I always go back to these old videos not only for Greg’s glorious playing but the interaction between him and Joe makes me feel like they let me into their living room conversation.😊
Greg is hands down my favorite. I love how he plays, his enthusiasm and confidence. Such a cool dude. If I had the money I'd buy everything he had ever reviewed!
I will never forget the time back in high school when my homeroom teacher brought his Gretsch Country Gentleman into school. It was the exact beautiful lime green color as the one in this video. It immediately changed my opinion about him. "This guy is really COOL"! I started playing guitar right after that and 50+ years later I am still enamored with this guitar. Maybe some day........
I tried one these [or something very like it], in my local guitar shop today [a fantastic proprietor in there]. What a sensational guitar. Deep, rich tone, great neck and fretboard, the best Bigsby I've ever come across and so many other incredible features. A magnificent instrument.
Love your videos, man : informative, great playing, shows clean tones, expressive vocab, funny AF. I think I shall go to you when I’m ready to buy my Gretsch with the least possible bracing inside
OMG! Amazing video! I thought I had seen all of your videos, but these Gretsch reviews are PRICELESS!!!! I love my 5420T even more after seeing your videos! Thanks for all the great playing and comments. Keep playing like that! You rock!
GREGSTER!!! As Robert Deniro would say " YOU - you're very good you". I just want it on the record that this video resulted in my purchase of the G6118T -135 Anniversary - gold top w/ dark metalic cherry B&S. AND just now the Little Gristle. I will have you mentioned in my obit Greg. (down the road 😊) Wishing you & yours all the best in 2024.
Oh, 6’7” I understand better now. (Proportion of guitar-body size to guitar-player size. Dude’s not just “very tall,” he’s approaching Ben Kissel levels of big-ness.) Dude is super funny, a fantastic guitar player, and Affirm really ought touse his impromptu jingle (honestly). It’s great to have Joe Carducci visit the videos to spit facts. For example, I always need to know about what kind of bracing when it comes to Gretsch (and hollowbodies in general). Hey Joe: is the Eddie Cochran signature model the only “empty” hollowbody coming from Gretsch Terada ? I’m looking for empty, like the Cochran, or minimal, “anti-extra” bracing. Top-vibration combined with string vibration: that’s my Holy Grail. It’s also b/c if I’m just working out a riff or quickly grabbing the guitar for some reason, I don’t plug in. Sometimes I allow my unplugged strumming to bleed onto my vocal tracks, and it augments the ‘line-in’ or mic’d guitar amp. I know, I know, from Chet to BB there are players and reasons (e.g. combatting feedback) to have a big guitar that has some “dude, you DO realize this is an electric guitar, right ?” aspects, but I also feel like it’s having a beautiful person dressed in incongruent clothing…like, maybe a beautiful person being in workplace attire, but that outfit isn’t really who she is ? Ppl love the Gibson ES 335, and I demo’d one that sounded SO sweet-undeniably-but sometimes I feel “fooled,” like: “baby, I seen your curves and arches and f-holes, and I HAD to meet you…” but then you pluck or strum and it’s like: “I thought you were one type, but now I see that …that you’re not… I feel *played..”. Center-blocks and trestle-bracing are omni-present though, and I know I’m in a minority on this preference / need.
Greg looks like James Gandolfini (RIP) back when these videos were shot, compared to how he looks now. Keep up the good health and vitalitay, Mr. Gristle.
I hadlooked at every Gretsch guitar available. Then I bought a Players Silver Jet. It was the same color as my Gretsch Drums in 1973. That guitar is wonderful and sounds fantastic. But it was like being alone with your friends wife. Somehow it is not right. But my boy Greg has shown me this incredible guitar. It has all the things I love and none the things I don't. I will shortly make you mine, my Lotus White temptress.
This guitar has every feature I would want in a Gretsch hollow body. I think they've pretty well perfected the Player's Edition for gigging musicians, though I would never get that colour.
watching all these Joe and Greg Gretsch demos love them. Gibson could lead so much from Gretsch , instead of going round moaning and sueing everyone they should follow the Gretsch lead and bring out a reasonable priced model like the streamliner series , great value perfect guitars then ordinary people won't have to buy rubbish copies they can play authentic.
Awesome playing! I always laugh when watching your videos because you make every guitar look like a ukulele. I’ve never had that trouble because I am the size of a leprechaun 🍀. Lol!
Last time he said that, was with a 50th aniversary 335....in a later video he once said he owned a 50th 335....so he probably does sometimes buy the guitars he plays for wildwood.
Took one of my favorite Gretsches and totally ruined it. The 2016/2017 line is a disgrace to the history of Gretsch. I’m keeping my vintage ones, and only going to add more. This modern Gretsch is too modern for me.
I own of these and I've had a boatload of cool older gretschs, and guess what, this one smokes! Killer clean tones and when you want to get loud and dirty, the party is on! To each his own!
Joe Sasser frankly, I like the models several years ago. The so-called “modern” touches aren’t for me. Great guitars still, but some of the modern additions I don’t care for. You may like them. Just my opinion.
I always go back to these old videos not only for Greg’s glorious playing but the interaction between him and Joe makes me feel like they let me into their living room conversation.😊
Gregg's expression at 2:40 when "lubricated nut" is discussed.
I have never heard ANYTHING that can beat the tone from a good Gretsch guitar. And this one sounds good, man!
Greg is hands down my favorite. I love how he plays, his enthusiasm and confidence. Such a cool dude. If I had the money I'd buy everything he had ever reviewed!
Lots O money required for that as Wildwood is his families business..

Greg's a riot! I have a 60's of this model of this that an elderly gentleman gave me when he was passing away. Beautiful guitar.
The chemistry of Joe and Greg is so good, they should do more collabo reviews.
amen bo-jiggity jangle jiggity.

This guitar is my dream!! Nice sound and color...
I dig those 2 tone Green Annies, and am totally intrigued by the Players Edition...GASSS
...I wish the world was full of people with Greg's disposition.....oh yea ....and he's a scary guitar player !

Greg 🙌🏻 seriously amazing playing there! Gretsch remains my fav! What a sound!

Love Your playing !
3 legends...including the guitar
Joe says this one has a lacquer finish, I don't think so, Gretsch website says Gloss Urethane. But....... I love mine, it is a killer guitar!
Greg looks like James Gandolfini (RIP) back when these videos were shot, compared to how he looks now.
Keep up the good health and vitalitay, Mr. Gristle.

I love the way this guy plays. In a lot of guitar review videos the review just plays the notes with no passion or emotion.
This guitar has every feature I would want in a Gretsch hollow body. I think they've pretty well perfected the Player's Edition for gigging musicians, though I would never get that colour.
I watch Gregg less and less for his phenomenal playing but rather for what's about to happen in uncontrolled stage of him cut to loose.
Joe says this guitar is lacquer finished, but I think it's urethane. I own this model.
Daniel Weldon True that. It’s urethane. You’d think the Gretsch guy would know.
Looks like the Gretsch Brian Jones played in the Stones early days, you can see it on youtube with them on the Mike Douglas show 1964
What is the name of the Chet song he plays at 3:20
Is rumor true...is it possible i have a signed same model ... Rochester, NY
Clap, clap...the 6'7" Leprechaun 🤘😁🤘
"A thinner, 2.25” body" - is that correct or is it 2.50" body?
Lmafao... affirm the ish out that thing
I think the Anniversary model is the best bang for the buck if you want the "real" Gretsch thing,at a "reasonable" price.
watching all these Joe and Greg Gretsch demos love them. "I'm gonna go to the Affirm financing page and Affirm the s#$% outta this thing" HAHAHAHAHA
Awesome playing! I always laugh when watching your videos because you make every guitar look like a ukulele. I’ve never had that trouble because I am the size of a leprechaun 🍀. Lol!
I got a pot of gold and you ain't gettin NONE OF IT!!🤣
Brian Jones of the Stones had one too.
Looks like a Falcon with food poisoning.
Greg is insane hahahah
Danny DeVito and Arnie.
Did he say laquered finish?
RockSteadyZone He did, but he is incorrect as far as I know.
Quasi barbaric state of frothing rockdom, Joe brings the best out of Greg
I wonder if he bought it. I think he did
Last time he said that, was with a 50th aniversary 335....in a later video he once said he owned a 50th 335....so he probably does sometimes buy the guitars he plays for wildwood.
What a legend Gregg is. Lol
Now I’m laughing my ass off!
Come on Greg keep that diet going ! : )
Ya, Greg looks like he fell of the wagon. Come on Greg? Your the man.
Looks like a les Paul size wise when that giant is playing it
Lol
He can make Walmart guitar sound good
uh.... 2017
Joey boy heres laughin like he doesnt know batmans on his way to kick his ass…..
The Penguin fears no one .
laugh at 1:31
Bring back Joe out of retirement!😢
Took one of my favorite Gretsches and totally ruined it. The 2016/2017 line is a disgrace to the history of Gretsch. I’m keeping my vintage ones, and only going to add more. This modern Gretsch is too modern for me.
It’s not for you then don’t let it ruin your day
Yeah I hate playability and dependability too
I own of these and I've had a boatload of cool older gretschs, and guess what, this one smokes! Killer clean tones and when you want to get loud and dirty, the party is on! To each his own!
I have one too and it's a killer! Amazing tones.
