Gloria’s live “Coming Out Of The Dark” is fantastic. She had been in an awful bus wreck. They weren’t sure if she would walk again. After surgeries, physical rehab she walked out on stage looking beautiful and sang that song. I still get chills!!

@@jerrymartin3965Actually Emilio Estefan her husband got the idea for the song when he was leaving the hospital where Gloria remained paralysed and the sun came out lighting up an otherwise overcast day and the title “Coming out of the dark” came into his mind and while she was recovering Emilio took the idea to Gloria who then wrote the song with Jon Secada in 15 minutes inspired by her perspective of triumphing over adversity.

Gloria Estefan is one of the best female singers of the latter half of the 20th Century. She is listed as being 5' 2" tall, which means she's probably at best 5 '1" on a good day. She was born in Havana, Cuba.

Miami Sound Machine came on with a force in the mid-80's and gave us that Latin/Cuban island sound. We fell in love with her. As a solo artist, she got even bigger with hit after hit like this one. Just a genuinely cool woman. While she has never gotten the icon credit like Madonna, Mariah and some others, she was definitely someone that deserves that label.

I have heard this song hundreds of times, but have never gotten a Karen Carpenter vibe until now. Anything for you , That's one of my favorites. It peaked # 1 on the billboard chart for 2 weeks in a row in 1988.

Also Ricky Martin's song from 1999 called "Livin' La Vida Loca" . The English title is "Livin' The Crazy Life". This was a monster song at the time that just made you get up and DANCE!! The beat was crazy relentless! You two will love it.

Gloria was like the queen of the ballads in the late 80's and early 90s. Just the best.

As much as I enjoy Gloria Estefan's fast pace, pop, dance music. My favorite are her slower, love songs. In her love songs, she really showcases her vocal range, and brings it right to the table.

I “LOVE” me some Gloria!!!🥰❤ She was hit with the worst of adversities right when she was at the top of her game in the pop music scene, but like most women of strength and heart 💪she endured in the end!! I have much respect for her ✌️🫶

Gloria Estefan's husband, Emilio Estefan, was also a member of the Miami Sound Machine. They mentored and produced hit songs by one of the Miami Sound Machine backup singers, Jon Secada. His recordings, Mental Picture and Angel, are two examples of his extraordinary vocal talent.
