there was a time when i would pwn on pubs with puppet and was my favourite. but i never got to use him at full potential. especially puppet show. this guide really kicks ass and the puppet show + ulti is the awesomest trick ever :D kudos to nigma
I think a nice combo is, when you go invis with shroud near an enemy and do ulti + puppet show. Then the enemy will attack your ulti and harm yourself, while you attack him. After puppet show is over you use hold and have another 4 seconds to kill him if he survived.
Awesome guide, it's definitely as good as the premium guides on Heroes of Newerth -forums. In my opinion it's even better than most of them. Subscribed, keep making more videos. Your work is appreciated.
Nice guide! I like how you had the guts to say there aren't any "perfect builds". So many guides are convinced they have the one and only way to play a hero. Funny thing is, that attitude discredits their whole guide imho.
since crit stack with whiplash you can get 1600~ crits with a riftshard alone, that plus a harkonblade and you pretty much 2shot everyone in your way. so id say its very possible to carry an entire team. :)
@coxtrox that is incorrect, although i migthve been true when you wrote it, it now works in the way that it prioritizes between the closest targets, enemy heroes > enemy creeps > friendly heroes/creeps (idk which of the latter are on 3rd and 4th)
Post 2: Now, combining this, with that fact that Puppet Show is made in the way that hits can not kill their target, making an enemy hero attack the Voodoo Puppet will cause him to hit the puppet without killing it, although transferring the full damage to the hero as long as the Puppet Show lasts. Another tip is in even 1v1 fights, if both heroes are low I recommend saving Puppet Show until you are a couple of hits away from dying, because the enemy hero will then keep getting you down to 1 hp
Harkon's Blade is insanely powerful on puppet. It's almost broken, you could say. The debuff basically makes you damage 3x your normal. Combined with whiplash, I don't even need to say. A perfect counter to jereziah if a bit farmed.
if u get the attack speed it lets u use ur whiplash thing faster. charged hammer gives u the most attack speed in the game and chain lightning. i forgot to say get shield breaker and for life steal try and go for symbol of rage for survivability. when u get that u can 1v1 any hero obviously u wont go 1v5 so survivablility is not that necessary
HoN homepage says that: Applies Crazy Puppet to target for 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 seconds. Any unit with Crazy Puppet active on them will be forced to attack enemy heroes first, then enemy creeps, then all units last.
Helm let's you stack ancients plus the armor and damage, and the shroud is great for mobility, survivability, and the extra damage out of invis stacks with whiplash making puppet the amazing Swiss army knife that he can be. And alchemy bones can be a good choice depending on the situation
Looking at this video just in case the new Dota hero is similar lol Great narration and script, man. For such a small and old channel I'm impressed at how good this is even if the guide is completely useless at this point.
hellflower is awesome: 30 Attackspeed 40 damage 20int = +20dmg,more mana and reg and activate effect: Use hellflower on enemy. He is silenced cant stun or use escape skills Use Ulti kill puppet enemy will receive the dmg puppet gets + the debuff of Hellflower that is rly hard and good for killing tanks while this combo u can use ure other skills to stop him running away and so on good guides learnt some things i didnt knew
Something you should have added as an advanced strat would be combining his ult with puppet show when the ult is low and not killing the ult. This causes them to dmg themselves even more and not kill the puppet themselves, dealing infinite more damage based on the enemy's attck dmg/speed as long as the puppet doesn't die.
Post 1: I know this is a very late reply, but you have missed out on one of the MOST IMPORTANT features about Puppet Master's combination of skills. Reading the description on his ultimate, the Voodoo Puppet, it says that the Puppet always transfers full damage dealt to the target of the spell. This means that if the Voodoo Puppet has 100 health and you hit it with a 400 damage Whiplash, not only does it deal the 400 damage, it deals 270% or whatever of that damage
subbed. awesome job on your videos so far. was going to start work on my own, but you have it quite well covered all around. thanks for your work for the community. again, awesome job man.
dont get boots first movement speed is not needed right at the start. u can just disable them. u get bottle, then enhanced marchers. then start building a charged hammer for attack speed and that bonus lightning. then get life steal and crit and its gg.
if you use codex on puppet.youd like it.also that lighting hand/lightning hammer.you can hit multiple times using the electric things.and use codex for your vodoo puppet that will kill them
Steamboots-whispering helm-shroud is really the best balance of core items, I've yet to find a build that works better. The steamboots give much needed stats, the whisp he
eldar has lifesteal, charged hammer doesn't. Plus, eldar is cheaper, so I can get it earlier so I can put it to good use. By the time I farm enough gold for a charged hammer, everyone else would have better items.
Great guide there! Though I do suggest getting Charged hammer after getting shroud and e-marchers mostly because the procs combined with a maxed out whiplash can dish out an easy 700 damage, plus the attack speed will help out proc for whiplash and trigger lightning, its charged up buff is also great when you have an initiator like maliken or legion. They will target them most likely and probably kill themselves doing so. Otherwise, excellent guide! Do more :D
Elder gives you 100+ attack speed and 20% movespeed. And if you get a charged hammer by the time oyu have crit gear for whiplash to work well games almost over.
That was actually really,r eally good. THat's how I use to play Puppet, although I max Whiplash and Show asap, then puppet and hold. As for items...it's really situational :D
Wow, a great guide there! Might aswell be one of the best guides so far (maybe not better than the magmus video guide though) But I wondered why you didnt mention that puppet show's attack are non-lethal, you can basicly make the ultimate do alot more damage if you're doing it against a carry with alot of dps but low hp (like a scout who just came out of vanish) because he won't kill the puppet, but he will kill himself if he manages to do enough damage before the show is over :)
i was wondering if you can answer a question for me. i've only played this hero three times (the first time to learn him, the second time 15-0, third time 14-3-22). both of the second times i went pretty much the same build. i went radiance and shivas guard (w/e they are called in HoN i don't remember). i did this because i thought i can deal damage to both the enemy and the puppet, dealing tons more damage. is this true or should i change my build?
enhanced marchers > elder parasite > thunderclaw > charged hammer > symbol of rage = win :D just stay passive and dont die and gank alot and u will win the game for sure ;)
I build puppet a little differently, though as a hard carry. My items are: -phase boots -alch bones -whispering helm (Symbol of rage) -thunder hammer -arkon's -savage This seems to work really well for me. I have on the life steal as normal, and then turn on and off arkons in team fights. Turning 300-400 damage into magic damage can roll an entire team. That my build, what do ya'll think about it?
Great guide. At first i though it would be a waste of time (since my favourite is Puppet too :D), but I actually learned something. Especially the neat tricks with the Ultimate. And we have the same itembuilds lol. :D
Is this still in Beta or not? cause it sounds like some guys have been at it for a while... I've played DotA since the beginning and this looks awesome! LoL sounds cool too but doesn't feel like DotA.
Thank you man, for video tutorial, you help me a lot, now I know much more than before, the heroplay of Puppet Master, i like him, but before i don't play a lot with him, i think i just played 3 times with him xD Now i'll pratice thinking on this video, thank you so much, you share your knowledge, this is all we should do! Good lucky!
Rather than killing you, giving you the time to finish him off or pop your Assassin's Shroud to get away if you have that as a part of your inventory stash. I hope my feedback has helped, and I know the video is outdated as it says, but what I've mentioned is up to date as far as I know, and for those who stopped playing HoN now that it went retail; What the hell are you thinking? Get your credit card and come back ;)
wouldnt the helm of dim from dota the one were u have life steal and can control a creep be good so that u can do the puppet hold where there has to be a creep around...... havnt played the game yet but seems fun since i do play dota alot
wow "attack speed is key to getting more whiplash procs" it's better to just get damage and keep your whiplash counter low when you're going to fight heroes
Who's here from Dota Ringmaster reveal!!
This guy is fast
Well, we have to see the skills 😂
This hero is same in ring master?
All skills look similar to this i can say
Nah, here since 2012. Dota2 will never be as good as HoN😢
holy crap this video takes me back
there was a time when i would pwn on pubs with puppet and was my favourite. but i never got to use him at full potential. especially puppet show.
this guide really kicks ass and the puppet show + ulti is the awesomest trick ever :D
kudos to nigma
I'M HERE BECAUSE OF THE ALIANCE SUGGESTION.
I think a nice combo is, when you go invis with shroud near an enemy and do ulti + puppet show. Then the enemy will attack your ulti and harm yourself, while you attack him. After puppet show is over you use hold and have another 4 seconds to kill him if he survived.
Puppet is such a brilliantly designed hero.
17 kills and 2 deaths in my first game after watching this. Well done sir.
12 years ago lol
Remembering Puppet Master today. RIP
Same here always pops up in my shower thoughts
Just like your MOM. Let’s keep the HoN community toxic boys. Let ur mom know I HOLLA’d . past tense done and done
RIP HoN. This was my favorite hero
Awesome guide, it's definitely as good as the premium guides on Heroes of Newerth -forums.
In my opinion it's even better than most of them.
Subscribed, keep making more videos.
Your work is appreciated.
@AnimeOtakun The carry is the role on the team that brings all the damage lategame. Its the killer of your team.
Nice guide! I like how you had the guts to say there aren't any "perfect builds". So many guides are convinced they have the one and only way to play a hero. Funny thing is, that attitude discredits their whole guide imho.
IM HERE COZ OF DOTA RINGMASTER
since crit stack with whiplash you can get 1600~ crits with a riftshard alone, that plus a harkonblade and you pretty much 2shot everyone in your way. so id say its very possible to carry an entire team. :)

Coolest original hero HoN ever made
Helm let's you stack ancients plus the armor and damage, and the shroud is great for mobility, survivability, and the extra damage out of invis stacks with whiplash making puppet the amazing Swiss army knife that he can be. And alchemy bones can be a good choice depending on the situation
I didn't play HoN when this video was created, But nowadays puppet master can be chosen as your team's only carry.
Looking at this video just in case the new Dota hero is similar lol
Great narration and script, man. For such a small and old channel I'm impressed at how good this is even if the guide is completely useless at this point.
hellflower is awesome:
30 Attackspeed

I'm here because of the New dota 2 hero Ringmaster. Comparing both
Always wanted to play him, now I have a some idea of what I'm meant to be doing. Cheers.

Puppetmaster is actually one, if not the only, of FEW (100%) S2 made heroes that I like.
Use this if you come from Dota 2 TI 2023.
I miss this.
LOL Your guides are the best. What font are you using when indicating Carry, support etc..?
Note that you do also get 30% more dmg taken.
Hello im dota 2 player from future
subbed. awesome job on your videos so far. was going to start work on my own, but you have it quite well covered all around. thanks for your work for the community. again, awesome job man.
skills look great, great looks too
dont get boots first movement speed is not needed right at the start. u can just disable them. u get bottle, then enhanced marchers. then start building a charged hammer for attack speed and that bonus lightning. then get life steal and crit and its gg.
I cant wait for other guides !
Thanks !
this is actually the sickest guide ever, i tried it and I fucking pwned!! thanks Nigma, make more please
if you use codex on puppet.youd like it.also that lighting hand/lightning hammer.you can hit multiple times using the electric things.and use codex for your vodoo puppet that will kill them

i played hon for like 3 months now and my psr is 1732 but i still miss the feeling of dota
wow seriously the best guide i have ever watched. propz bro!
eldar has lifesteal, charged hammer doesn't. Plus, eldar is cheaper, so I can get it earlier so I can put it to good use. By the time I farm enough gold for a charged hammer, everyone else would have better items.

@NotNamedName It was in practice mode and they were both on the same team.
Elder gives you 100+ attack speed and 20% movespeed.
And if you get a charged hammer by the time oyu have crit gear for whiplash to work well games almost over.
The Ringmasterrrrr
harkon blade was made for this hero changes your dmg into magic dmg and lowers the magic resistince
That was actually really,r eally good.
THat's how I use to play Puppet, although I max Whiplash and Show asap, then puppet and hold.
As for items...it's really situational :D
welcome to dota 2 ring master
this is really great and you gave me an idea how to use him.. thanks
Observation wards. Supplies store for 200g you get 2 wards that last 6 minutes. Awesome.
Wow, a great guide there!
Might aswell be one of the best guides so far (maybe not better than the magmus video guide though)
But I wondered why you didnt mention that puppet show's attack are non-lethal, you can basicly make the ultimate do alot more damage if you're doing it against a carry with alot of dps but low hp (like a scout who just came out of vanish) because he won't kill the puppet, but he will kill himself if he manages to do enough damage before the show is over :)
@Nolazorify Not sure if you figured this out yet or not, but that was the old version of the frostbrand.
so alot of people dont realize that ult and puppet show is a combo? lol. shudve crossed their mind first time they read the description
sorry. carry's are the heroes who depends on items :)
some nice tricks i never thought of :D
Puppet Master's ultimate should be attacked by the highest damage dealer on the team.
i was wondering if you can answer a question for me. i've only played this hero three times (the first time to learn him, the second time 15-0, third time 14-3-22). both of the second times i went pretty much the same build. i went radiance and shivas guard (w/e they are called in HoN i don't remember). i did this because i thought i can deal damage to both the enemy and the puppet, dealing tons more damage. is this true or should i change my build?
all these hon vids are great ! especially this vid ! keep up the good work!
is this the Ring Master in Dota 2 ?
It's fun having teammates kill each other with Puppet Show
enhanced marchers > elder parasite > thunderclaw > charged hammer > symbol of rage = win :D just stay passive and dont die and gank alot and u will win the game for sure ;)
Awesome dude, thanks! Puppet is also my favorite hero. Great vid man.
Ringmaster pog
HE IS CAPABLE OR CARRYING THE ENTIRE TEAM ON HES OWN
I build puppet a little differently, though as a hard carry.
My items are:
-phase boots
-alch bones
-whispering helm (Symbol of rage)
-thunder hammer
-arkon's
-savage
This seems to work really well for me. I have on the life steal as normal, and then turn on and off arkons in team fights. Turning 300-400 damage into magic damage can roll an entire team. That my build, what do ya'll think about it?
very good guide, thanks!
Great Guide
@playerb394 it's newerth, not new earth (although there's a pretty good chance the developers came up with the name that way :D)
LoL sounds cool too but doesn't feel like DotA.
now this is what we called a wise youtuber who is not waste youtube space for nothing!
Thank you man, for video tutorial, you help me a lot, now I know much more than before, the heroplay of Puppet Master, i like him, but before i don't play a lot with him, i think i just played 3 times with him xD
Now i'll pratice thinking on this video, thank you so much, you share your knowledge, this is all we should do!
Good lucky!
hon is so reall !
dude what's the most effective item build for puppet? he seems like a fun hero to use. ^^
Looks really cool, keep up these vids!
Nymphs ult has superior magic also :)
ooh now i understnd the ulti !!!
Witch slayer and doctor repulsor. Disablers that can carry.
so its not like dota you don't counter item? hon is force item on heros?
HoN was a great game but it got to boring in the long run for me but the year i played it, it was really fun . Puppet master was my fav hero
the q item was just the frostbrand. frostburn was the s item
Hey did they take down the forum or something, i can;t seem to find an official one...
RIP HoN
lol, msn sound @ 03:31
@Albino Professional youtube idiot
the creeps not going to do much trust me in the time you take to control that creep you'd dish out more damage
NOONE IS HERE AFTER RING MASTER
is it ok to go geometer's bane with harkon's blade?? With this hero???
lol Whiplash (skill) is a song of MetallicA too
but when u lane against madman or any invis hero, i would go for craze puppet before hold : D
at 3.32 was confuzed coz got no message from msn xD then i realized its in the video xD
Nice Vid
Does riftshard stack with the wiplash crit ?
What about Chronos? Isnt he a disabler/carry? :)
wow "attack speed is key to getting more whiplash procs"
it's better to just get damage and keep your whiplash counter low when you're going to fight heroes
@MrAndrej2 if he was pro he would know puppet master played right CAN carry a whole team but this guide is old so i dont blame anything on him
Nigma, are you from Sweden?
