The window openings have made such a difference! So much light, feels so much bigger inside. Great work Steve. I can’t wait to be sitting looking out at the view, beer in hand. Hey I’ll even grab a beer for you too 😉
Thanks for another great video Steve I was watching you work and wondered if its possible to pipe in cool air into the now enclosed boat to make the work area more comfy now that its enclosed (clear plastic film over the windows to allow in light but hold the coolness). Guess it will soon be winter, I have just come back from the mountains here in NZ got a taste of winter after a really hot summer here by the sea.
I could, but then I wouldn't have an excuse to take a day off when it's hot😂 You know I dug that pool, so I have to jump in it sometimes. Like today, it's bonkers hot and I have chosen the pool over the boat shed. Take care.
Great job as always, seems like the last few videos the transformation has been amazing, especially the aft sections, just wow! Pat yourself real good on the back, you deserve it. Great call on the air condition system, especially getting the weight down lower, take care!
Thanks for your kind words. :) I will make sure I don't have epoxy on my hands when I give myself a pat on the back. I do get glue in my hair sometimes which is bad enough. LOL
Are you going to add some port lights at the outside rear corners of the wheel house? It may not seam like much, but the aft quarter angle visibility will be of much more benefit and useful than you/might believe at first. And couple of brass or bronze port lights will be a classy touch which goes very well with your style of the boat. In my opinion, you often don’t realize how much satisfaction some little detail like those extra little holes in the back wall will give you in confined or crowded maneuvering situations. Much easier to turn and just look out the view ports than stick your head out the door. Plus they would be a neat detail to complement your helm. (Steering wheel).
Steve you have the coolest boat build on UA-cam TV and you should have 500,000 subscribers and millions of views , if this channel does not inspire you to build a boat then i don't know what will ! Steve are you going to tab in the bulkheads or just rely on the glue ??
Thanks Anne, yep, I will be taping them in where I can, with a good couple of layers of fibreglass tape, finished with a glue fillet. I hope you have been playing that guitar Anne, take care, Steve
Looking good, shame the gopro don't havea low battery beep, that grab rail will need to be strong cause I reckon some monkey will swing down the stairs, I know I would 😊. Cheers and beers.
Well you got to like that, I guess the templates are to send off to the window guy, are they slightly tinted glass for that heat and are you putting in an escape hatch in bedroom? 40C is pretty hot, I get maybe 35C here were I am and it's mostly indoor work on those few days it reaches that. I guess being on the water makes a quick dip off the back deck pretty easy to cool down......cheers and nice path.
Hi Doug, yep templates will be sent off to the window people. No tinted glass as I like to have a really clear view. It would be cooler, but blinds and curtains will take care of that. As I am sure you are aware, everything is a compromise on a boat. Funny how the first path we put in leads directly to the boat shed. haha Cheers, Steve
Hi Glenn, thanks for the compliment. I have been throwing stuff together in between boat building and life, with the intention of putting an album together at some stage. I think I have enough songs, but finding the time to finalise them and record them properly is proving tricky. However, you have inspired me to get a move on with the process and I will find, or make time to do it. Unfortunately I don't have anything available as a finished product yet. Soon, yes definitely soon. I will let everyone know via my videos when I have something available. Again, thanks for asking. Cheers, Steve.
I'm a bit envious of your boat, all this space and comfort. Unfortunately I don't have any rivers or canals to travel on as I live by the ocean so I guess this kind of construction wouldn't work. I have only 1NM from my dock to open waters with an infinite horizon, if I go in the wrong direction from my dock I can go over 300NM in a straight line without ever reaching land.
Well I think the construction method of marine plywood, epoxy glue and fibreglass would be just fine, but you would need a good sea going design. I live the sea, but it is a lot of work watching tides, currents, depths, the weather etc., so although I love it, I really like the ease of river boating. So easy and stress free. Take care and thanks for leaving a comment. Steve
I considered buying an old boat and doing it up, but I could not find anything with a shallow draft that really suited my requirements for the river. Also, I just wanted to make something as a project. I am really, really, really old, and this design and build is good for both my mind and my body. LOL Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy it. Bye for now, Steve
Steve absolutely fabulous work! Not a criticism, just curious , are you going to put an edge around the L shaped seat in the saloon , if so won't that interfere with the mattress base, if it's going to be a guest bed?
Hi Sue, yes there will be an edge around the base of the seating to stop seats sliding etc. But the upholstery will be about 100mm thick and the edge only sitting up about 40mm. Once the bed is made up, you will not feel the edging. I did it that way on another boat and it worked very well. That's probably as clear as mud LOL Thanks for asking, cheer, Steve
Sometimes I do, but if I'm careful I can start a nice cut with just the blade. It needs to be very steady and with even pressure. (not so good to do that after the beer)
boat is looking fantastic
Thank you very much. I am enjoying having her finally start to look like a boat rather than a big pile of plywood. Cheers, Steve

Sound like a plan! A good time to write more songs.
Nailing (and gluing) it buddy! Great work !

Your windows looking very nice it gives space 👍👍
hello, yes space and light. Starting to really feel nice inside.
Looks a whole lot more boaty with the window openings cut out. Like how your saloon is coming together.
Thanks, hopefully she will really look the part when she is all fitted out.
I think your air con choice will be more satisfactory long term.
Yep, I'm sure it will be awesome and the right choice.
Great progress and really looking beautiful inside and out!
Thanks Mark, I can't wait to start fitting her out and getting to the painting stage.

Hello, hmmm, not sure yet. I might have enough visibility with the rear window cut out, but we will see. Thanks for your suggestion.
Excellent stuff Steve... I'm a coach builder by trade.. Did my time at Rhodesia railways.... Your skills are impressive 😂
Wow, a coach builder. I bet you have plenty of skills and tricks.

Haha, yes, I will definitely swing down from it too. It will be super strong!

Steve i really liked the music sound track , Where can your music be purchased ? I'm in the U.S.

I noticed you don't drill a 10mm hole for the jigsaw blade... You let the blade penetrate the timber.... Episode 41
