Not seen in the UK since it was last transmitted (on ITV) back in the 1960s. The series was thought lost until Roberta Leigh found a set of prints in 1997 in her garage.

My keen eye detected several Inspirations for things in future show series. Captain White's rotating Desk? Original Fireball XL5 concept ship? Thunderbirds T5? And ... More to come.

This series might have a crude look today, but the writing and the ideas were so far ahead of their time.

  • @shrunkenheadache

It would be lovely if these could be colourised.

Always remembered this from childhood, the music & sound effects were made quite an impression at the time ! Factually a bit ropey , Neptune is a gas giant for example, & Venus is the temperature of molten lead ! But who cares!? Great yarns 👍👍👍👍

First time I've ever seen Space Patrol. WOW! Brilliant!!😃

  • @CaptainFabulous84

It's crazy how much the sound effects and voices are similar to what came later in Star Trek.

This is where my love of SciFi started. It was the first SciFi show I ever saw.

The electronics credit went to F C Judd - Fred Judd lived near where I live now, and was a radio ham who designed and built a few radio antennas that became quite popular like the Slim Jim. I the late 70s, he was quite ancient, and a bit grump but a very clever fella! Nice to remember him from the credits here,

Fantastic! This series is new to me. I enjoyed the twists and turns they managed to squeeze into 25 minutes! The two different types of Venusians reminded me of the Treens and Therons from DAN DARE. 🇬🇧🚀🇬🇧🚀🇬🇧🚀

This is just amazing, so many prophesies of our future (now) world.

I remember watching this on tv. Even better, I have a box set of the complete series on DVD which came out in 2003.👍

Distant, hazy early 60s memories of this wonderful series. It's almost gothic futurism.

  • @mandolinic

No expense spared on Slim's space back-pack special effect. 😁

  • @brotherkellymatthewbarnes8882

Thank you, Gerry Anderson Channel. This has been an eye-opening event for me.

  • @Lee-cz6ss

I've been a fan for 50 years and never saw this before ....

  • @sorvad99

That was brilliant, I'm 54 and its the first time I've ever seen an episode of space patrol. It must not have been repeated by the time I was a kid.

  • @eldrinod

Where on earth did you manage to find such a good print? I have been watching all the colourised episodes which I have been enjoying immensely but it is so lovely to watch a first generation episode as opposed to a copy of a copy. Thanks for making this 67 year old man happy👍🏻🌟
