I tried one of these yesterday because I'm thinking about using it since my band plays through a PA. It sounded really great! I'll tell my wife to get it for me for Christmas. I'm sure she'll love the quiet of not hearing an amp.
Modded is a good metal sound straight out of the box, I used it live recently straight in the PA. In this video it even reminds me of the Ride The Lightning album.
I hope you dig it. It's a great pedal. As cool as that Tonex One is, I think the Boss will last a lot longer and probably hold its resale value better.
Thank you. I've been searching for a straightforward tutorial especially on Channel setting/saving. This saved my Boss IR-2 where I hated the functionality of it so much I was done with it until you clearly explained this.
I have the cab sim off on mine. I run it into an EHX magnum44 into a speaker cab. Sounds great to me. The magnum 44 is a power amp pedal what is incredibly loud.
I want to get one just have the Engl amp sound without the Engl hole in my wallet. It is really amazing what Boss can do in a small pedal. Awesome demo, Scott!
Cool demo! And thanks for showing the software. I didn’t know u could match the pedal with an amp. I’ve tried it out in a store running thru the power amp in or return of a Katana. I’d like to select the Katana in the software to see how much it affects the tone.
I am not sure. You would have to check the parameters guide of the ME-90. I'm not sure there is any advantage of adding the IR-2 to your chain. The ME-90 has a wider variety of amps and you can load IR's into the ME-90.
How is this used, is it connected to an amp? Can you do a video on how to hook up and use. Also which would be better this or the new 50w Katana? Thanks for any advice.
I had to a send the pedal back to zzounds, but you have different options for connections. You can connect it directly into the front of an amp or into the power in section, or you can connect it directly to a PC if you plan on using it for recording through a recording interface or USB-C, or directly into a PA. As far as this Vs the 50, tit all depends what you plan on doing. If you want to practice and/or gig, it's probably better to have a stage amp. I'll be reviewing and demoing the Gen 3 100 watt in the coming month or so.
Interesting, but not for me. Get this: Last night I decided to load up a Boss II model "lights-journey" and as soon as I enabled it a loud ear splitting screaming came from the Boss, only way to stop it was to kill the amp then went into the Boss library, the preset for the model in editor was volume 100 and gain 70 with mods at +50! I am getting a bit of static from my amp now, hope it didn't fry the speaker, and I will be checking all my premade models from now on before enabling them. Have you had that experience?
Yeah, this one is for certain applications and if you won't make use of it often, it's tough to justify the price. A far as the amp goes, if if it is your speaker, at least that is a much cheaper fix than a new amp. I always like to check the patch volume and I try to warn people when mine might be a bit cranked. My master usually doesn't go past 9 o'clock.
I think this would turn my Solid State Peavey Head into a cool, super dynamic, good sounding amp. The amp is clean and powerful. Would I put this pedal in the loop circuit and then use the pedal's own loop circuit for further looping needs? Good demo BTW, I've been perusing Zzounds a little more lately, nice catalogue, prices seem within reason, I didn't compare. BOSS is simply awesome in almost everything they do, or they'll add a switch that turns the awesome on.
I just plugged my bass into like a guitar and I think I played it through one of the clean amps. It's been awhile, so I honestly don't remember which amp/ir used for the recording.
I bought the boss IR-2 with the intention of emulating in my physical amplifier the sounds of the amplifiers that the IR-2 brings in its configuration, in this case using the Retur input that bypasses my amplifier's preamp. Does this make any sense to you? Will it be good? Or did I lose my rich money?
@@Robson_rcnd Ah, I gotcha, yes, I would try to run it into the return or power amp in, if equipped. You may also want to fire up the software to select which line out configuration you should use.
@@eddy4022 no. The line out from the pedal. Check out the editor settings around 4:30, where I explained in the editor for adapting to different amps and/or turning the amp or cab sim off.
Need an answer? You seriously don't need an amp... Only if you only play in your bedroom plugged into your computer or if you Can plug In a PA on stage or rehearsal studio. But... If you want to Travel really light, you need more effect pédals. And on this field there are lots of budget better one pedal solutions like zoom Ms50 or pod express, etc... Where you have everything in one box, with very décent sounds. I only take my Boogie for gigs and use my ms 50 for rehearsals and home practicing, in front of a small BT speaker or headphones.
No argument here. I've heard good things about the MS50 series, although after using sever Zoom multifx units, I wasn't that impressed with a lot of the amp/cab sims. It is super impressive what can be packed into small fx units these days.

That setting is if you're running into a Katana and it does change the tone to be optimized to play through the Katana.
Hi sir, Im planning to buy these and I have a boss me 90. Should I still use the preamp in the boss me 90? Or do you have any suggestions? Thanks

I would experiment with plugging it in. You could plug it into your return and see how it sounds there and then run other pedals through the loop.
Can you give some insight on how it's connecting your bass guitar? Which amp and IR you selected?

Is it fine to use in a guitar amp or has to be in a pa ?
Either or. You may have to adjust the line out settings to optimize the sound to your amp.
