female heroines perspective is even more suffering. The culmination of the mc's triumph over all odds is somewhat gratifying, but it leaves a hallow mark on you. I couldn't bear to read the 3rd book as the 2nd had ruined everything. At the end the MC becomes emporer and the heroine still hates the MC to her bones and she becomes one of the evil dream wizards after killing one of them.

Although he doesn't do it for the sake of it and neither does he enjoy doing it but he's extremely ambitious towards his goals and he would go to any lengths to achieve his goals and a large part of this is also due to the harsh world of Gu where the protagonist lives in.
