They actually played The Hot Club in Philly the week before this gig. I know because I was in the opening band. The gig was sparsely attended. The Cure were not very friendly.
Yup, that's my semi senior memory lol. I got the dates mixed up. I got in some hot water because I was trying to get a gig at Emerald City and I let it drop that we were opening for The Cure at the Hot club the week after they played Emerald City and it was explained to me that this was not a good thing to mention to a club that had already booked them. We were managed at the time by the owner of The Hot Club, David Carrol. Opened for The Dead Boys too on Hot Club's closing night.
@@ggold1 I was at the EC show....but so many great shows back then. London Victory, East Side Club. Oh...and I went to High School with Joe Sweeney. Small world.
I believe this was the night the Cure opened for the Buzzcocks. I was there.

100% confirmed 1st date in the US, Cure did play The Hot Club on the 19th, so a couple of days after this. Sucks they weren't very friendly.

WAs there right down in front. We were freaking out because we really didn’t know them or their music. Great dancing music!!
no encores? is this a diff recording than what slicing up eyeballs had posted?
No it is the same, as far as we know it’s the only source. This is just the first part of the recording.
