You would be lost souls for sure LOL i.e. who's going to do my laundry, buy the food, cook the meals, take care of the kids, the list is longggggg. Great comment Earl!!!
A cabin weekend with Sarah and Beatrice always seems so much more productive and relaxing at the same time. You need a few more of these in 2023. As for the solar sceptics... yeah sure, the sun is a 6 billion year energy myth (you keep doing you, seems pretty much working to me.)
For a while, when I was temporarily financially embarrassed, I was without electricity. Some dear, sweet soul bought me a battery and 3 tiny solar panels. It came with long cords with built-in LED bulbs. It also provided a slot for me to charge my phone and NOAA radio. I no longer have much of a money problem and do have power. The reason my bill is fairly reasonable is that I still use the panels! God bless that man. I will need to replace the battery, but it lasted a long time. Solar not work? My ever lovin' left high-heel it doesn't work!! They are addlepaited tweets! Totally unworth of attention. 🕊✨️ Hello, lovely Sarah! Good to see the whole family at the cabin! Blessings on you all!
Mike, thanks for not being afraid to show your viewers when you make a mistake! It’s one the things I really appreciate about your videos. Can’t wait to see an update on the progress of your new shop!
@A Cabin and 50 Acres Plenty of mistakes to choose from?!? Are you by any chance of Scottish decent, cause we must be related somewhere along the line!
Hey there from Melbourne, Australia! You guys rock. You really do. Your honesty about not being motivated is a heart felt recognition of who we are as animals that have ups and downs. You have achieved so much and are to be lauded for what you’ve done. And you are keeping on doing things in spite of lack of energy. Etc. You are ok and a video every month is fine. As I’ve said, you have achieved so much and are still an inspiration to all of us about keeping on going no matter what. Because sometime you need to just sit back and revel in what you have achieved. Well done and thank you immensely.
It’s funny to hear what people‘s definition of off grid is. I just had one person tell me I’m not off grid because I abide by government codes,😂. Don’t worry about the trolls. You’re doing a great job. Your channel is one of the few that has good quality information, keep up the great work.
I started watching this and I thought "No way!" and then I was taken aback and I thought "I am not seeing what I am seeing". I looked again and yes, it was true. In absolute freezing weather, he was having M'Lady burn scraps of wet wood... doing manual chores! I couldn't believe it. Then the next shot was M'Lady wiping off and cleaning the kitchen table. Then, after an entire morning of all that physical hard work, the poor thing wanted a potato chip for her lunch and this beast told her to put them back! Thanks for the video. It was nice to see you both well and doing fine. Your dog has a beautiful coat on her and looked so warm laying there.
lol, Sarah is a pyromaniac she loves burning stuff. If left unsupervised she will feed the stove and before you know it we'll be sweating it out at 85 degrees!
Hey Mike - Thanks for taking the time to post for us. And thanks a bunch for posting all the truth of tackling tasks and hanging toilet paper at your cabin. You help make my hubby, Tom, and me feel better about all the stupid screwups we still do! Just did a 1-inch screwup today cutting baseboards out of our very-limited leftover cherry flooring. (And please just ignore the igmos and their caca-commentary. 😉)
Loved Sarah’s comments there! You got quite some stuff done, looking good! Take your time, don’t feel rushed in making videos, especially when not feeling too well. Take care, thanks for yet another fun one.
Building material, wonderful and well chosen. The colors are exquisite. Perfect workmanship with a beautiful helper. You can build houses for the rest of your life with this woman. Congratulations.
Thanks Mike and Sarah, it’s kind of refreshing to see a UA-camr not addicted to making videos. Look I get why they do it but some of them go to the extreme. Like videoing your daughter’s wedding, and putting that on UA-cam! Shouldn’t that be a private thing? Anyway I haven’t watched much of that UA-camr anymore! To a lot of them it’s all about the money! I really don’t think you and your wife feel that way. I enjoy your videos and like your cabin take care a have a good week. From Northwestern Vermont
Thank you Darcy, yea seems like a lot of channels will just pump out content about anything good video or bad. What I don't understand is why it keeps working.
Completely understood about being busy. I really enjoy coming along to your cabin whenever you have time to make vids. Looking forward to the next one.
Great place, Mike! I have enjoyed watching the journey. About "off grid", I have noticed that some people read far too much into that term. You got it right. Others take it to mean, "absolutely independent from all of society, (no grid power, no municipal water or sewer), growing their own cotton, making thread, making fabric, making clothes, and so on" -- doing everything the hardest way possible, it seems. I ignore them. Maybe they'll come around, maybe not. When I say "off grid", what I really mean is, "off grid". ;-)
Yeah, I dunno... people say the darndest things in the comments. Strange. But eh... just do what you do and pay no mind to it. Love your videos, Mike. Always have, and always will, because they're you and Sarah and Bea, and we love you.
Hey there! So nice to see you all again...lovely family! And I'm just so happy to see all the beauty you have created with your build - truly gorgeous! Thanks for this!
Love you videos! and that cabin!!! When you made the measuring error I thought 'Life Uncontained' would totally empathize! Don't ever finish shingling KEEP up the suspense! Take Care!
"Good from far; far from good." Clever line. 🙂 Love those shades, especially how they don't cover up all your beautiful trim work. Hope the shop/air b&b project is also going well. Thanks for the video. Great seeing y'all!
I just checked last night to see if you had any new videos I had missed. Then this morning...BOOM! Thanks for another video and including the First Bank of Sarah in your video...she is too funny!!! Who knew, a banker with a sense of humor...LOL!!! Love it! Be well!!!!
As we used to say when I was installing freeway billboards back the day: "They'll never see that from the road at 65 miles an hour." Trim looks great, nobody will ever know you made an error unless you tell them. But of course you already have 😉.
Greetings from Colorado. We got a pretty good deal here. You record and post videos, we watch them. It doesn't matter how frequently you post we will still be hanging around waiting to watch. The cabin looks wonderful. We added grid tied solar panels to our home last year, we love it. Now we don't have much of an electric bill these day and at the end of the year we get paid for the extra electricity we produced. Sarah is fun, you should bring her along more often. Thank all three of you for taking the time to share with us.
@@50Acres Thanks. The grid tied solar panel system depends on your state and local utility programs. Here in Colorado it seems that everyone wants to work together. I certainly enjoy watching your channel.
Love the blinds and wow you better have a head light at night if you want to find the kitchen or the bathroom LOL. Great job you two and loved your wife's funny responses. God's Blessings.
It was really good to see the three of you again. The cabin looks cozy as ever. Don't think twice about comments on the grid/off grid naysayers, you know the work you have done. You have every reason to be proud of what you have accomplished. Take some time to enjoy it. It's going to be a great new year. I'm telling everybody. Pass it on. Best to all!
Always remember no matter what you doing, there will always be people there know better, maybe because of jealousy. I find your videos very interesting to follow. Thank you for sharing your journey. God bless you and your family.
Some people seem like they just don’t want people to Be happy!!! Hope your New Years has started great!!!! Missed your videos drinking my coffee this morning got alert showing new video … had to hop on and start watching immediately!!! Stay healthy…stay positive the world needs it!!!
I was thinking that's how you know you're doing good when the "trolls" come after you! The people who really matter know the truth. That's all that actually matters!
Loving the little projects. Seems that you got several things checked off your list. Having Sarah there to help you and to provide her take on things...priceless!
Love the channel and cabin build 👌. Sarah's commentary was hilarious, and I've never heard that saying, "good from far, far from good" , but I like it ! I'm using it from now on . And don't pay attention to the naysayers. Keep up the great work !
I have watched you since starting your cabin. At first - I thought - this guy is a perfectionist but as time passed and I saw more vids - I have since started seeing you as more a damn good workman that takes pride in what he does. If you dont know how - you research and study til you know and then run and tackle the job and do it right. I believe you do everythoing as in like your profession that way. Happy New Year to you as well. My pleasure. Have fun building your cabin. One thing I'd suggest based on my own experience is seeing if you can't rent a mini ex and doing a simple crawlspace.
Love how this cabin has been progressing. Sarah provides much interesting banter to keep it light. I'm only watching cabin updates not shop stuff but I am learning alot. Place is really a nice cool unique spot almost art. Enjoy your down time there.

Don't worry about elegance. As long as it is practical.that is what matters . Happy new year you both..wish that all is smooth sailing and good health and wealth for years to come.
Don’t even waste a second on those idiots, you know and we know, that’s all that matters. The window coverings look nice, perfect color and a shade is the way to go. Absolutely love Sarah’s sense of humor!
Great job on doing the misc tasks! Glad you and Sarah got to spend some time together at the cabin. Keep up the good work! Long time no see (vids) Happy New Year!! Take care and see you in the next one.
You sound exhausted and seriously demotivated. Must have been one heck of an effort to get this video done. I appreciate you, for still doing it despite whatever ails you or is otherwise going on. Hang in there buddy, hope you're in good health (or getting back there) and don't let the solar-does-not-work-trolls get to you. You just do you and enjoy life as you go! Cheers mate!
happy to see a new video, had been wondering if it was just the holidays or what. keep at it when you feel up to it man, can't wait to see when you are done with it all! :)
👍 Good to see you guys. Next time when you run into that window frame situation or similar, always go with modifying the smaller frame instead if possible. It's a mind/visual thing.
Good to find you at the cabin again. Hope to get up to one of the monthly art shows in the coming months. Even the best can measure wrong makes me feel more comfortable. We're all human thanks for sharing.
I just stumbled upon these cabin videos and just have to say that I love this project. I wish I could do these sort of things, but I'll just admire your work from afar. Good luck with the rest of the build!
Solar doesn't work!!!! LOL JK, well it doesn't work in Northern Michigan where the sun has been absent since October Ha Ha. Really Enjoyed the Video Mike, nice to See you and Sarah spending some quality time at the cabin. The relaxed vibe of the video was nice.
You don't owe us anything but i'm always happy to see a new video! You worked hard enough on that place to just enjoy it. What's the point of a cabin if every trip there turns into an obligation. :)
Watch out for skunks and other critters that set up their home under your beautiful cabin. My family learned this lesson when I was a child from a smelly experience while on vacation in Colorado. It made an indelible impression on my young nose.
Nos gusta veros por aquí y saber que todo marcha bien y solo estáis con mucho trabajo, habrá tiempo de ver más vídeos. Saludos y muchos ánimos para este nuevo año 🙂

consider it a treat when you do post! Wishing you three a wonderful new year! --Hugs 🤗
Thanks Wanda, have a great year!
Don't worry about elegance. As long as it is practical.that is what matters .
Happy new year you both..wish that all is smooth sailing and good health and wealth for years to come.
Thank you! Same to you!
Don’t even waste a second on those idiots, you know and we know, that’s all that matters. The window coverings look nice, perfect color and a shade is the way to go. Absolutely love Sarah’s sense of humor!
Nah I won't, thank you!
Great job on doing the misc tasks! Glad you and Sarah got to spend some time together at the cabin. Keep up the good work! Long time no see (vids) Happy New Year!! Take care and see you in the next one.
Thanks, you too!
love the commentary on over/under and agree completely.
haha!
Great to see both of you !
Same to you!
Thanks I appreciate that
The place looks fantastic. Good seeing you guys.
Thanks for watching!
happy to see a new video, had been wondering if it was just the holidays or what. keep at it when you feel up to it man, can't wait to see when you are done with it all! :)
Thank you, I'll keep making videos, I'm just not able to keep a consistent schedule.
👍 Good to see you guys. Next time when you run into that window frame situation or similar, always go with modifying the smaller frame instead if possible. It's a mind/visual thing.
Thanks for the tip!
Good to find you at the cabin again. Hope to get up to one of the monthly art shows in the coming months. Even the best can measure wrong makes me feel more comfortable. We're all human thanks for sharing.
Thanks Harold. At front Street there is almost always something going on the first Friday of the month.
I just stumbled upon these cabin videos and just have to say that I love this project. I wish I could do these sort of things, but I'll just admire your work from afar. Good luck with the rest of the build!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy them!
Looking really good, Mike. Hope you guys are getting to enjoy it there! 👍
Thanks Gary, we are !

I have a cabin in Leland. The sun would be nice every once in awhile. .
Thanks guys, it was nice to relax a bit!
You’re videos are awesome! Whoever says you are not off grid there must just be jealous 😂
Thanks! 😃
You don't owe us anything but i'm always happy to see a new video! You worked hard enough on that place to just enjoy it. What's the point of a cabin if every trip there turns into an obligation. :)
I appreciate that!
You’re awesome!!
Thank you for sharing 🇺🇸❤️
Thanks for watching!
Looking good. Like the window treatments. Dang sasquatch window peeking dogs :) Take care.
You take care as well!
Watch out for skunks and other critters that set up their home under your beautiful cabin. My family learned this lesson when I was a child from a smelly experience while on vacation in Colorado. It made an indelible impression on my young nose.
oh gosh, yea that would be horrible
Good catch on the toilet paper Sarah! Guests would really have to wonder…. Over the top! 👍
Ha ha saved the day!
Cozy cabin. Love it. 👍🏻
Thanks James
Nice tosee you back!😊
Thank you 😁
Nos gusta veros por aquí y saber que todo marcha bien y solo estáis con mucho trabajo, habrá tiempo de ver más vídeos. Saludos y muchos ánimos para este nuevo año 🙂
Hola, Onubense, muchas gracias. De donde son ustedes? Llevo un ano aprender español. Siempre me hace feliz practicar español.
mike, never worry about trollers, their only want to be's. in my book your kicking ass taking names.
as far as solar goes, it does have it limits, but it does a great job in the time os needs.
Thank you, appreciate it.
We're still here... waiting to enjoy a beer while soaking in the pond.
Thank you!
