Floor is highly able to mix the styles of singing. It’s only because Nightwish‘s Tarja used the opera technic more, people doubt it. She s definitely great and very natural in many genres. The song is great. The whole album has an interesting Paradise Lost Touch, in some of the arrangements as well as in the cover artwork. Think of Icon and Draconian Times. But of course After Forever shows the fast and rhythmical Metal Symphonic Parts as well
Floor is capable of anything. Tarja is only famous because Nightwish became a huge mainstream success with their combination of powermetal and "operatic" female vocals, and a lot of people who had never heard real opera (or just a really good singer) started to idolize her. Yes, this album definitely has this "gothic doom" sound, with some progressive and power metal influences (and even some blackened passages which don't fit here at all IMO). These would become much more apparent on "Decipher". After kicking out Mark Jansen, they basically dropped the gothic influence and transformed into progressive powermetal. Miss this band... Very creative music, and Floor was completely wild and free back then. I think she keeps her beauty concealed a bit too much behind the curtain of Tuomas' orchestrations.

But After Forever was better.
