Is it actually related to max HP or is it the percentage of damage relative to max HP when blocking/perfect blocking? I am actually asking just because it seems strange that it would be based on max HP, but the latter does seem to make more sense. But I haven't tested it so just asking for clarification

It has the feel of the OG while being its own addicting thing.I love the flashiness and seeing 3 atb attacks resolve in quick siccession. I have so many screenshots on my ps5 of sick combat shots. square killed it. the battle team needs a statue built for them.

And there is a certain Combo with Aerith and Yuffie, which basically doesn't even bother with Stagger at all and breezes through the Brutal Challenges. Tifa is kinda overrated and people barely bother with other characters and it shows.
@albertouellette3990 doesn’t really matter. By the time you get to the big increases it’s almost over. Barret extending the length of the bar or someone slowing the bar is just as valuable, often more so.

Whats funny is that in the og its even more broken. With how much mp you can get with that materia in that game you can have a setup that kills emerald and ruby without even touching the controller
@@cataccountant so basically with hp mp swap you get 9999mp and 999 hp. You link final attack to phoenix and the rest of the materia slots to counter with knights of the round. Fill everyone elses slots with knights of the round, mp attack to restore mp, and have as many slots use counter mime. Even more op if you use full life linked with final attack so now each character can die at least 5 times without a gameover and you will do over a million damage after all the counter attacks go through, without pressing a button
Ideally this materia is best used in hard mode when MP must be micromanaged. Simply equip a back line character with this and you have practically infinite out of party healing. Seems simple but comes in handy quite often esp when you are just getting adjusted.
Hard mode story mostly splits the party so it’s not as useful as it seems. Also you can skip most regular fights and beeline to the boss fights of most chapters. Mp isn’t a problem especially if you use mp absorb
@@kei7540comes in most handy during dungeons and no choco bench is available. There are also times you get split up in a dungeon where this won’t be available but it’s still useful for the rest. (Esp for those just getting into hard mode)
What is that big attack your using where it plays an animation of you jumping high in the air for a jump kick?? It looks like your using true strike but I swear that attack never looks like that for me 😅
Always wanted to give this materia a go. I was trying to beat Rufus on hard mode and always falling short in the final phase, made worse by only having 10mp on cloud at the time. After a while I swapped in HPMP swap for shits and gigs. I died a handful of times but in the process learnt you could chain your limit breaks by taking a hit during the limit animation. As I had such low mp, most of Rufus' attacks would fill my guage completely from just one hit. On my winning attempt I literally parried one attack and then limit spammed my way to an easy win.
Yes. It's overall great for better blocking due to (in order of level), slightly bigger window, stagger on perfect block, and block grapple/grab attacks.
There's also a thing you could do where you make it aerith build with this synergy magnify and instant cash and you pick a different character since the game decides to target the player and just command Aerith to obliterate everything offscreen
It’s great to put on support characters like Aerith and spam all kinds of busted magic in the beginning of fights too. I start out with swift casted Blizzaga every single fight (unless the enemy has another elemental weakness). It’s so busted and so fun.
If you put fire and ice on swiftcast materia and then either fire or ice on MP absorb and then give Aerith Genji glove she can cast the highest level infinitely because she does so much damage with it she gets all her MP back
The only usage I've had for hp/mp swap is AP farming, unlimited spellcasts, and putting on a character you're not going to be using for unlimited heals in hard mode. I'll admit to being too old to get good enough to precision block this consistently

Game has to prioritize one or the other to stop itself from being confused on calculating character hp and mp. Like does it increase hp/mp first then swaps them, or does it swap them first then increase hp/mp?

basically you end up with 100 or less hp, and thousands of MP. Due to being at a low HP (not by percent factor but by number factor) it makes limit break gen insanely high. Perfect blocking counts as being hit for the purposes of "take damage, build limit" despite taking 0 dmg.

I recommend practicing them in the training combat sim missions. Orcs are the most common enemy, and they have attacks that are fairly easy to react to. Plus, in the combat sim there are no plants or objects to block your vision, just you and the enemy. You can also use precision defense focus materia to make the window more lenient, as well as increase the stagger dealt to them
Yeah pretty much exactly the same as Remake. All you do when someone is staggered is use tifa, rinse and repeat unbridled strength and true strike, on rebirth its even easier cause you have both Aerith and Cait that can also boost stagger with Ray of Judgement and Moogle Fist/Punch. As long as you're on hard mode any of the summon fights should survive past 300 percent.
I was recently thinking of ways to abuse HPMPswap, this of course is a way i didnt think of. (mostly thinking for hard mode when MP restoring is limited)
It's really good when put on a character that's not in your party. Outside of combat, they can heal you basically indefinitely. And since they're not in the party they're not dying in combat all the time.

Just use Aerith if you wanna use MP and chakra (or prayer) if you wanna heal. Easy hard mode. I'm not even mentioning Gotterdammerung to trivialise 90% of the fights xD alongside limit siphon and the lvl 3 limit break accessory you can start every fight with a lvl 3 limit break
