The way they just jump back to the kid being a baby again and the dad carrying him out gets me every time makes me ball
At the start of the song Zach sings (He's betting on the eight ball landing in the side wall) and at the end you can see that again when his son called it the shot and purposely did the slop shot, instead of well landing in the side wall. idk i thought it was a cool detail that Zach always seems to drive home in songs at the start and endings.

Why did the kid miss the shot on purpose? Was he sick of the games and he wanted his Dad to stop betting on him? Or was he working with the other guys?
I don’t get it cause he had his Dad’s back and he helped him fight so they were aligned….but yet he missed the shot
And whatever happened Matthew understood….hence him saying “that’s my boy”
@@davidaldridge5716probably the former. He mentions through the song wanting to do things that his dad won’t do he wants to go fishing but his dad wants to go to the bar

That's a great catch. Also really highlights how, as a parent, in the blink of an eye while you're concentrating on the wrong things, your kid transforms on front of you. But you don't notice - you haven't changed.
I interpreted it like the dad was just a drunkard betting on his son and because he was taking him into the bar forcing him to do that he was forcing him to grow up fast which is why the dad never changed but the kid did and he just got more and more grown up. Then at the end it shows them walking out and he's still just a little kid.

I was young learning to play pool with my dad at the local dive bar. Never realized he was just a drunk taking me so he could get drunk and "teach me how to play " with his friends till a few years later lol. This song always hits home for me, and I'm so glad you did this review 👍

I apologize for how many of your videos I have commented on tonight. I have been watching your Zach Bryan playlist nonstop. He's my favorite artist. His songs are all masterpieces. Why i find so many of them relatable beats me haha. But you are one heck of a music talent, man. I love how your ear can pick up anything, and your mind can pick up every story that Zach writes in these songs. Honestly, there are few songs I've listened to that are as powerful as Zach Bryan's. The man truly sings from his heart.

Every one of them goes into such a deep and powerful message or story or one of his life experiences. He pours himself and his heart into his songs.

My interpretation of this video- I think the scene where he hits the ball in, wasn't that supposed to be a trick shot ( instead of a slop shot? It works either way.) and everyone realizes they've been hustled?
I saw this video and thought the child was pretending to be a vulnerable young player that's inexperienced as opposed to being really good, the other players the kid beat, under the guise of a child that doesn't understand the game- is viewed as an easy win, beginners luck, or fast money. I'm sure the boy played careful not to expose the dynamic of the hustling scheme with Dad. That is, up to the point when the child realizes he wants no part in this lifestyle when he sees it for what it is. He sees his father making an ass of himself, being a bad winner, and pissing off the players that have lost. The boy decides to show his skill on that shot exposing the truth. The onlookers then realize his father is hustling them and using his son's youth as a way to lure the other players to play the boy- raising the steaks and dropping their guard. They probably felt cheated. Especially the bookie. He was probably angry that the dad took money out of his pocket. The sad thing is the only one that gets 'taken' or screwed in the situation is the kid. He misses out on a regular childhood and a healthy father/son relationship.
