Starting off with the zoning is so much better of a format than other guides out there going through each button individually even if there's not much noteworthy about it. I love it, especially for a character like Baby who is defined by his archetype and gameplan. It gives me all the info that I'm watching a guide to find out, without the fluff or harder to swallow presentation.
thank you! When coming up with this guide I actually had the idea of going directly into how he should be played, rather than listing his basic actions. I'm really glad it's been received well!
Thank you SOOOO much Mister Acolyte! This guide has been extremely helpful with teaching my friend who's been wanting to learn Super Baby as well. Although I have months of experience I just couldn't explain the gameplay style you get with baby that new players could easily learn but you explained it amazingly. He's noticeably shown some progress after watching the zoning section of this guide (I even learned a couple things thanks to this guide!). Thank you so much :D
This guide made me go from "how tf do you even play this character" to actually enjoying playing him and having fun, even if I still mess up some of the combos.
Watched the both of your baby guides when they released, just wanted to thank you aco, you made me realize how cool he is and how fun it is to just not allow the opponent to play the game.
I'm late to the party, but great fckng guide, bro. The format just resonates with me. Before I saw this, learning sb2 was hella intimidating. This guide helped me pick him up with no problem. Giving the combo "recipe" before adding the extensions and enders was brilliant. All character guides should follow this format. Thank u much.
Finally I literally have been doing old routes ever since you released that last vid and I never labbed the new combos felt a little behind in the times for a while thanks for the new vid 👍
Your first guide is the reason I was able to pick up baby after dropping him because he felt weird. Now I can barely play without him. Really good guide. Wish there were more like these
I gotta say, this video is perfectly made I love it. When I learn dbfz combos, I never try to learn the whole combo at once, I learn it in sections. The fact that you take the time to split each combo up and explain exactly what is going on is perfect and very easy to understand what is going on.
I gave in and picked the game back up, and haven't really gotten caught up on Baby since the last patch. This is the exact guide i was hoping for, from the exact person I wanted it from. Thanks Aco.
Thx for the guide. Personally I only need to watch Loops/combos to learn them, no need to listen to explanations but still, loved this. there was a lot of stuff I needed to know about my main!
I'm picking up this game again due to rollback and was looking into a potential anchor to complete my Gogeta 4 and Hit around. Baby deff seems interesting with his C assist... thank you so much for the guide. Character seems super fun and complex
Been Maining Nappa for long, but wanted a good long assist for saibaman setups, and a way to tag into him easy. Baby is perfect for my team and I always wanted to learn baby. His 6H if blocked let’s me get a full saibaman setup into a cross up in corner. Great guide!
Muchas gracias bro la guía esta muy bien detallada y my tiene todo lo que se necesita para jugar bien al el baby, no he visto ningún comentario en español entonces te dejo este/Thank you very much bro the guide is very well detailed and my has everything you need to play well at the baby, I haven't seen any comments in Spanish so I leave you this one.
For corner beam loops, if you delay the first beam after your initial 5H you don't get pushed back as far with the subsequent beams making it possible to hit a 5L right after landing the second beam. You can then jump cancel your 5L and go into combo extension while keeping super dash. Hard to get timing down exactly at first but it's doable. I use a combo using this method to solo TOD with baby if he's my final character.
Its really hard for me to sit and actually learn a characters breakdown because i often get bored or distracted by doing combos but ill do my best with this info😂
So, wait. The whole thing with Baby's 5S and his zoning is that it pressures the opponent by building a lot of meter and creates a sense of urgency. Thing is, a lot of this actually loses to Ki-Charge, which is a free way for the opponent to deny Baby getting any meter, while gaining a lot of meter themselves. This is a much more patient option than superdash, too. And it's actually safe against everything Baby has from fullscreen EXCEPT for 6H. It's directionless and can be done out of block against Ki-Blasts. Same with a properly timed reflect, even if you just hit it after the first or second Ki-Blast, it makes Baby -2 and allows you to call your assists. This also stops Baby from gaining meter, and also gives you a lot of meter. Thing is, reflect works against everything, but it a lot less safe than Ki-Charge if it doesn't reflect anything. Difference of 11 frames, which is pretty significant. Both of these put you into meter advantage, though Ki-Charge looks to be much safer than reflect if you're trying to use it as a prediction or for attacks that are behind you. And both of them allow you to use assists after. Ki-Charge can be beat on reaction with 6H, and beam with prediction from j.S. Grounded, Baby has to be looking out for these Ki-Charges alongside Reflect and Superdash, and he might be trying to 2H you. He actually doesn't get a meter benefit without comboing off of it, and it's a weaker starter than 2H is. I think it's good if you think Baby is expecting you to superdash and wants to 2H punish you, so using a ki-charge might be good to fake him out if they're looking for the colored superdash trail and trying to 2H you. With j.S, the mindgame is a bit different, because their winning option is now beam due to it's increased speed. But this is a bit more in favor of Ki-Charge, because beam will be much harder to make come out on reaction. Plus, they're only going to HAVE beam as an option if Baby is close to the ground, so if you're successful with Ki-Charging and they don't beam, then you can use it to punish them with a Dragon Rush while they're in lag.
You never use the CPU as an example. The cpu in any fighting game is not playing the game, it's reading your inputs. No human is going to perfectly react to things the way they do. Not only that, all fighting game interactions are RPS at all moments. When you hit a level 3 and go for a mix up, it is never guaranteed. It's simply a situation where the odds are more in your favor, Baby's zoning is the same way. Once it gets started, the opponent must take risks to get out of it. Gaining meter while Zoning is only one aspect of why his zoning is strong. The real strength of it is how much it limits the opponents safe options from full screen. The reason you never see anyone ki charging against baby at high level is because it's incredibly risky. 6H is unreactable and can be chained into from 5S. There's never a moment where it isn't a threat.
@@MisterAcolyte Makes sense! I feel kinda sorry for the ki-charging mechanic, considering how much the devs keep buffing it yet it's never viable. I always keep trying to look for some niche application, cause it feels like there might be some beyond dragon rushes in some C-assist combos, yet can't find any.
Baby loves ranged assists! Especially beam property, helps a lot with his zoning. He has synergy with every character due to his 6H, and self-sustained nature.
Son, I was literally looking at your old baby guide and was worried because it was outdated. Good work as always!
You’re his dad?
@@TheSebastianSykesi was thinking the same😂." son" like what?
Same!

Hey thanks for the video I wanted to learn about baby this just helped me a lot. Thanks again.
Your first guide is the reason I was able to pick up baby after dropping him because he felt weird. Now I can barely play without him. Really good guide. Wish there were more like these
thank you for the amazing guide!! not enough good ones out especially for a character as unique as baby

Been waiting for this, thanks aco
I don't even play SB2 but this is golden.
I need to become more analytical in the characters I play. Your insights are great

The way you explain the parts that make up the charackter and then put it together is really helpful. Gonna pick Baby up again.
...and now i have no excuse to not experiment with Baby. I was *just* getting a handle on Z Broly, curses Aco! 😂
Probably the best dbfz guide i found good job

Also, removing opponent's options seems like it's the part of this character I'd enjoy. I'm always a fan of that sort of playstyle in PVP games.
good video
Maybe i missed it but does 1s after corner dr still a good oki?
Zamasu guide next? 👀
During the part where you talk about cross ups, are you able to cancel cross up JL into JM to get a double overhead and grounded cross up confirm?
Faced 3 babys And I’m rockin master roshi! So I def gotta figure out this character. Too Bigga buttons on this zoned
roshi is a tough character for baby to zone because of his leap!
What about his down L ender in the air?
you can use that ender any time you do a very short and simple combo. Normally wont work if you do any kind of loop or rejump.
I hate how I can see how bad my play style is and how others can read it so easily now
Then there's the ones who just mash it out or spam that one good move like blue vegeta or gt goku
my brother his is a COMPREHENSIVE guide . thank you
glad I could help!
I keep dropping the 5S after double corner beam, any advice?
don’t do it. just do SD after it and go into jS whiff into loops. or you can do run up 5L
Anyone know any good teams with Super Baby who have good synergy with Baby. Asking for teams other than the one Aco uses.
Baby loves ranged assists! Especially beam property, helps a lot with his zoning. He has synergy with every character due to his 6H, and self-sustained nature.
Great guide but I think you skipped his assist.😢
no I didn't.

If Baby could SD after j.S, I'd play him.
you can just do jS 236S? lol
Thank you very much, I can now destroy my friend :)
