Mountain Monsters takes Paranormal Investigative reality shows and combines it with the DEEP LORE of a DND Campaign. They fight the paranormal like the Mothman and the Sheepsquatch. It's the deepest part of the Discovery-Channel Hoax Catalogue...and I sort of like it.

as a Native American, I would love a show that explores our stories and culture, but I also sorta want it to have the exact same tone as this. a bunch of natives bumbling around in the woods by the lake tryna find our sea goddess
I would love to see that, actually
thatll just get you cancelled for "cultural appropriation"
@@Shampoid they said natives bumbling around in the woods. natives can’t appropriate their own culture lmao
Nah it would be too " racist" for today. Funny how a native suggests this, almost as if people can take a joke lol.
@@bloodangel19 where’s the joke
The reason that Mountain Monsters works is BECAUSE it has a low budget and is cheap. It's four guys having a blast in the woods, they look like regular guys, and they act like regular guys. The Finding Bigfoot people act like they're larping professionals. They try way too hard. Mountain Monsters knows what it is, which is why it works.
I know the show is fake. I know the show is hokey. I KNOW the show is dumb but DAMMNIT I still find it way more entertaining that just about every other "cryptid hunting" series that has ever aired on Travel Channel.
@@kanseiyamazaru435 It's fun and entertaining.
It's WWE but with bigfoot we came for the fake action but stayed for the drama.
It’s kinda like Lost Tapes in that way for me, it knows what it is and it rolls with it
@@kanseiyamazaru435 that's exactly how I feel about it and I enjoy watching it
These guys would just pay random people as witnesses and it just adds to the charm. The hellhound witness was a friend of my mom's ex and it's so surreal seeing him talk about it 100% genuine lmao
How much was he paid?
froever
When Trapper died they had this tribute thing on the show where they were sitting around a campfire and they all talked about how they were feeling and how they loved him and they cried with each other and supported each other. Fake show or not, this is a great show that they are making to entertain people and the love and support these men show each other and the fact they can talk about things and show so much love makes these guys the most real and manly men I have ever seen in my life.
fr if we could get more manly men showing that emotional sincerity and vulnerability it would do a lot for the world.
Damn right
They also got into beef with Finding Bigfoot once and to be fair at least the guys on Mountain Monsters have guns and traps
"May the Valkyries welcome you, and bring you through Odin's great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla, and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings."
imagine getting kidnapped by your rival bigfoot hunting team and the camera man just stands there and films it
He I getting paid to film and not to interrupt 😏
It’s like on nature documentaries they’re not allowed to get involved 😂😂
I like to imagine the camera man awkwardly asking the rival bigfoot dudes if he can tag along to keep filming, and the rival bigfoot guys are all 'Shit, why not?'
Yes, that's the job.
Take only pictures, leave only footprints..... the mans a professional
Billiam talking about how they're pretty much just D&D LARPing, makes me unironically want an actual show that fully embraces the D&D LARPing. Kind of like a mockumentary series with D&D players hunting down monsters for quests with goofy over top acting and ridiculous costumes for the monsters. I want them to even interview the monsters like they interview the main characters, it'd be hilarious.
Want them to be like fighting actual demons in the Abyss and it just cuts to an interview about with a demon they are fighting, talking about how awesome the party is to work with, talk about their skill in fighting, cut to them doing a brutal teamwork kill on this exact demon while the demon talks about their teamwork compatibility, would be great.
Finally, you cut back to the Demon, now cut in two, just finishing it off with a line like "I tell you, this party? They're the real deal."
If you ever need a guy in Michigan, hit me up. I’ll be in it for free; sounds like fun

To be fair… it’d be fun to chase a bunch of imaginary monsters in the dark with friends AND get paid for it? Add a case a beer and that’s a regular hunting season for the southern gentleman.

I feel like this is missing some cultural context, hillbilly television at this point in time was extremely popular thanks to shows on the History Channel like Mountain Men and Duck Dynasty on TLC, so some executive decided that they should combine the most profitable genre from History Channel and one of the most profitable genres from Discovery Channel to make a cryptid hillbilly show. This show is one of my favorite monster-hunting shows. RIP John Tice aka Trapper, and best quote of the series has to be "He looks like a Redneck Crocodile Dundee." Got to love Buck, and hell gotta love the humor of the AIMS team, especially Wild Bill.

i realy liked the Grass Man bit, how one goes "He's been showing up where people live" and everyone is disgusted by that, and i'm just thinking... did the Grass Man did something? is he actively terrorizing folks or eating babies or just minding his own business? and that gave me an idea, a show about hillbillies actually wrestling monsters who are just minding their own business, like they stumble on bigfoot sitting on a meadow watching the clouds and they run up to him and start to wrestle him and then just leave all happy because they sure showed him
"They are woohooing in the woods" hearing that completely outside of the Sims has me dying

Completely agree, I don't mind this review, but it almost feels disingenuous. I'd rather hear the reviews of people in these comment thread. I watched a lot of TCM, Family Feud, and Boxing/UFC with my Grandma.
A couple of years ago when I was at university, my friend and I used to watch mountain monsters every single night because he showed it to me and we thought it was the funniest and genuinely entertaining shows we had seen. It deserves so much attention because so many moments are absolute gold.
A relative of mine was on the show for an episode and also helped work on the sound for a few others. When we asked him if sound meant recording the audio or making fake bigfoot noises, he replied "yes."
Mountain Monsters knows how to not take itself to serious and just entertain people, finding bigfoot is so self reassuring on every aspect you know it's not real and you cant suspend your disbelief.
This show is absolute gold and no one can tell me otherwise. My favorite take on this show (which my dad pitched me) is that the producers and crew have just been fucking with em and they all genuinely believe what’s happening and this is just how they are lmao
This feels accurate
This show is literally my guilty pleasure because I know it’s funny and dumb as hell

Bruh the crew doesn’t even know what’s going on half the time, u clearly haven’t watched this show enough
I'm Native American! I was showing my mom this first few bits of this vid and she said we should make a Native American one. so when you said you would like to see Native American folk lore monsters show I lost it in my room and yelled to my mom there's an audience for it! I'm sure we can get my step dad and his buddies a few beers and get them to LARP in the woods of Kansas Oklahoma and Texas.
I'd watch it.
I’d pay money to watch this
I'd watch this if it's obviously low budget and there are multiple beer breaks called for on camera during the LARPing.
Question is now will you be fighting these monsters or tryna get footage? 🤔
I’d watch it man
Yes. Do it
I really wanted the rival Bigfoot team to have their own segment where they speak to the camera. I mean, if you're going to kidnap two guys on camera, while the crew is going to do nothing to stop you, you might as well say something to the nice folks at home
As someone who loves this show, I glad it gets the recognition it deserves.
RIP Trapper you are deeply missed.
Also Mountain Monsters has gotten affirmation from Cliff and Bobo from Finding Bigfoot. And Cliff was also one of the leading experts on Monster quest for the bigfoot episodes.
This video reawakened a memory lmao. When I was younger I went to this girl's sleepover birthday party and at night she put this show on and we were all entranced and thought it was real (kids are dumb) her dad terrified all of us by putting on a gorilla Halloween costume and jumping out at as pretending to be a Bigfoot. One girl got scared so bad she had to leave. 💀💀💀 her dad felt really bad but I had a great time. Great show 10/10
Me and my friends use to go camping on my property and my dad would always tell us scary stories then shake the tent in the middle of the night of make noises in the woods and one night a new kid was there and got so scared he actually peed himself. Miss those days

It brought back a memory of seeing my older brother watching it and just being so confused and flabbergasted as to why...

if this is how Billiam acts with crypto hunting shows, I REALLY want to see him watch "ghost hunting" shows
I used to hang out at a local cemetery a lot to photograph the animals that would come out of the woods that bordered it. It was also a good place to do some astro photography as it was on the edge of town and there weren't any lights in the area.
I used to run into a ghost hunting group a lot. Typically I'd see them way before they'd know I was there, for one, because they were loud. And always jumping or exclaiming at random animal noises or shuffling.
The way they'd talk about the "whispers" their recorders picked up was often just hilarious. The main lady running it would get so pissed off at me for just being out in the cemetery at night. As if there aren't 4 other cemeteries she could go to. She'd say that I was "scaring the ghosts away."
Just grifters being grifters. Everything is haunted until people who don't believe show up. They seemed to be doing just fine until they realized the distant random glow was my camera screen in the dark or that clicking noise was my camera. Or that other noise was usually just a screech owl. Or perhaps from one of the houses that neighbored the cemetery with maybe a 50ft strip of trees and a railroad track in between. Anyway, I'd love to see him cover some ghost hunter shows. Those people are seriously ridiculous.
Ghost Adventures would give him a real field day

My buddy used to work on as a bee keeper on land owned by wild bill. One time he said he went to bring him his monthly honey and when he knocked on the door Wild bill clearly had a gun behind his back. This show is the perfect storm. Every single one of these men is unhinged, all in different hilarious flavors. The way the show is shot is absolutely insane. They try to make you believe that the dude with the most empty stare out of all of them is capable of setting gigantic nonsensical traps. Wild Bill is constantly screaming when he talks. His name is WIld Bill. Once they got chased through the woods by someone named Stinky Tom. The first time I watched it with a friend we laughed so hard we almost threw up. It's a masterpiece.
Thank God they aren't ACTUALLY hunting anything, or they'd have to leave wild Bill at home.
First time he speaks, every creature in a 5 mile radius knows EXACTLY where the AIMS team is.
So funny thing about stinky tom it was just will running after them without his shirt on
I think Buck being the "expert caller" is just saying he calls the experts when needed. I don't know if anyone can truly master the art of screaming into the darkness of the woods. Thats a true art, easy to learn hard, impossible to master.

Mountain Monsters is genuinely one of my fav shows ever and the Dark Forest arc is one the most hilarious and one of my fav arcs of a show in tv history. My favorite one of these shows will always be Ghost Adventures, Zak Baggins seems to have a righteous, holy fervor to not only find a real ghost/demon, but he seems to want to die a martyr battling a ghost/demon and he seems to have wrangled some friends into a obligated ghost based suicide pact.
I haven't watched Ghost Adventures in years, but I uses to binge seasons at the time while in hs and later as an undergraduate. Zak is the goth jock that I never knew I needed a heavy dose of until I saw him act like a masochistic gym rat while in the haunts of supposed demons.

The first 4 or so seasons of Deadliest Catch were pretty great though when it was fresh and focused on the actual crab fishing. Once it started focusing more on inter-ship drama and contrived mariner politics, it was never the same. Its like after Phil died and it was a huge deal, some exec thought they needed to veer a lot more into the 'drama' side of things.
Same thing with Storage Wars. These shows start out plausible and thus enjoyable, and then just inevitably jumps the -crab- shark and kills your suspension of disbelief.

I loved that show! It's so silly, great back ground noise while I cleaned. I always recommend it when someone brings up big foot (which is more recurring than I'd expect)
I specifically remember the chupacabra episode that they did, because that was the closest they ever got to having the monster front and center on camera. You could pause it and go frame by frame and go “wow holy crap that looks like an actual wolf like creature’s head menacing them” only to then realize that it’s basically JUST the head and it’s not even rearing up its forepaws or something, and you’re like “wow that’s basically a gigantic wolf head puppet huh” but the way it’s presented and the way it has just the right amount of motion during the brief camera shot that you weirdly appreciate the dedication and ingenuity of the filmmakers doing this stuff despite everything. Same goes for the “buck and a cameraman get separated from everyone else and buck is possessed or something” moment from the Dark Forest saga, where the moments where the cameraman and buck get separated and the cameraman genuinely sounds worried about losing him only for buck to mysteriously appear right behind him again and go “dude I’ve been here the whole time”, on top of Buck’s delivery of his line claiming to know why the other guy’s nose is bleeding despite the two of them having no way of knowing that that nosebleed is happening in the first place… I dunno, it’s just very engaging somehow

The first episode of Mountain Monsters I ever saw was with my roommate in college who watched it regularly. I wasn’t too invested, figured it would be a fun little distraction for an hour or so like most ghost or cryptid hunting shows I see.
Then the first thing I see is a guy in a cage in the middle of the forest because a skeleton put him there. It only got more engrossing from there.
Ohhhhh yes, I was really hoping you would cover this. I got introduced to this show when my dungeon master and I would watch it while waiting for other party members to show up, and I legit got invested. Also the line “why are there 3 of em!?” Became an inside meme.
Did your DM hijack any of the episode plots for campaigns?
@@Gloomdrake unfortunately not, but everytime there was 3 of something we quoted the one line
The edit of the COD lobby is just so accurate and hilarious!!🤣🤣

"This leads them to the scariest place they've encountered in their D&D campaign!"
I'm fucking dead. 😆
Mountain Monsters sounds to me like a really wholesome Hunter campaign from the World of Darkness (pick a version). They're just dudes trying to protect the world from monsters, only to discover the world has far worse things in it than merely Bigfoot. Including, of course, the most evil creature of all: Man.
With the DnD comparison I really recommend anyone who likes this stuff to look into the game system Monster of the Week. It's more storytelling focused than traditional DnD systems and the way its structured makes the campaigns feel a lot like this show
I live in WV this show was a guilty pleasure of mine. The episode when the other team got the bigfoot was priceless
Small little neat detail i noticed that just put a smile on my face is hearing Kurtis Conner's "indoor boyfriend" instrumental as a backdrop to the sponsored segment
My father, may he rest in peace, unironically loved this show. Knew it was bullshit, loved it anyway. I always turned my nose up at watching it with him. I really, really wish I had taken the time.
I'm really sorry for your loss
@@luvdisneyv thank you, that's really kind
Wish you had too now, but hey give it marathon watch and have yourself a good laugh for him, sure he'd like that
I’m sorry man. Sorry for your loss ):
Watch it in his honor. This goofy shit makes me smile
Honestly this is the show that most represents my experiences hunting cryptids in my teens & 20s. A bunch of dudes & dudettes drinking, playing with guns & using the cryptozoology as an excuse to go camping in spooky places. Now we or may not remember to take pictures or properly document evidence, but what will absolutely happen is someone pisses in the damn camp fire ruins the mood.
Unironically I actually think this guy will improve CW TV shows.
I'd love to see Cw cryptid show. We could have Mothman terrifying people in one scene and in the next he's talking about how distressed he is that he can't date Bigfoots daughter
@@92Raider-art I'd watch that 👍
@@AspiringDevil Yeah for real I'd watch it too just because of the crazy premise
You sold me on the show, but I kinda want to see them with a budget so they can jaw an actor in a realistic bigfoot costume
Bro me and my whole family, brother, dad, and mother used to watch this while eating dinner for like a solid two years when I was in elementary school just cuz of the sheer ridiculousness of it.
My favorite quote from this show is when they stumble upon some trees that look weird. Then one of them says: "This is obviously a Bigfoot tree structure"
The premise of Mountain Monsters would kinda work well for a multiplayer videogame where you hunt monsters with your buddies
The computer game "Bigfoot?"
The computer game "Monster Hunter?"
@@Sub-Atomic Monster Hunter is too fantastical. I wanna roleplay as an Appalachian hillbilly with a shotgun
@@manospondylus4896 fair enough
Fancy seeing you here Mr.Kosemen.
I laughed SO hard when I saw this title! Mountain Monsters is such a stupid, insane show, that I make a point of showing it to me friends once I know them suitably well. In college, I organized a watch party, and we spent the whole night laughing, especially at the "rogue team" stuff. This show is not remembered remotely enough! Cheers for this!
I already watched your lost video but every time you ask the audience to I wish I could go like it again. Great stuff as always, I'm enjoying watching through the ones I missed :D
I'm infinitely bummed that discovery is now running HBOMax
They need to fire David Zaslav
Tell me about it. They're just wiping out all the good shows on the app and it's like...why the fuck would you do any of this? Like...you have your own app. Use that. Don't cannibalize this one. Hell toss in a sub to Discovery+ if you want.
@@Thesquareandweird they are legit burning everything to the ground for the off chance of saving money. Yes they’re getting rid of projects that waste money but they are also destroying literal shows to make some money from tax write offs
@@Thesquareandweird They're basically using Warner properties as a quick buck to boost their profits, as far as I can tell. It's the same tactics that hedge funds use: go into a large amount of debt to buy a company, then force that company to take on that debt and pay it off by making huge cuts.
*Running HBOMax into the ground
Honestly wasn’t expecting another vid after the last lost one, but it’s much appreciated.
Lossened* one,
FTFY
Right?! I was prepared to not see Billy for another 8 months
Hell yeah man! Friday night watching Billiam!
There was a show on History called Missing in Alaska, only ran for one season, but had a native guy as part of the team. Was interesting learning about their view of each cryptid.
I love the "limited edition" bit. Solid gold.
Mountain Monsters is one of the best things ive ever watched. Ive been watching it forever and when trapper died, i was absolutely devastated. Its a great show and super hilarious, please i beg you to watch it, please.
The cookout bit really resonated with me, simply because I share that experience. I’ve always heard about cookout but have never seen one with my own eyes. A truly scary cryptid.
I have seen some strange and frightening things, but monkeys and machineguns are the scariest thing I have seen in real life. So frightening I am organizing several platoons of them for frontline service in my PMC. No "crimes against humanity" if there are no humans!
This show is legitimately better than anything that's came from Hollywood the past 15-20 years.
this was unironically my FAVORITE show as a kid living in deep woods appalachia. as a 9-11 yr old it scared the absolute shit out of me. my brother actually met wild bill in the fishing section at walmart
Mountain Monsters brought me together with some of my closest friends. We only watched episodes when we were together and truly, watching them spin off the rails was next level.
forever
Mountain Monsters is what every group of friends dreams of doing. Just acting goofy and going on made up quests in the woods. They obviously have a blast when they make the episodes and don't take themselves too seriously.
They were the best of any supernatural/cryptid shows at this time. There were literally dozens of these cheap copy and paste shows.
They would all do the same shit, go to a spot, ask a couple random boring people a question or two, than wander around the woods for 10 minutes.
Mountain Monsters had storylines, reoccurring villains, conspiracy, monster teamups, season long mysteries, and creative conflicts.
The amount of out of context gold from this show is incredible
The bars of the cage that Buck gets "trapped" in are wide enough to fit 2 people through simultaneously!
