I'm a huge fan of Vintersea, they're obviously masters of their craft but the are one of the few bands that will actually have dialogue with their fans. Glad you gave them a chance. They really don't have a bad track IMHO.

VINTERSEA’s albums are concept albums and each song and it’s placement in the album is purposefully evoking a specific vibe/sound, and when it comes to their videos, aesthetic as well. The way the vocals were mixed here were done softly and blend in a lot of areas on purpose. This is their softest, most ethereal song by far. No VINTERSEA song really sounds like another imo. If softer vocals used more instrumentally aren’t your thing, maybe you’d be more into Befallen (mostly harsh vocals) or Fiery Tongue (which displays quite a range). One of my all time faves is probably Entities, from their last album. Hopefully if you hear more, you’ll start to see why they have some really enthusiastic fans. Happy listening! 🤘🏼

Yep, you're right about Vintersea - the vocal execution was very deliberate, as it fits that section of the story being told by this album. This is definitely their softest song, so, given how you describe your preferences for vocals, I feel like you might enjoy the video for Fiery Tongue more.

I don't want to repeat again what has been already said about VIntersea here, I've gotta add Skies Set Ablaze - this is a really underrated song of theirs, and its vocals are definitely much more in the focus (plus the growl range showcased in it is pretty nice - from some low growls, to fry screams)

With Vintersea.. you have to think of the vocals as another instrument. I think that on this song they used her voice to weave some of the melodies together. It took me a few songs to get a understanding of what they did on this song, on others her vocals are much more forward and on quite a few they have almost a instrumental going on, but in the background you can hear her voice singing the melody.. but I have quite a bit of hearing loss so there may be actual words but with my hearing loss in quite a few frequency ranges it's hard for me to be sure...lol but they definitely grew on me.
    Sorry for the ramble.
